Chapter 48: Meeting in Sunnyshore

The Sunnyshore city is situated on a narrow spit of land bordered by the sea and the mountains. To make up for the lack of space, the city built solar panels to use for power and roads. There are suspended roads throughout the city that collect solar energy to power the city.
The beach looks awesome and the scenery is nice. It feels like there was no sign of war happening. People just enjoy the sunny weather and playing on the beach.
Then there are us.
“Mayu the beach is really nice.”
Akane and I with our swimwear started enjoying the beach.
Our priority is to level up and defeat the fire dragon, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the day.
It’s such a waste if I didn’t enjoy life.
Akane started whooshing water on me.
“Take this water canon.”
“It’s salty some of the seawater came to my mouth… Now, take this Akane… Water canon!”
From my wand water was magically created and it was blasted to Akane. The power of the water was enough to push Akane to the water.
“That’s cheating! No using magic!”
“Sorry sorry, It’s suddenly happened.”
Well, my magic just automatically appeared at that moment and it’s not in my control. I think I should control my magic more.
While we are playing on the beach.
A crowd started to appear and people were dragged in.
“Laura is here!”
“That famous Laura is here in Sunnyshore city.”
“We should have a picture together with her.”
The people started to get excited when Laura came to the beach. Wearing cute frilly swimwear. She really did attract many people.
Remembering, Laura is the wizard that says bad things to Akane before when we are in Grandellia city. She still has a bad image in my head, but she is really this popular with other people.
“Is she using hypnosis magic?”
“You so mean, Mayu… Laura is really popular. She may be an irritating piece of garbage human being, but there is still kindness in her heart.”
“You just said many bad things to her.”
Speaking of the devil. Laura noticed us and approached us.
“Oh, it’s Akane… While the adventurers are having a hard time on the battlefield fighting the demons you’re here enjoying the day… You're so self-centered.”
“Then what is the famous wizard doing here while the adventurer is doing their best on the battlefield. Are you perhaps want to flirt in here?”
“Are you mocking me?”
“Do you want a fight?!”
Akane and Laura started glaring at each other.
The mood is so intense no one in the was able to talk to them.
Laura then turned her head to me who is beside Akane.
“Oh, you here… it’s that wizard that makes duel me…”
“Mayu is mine, I won’t give her to you.”
Akane said and hugged me like I was a stuffed toy.
Laura then looks toward me with a bit teary eyes and turns around.
“I want a cute hug pillow like her too.”
I’m not a hug pillow!
“Hehehe… It’s my win.”
Win in what? Anyway, Laura seems to leave the beach after that. She has a somewhat defeated expression on her face.
I don’t want to think about it.
The crowd of people disappeared and both of us go to the land and eat in a seafood restaurant. The restaurant house looks like an ordinary restaurant I know on the earth.
I’m really shocked that this restaurant specializes in seafood meals. Looking around all of the people is enjoying their meal with a smile in their face.
More importantly, these people are using chopsticks as their eating tool.
I really feel like I’m still on earth with a twist of magic on it.
This world is really modern. There are people using smartphones, people riding in cars and technology is not that bad. Electricity exists in this world. They just call it light energy.
Our stomach started to rumble. Akane and I walked toward the waitress and order some seafood meal.
I order a special seafood meal with rice. I’m so hungry I need energy.
“Thank you for the wait this is your order dear customers.”
The waiter and waitress then put the seafood on our table.
On our table there is currently a big fish creature roasted, it comes with soy sauce as its main condiments and inside the fish belly, there are vegetables. The aroma as I cut its belly is wonderful.
It makes me drool.
“Can you really eat something like that Mayu?”
“It’s okay, I’m not the type of girl that suddenly getting fatter after eating many things… Honestly, I never got fat in my entire life.”
“Are you boasting in yourself? Still, calories are not good for women. Men like women with the slender body after all.”
“Akane, are you in love with someone?”
“I don’t know if it’s love but there is a man that teaches me sword skill before and he's really kind. He's a bit of an arrogant guy, but still, has a big heart… There’s a time I got lost in the forest and he helps me. He held my hands and gently lead me the way back to my home.”
Akane is blushing as she tells the story.
Well, her description makes me remember Retto for some reason.
I don’t have time to think about it, I should just fill my belly for now.
“We came here because this town has a guild that offers a super hard quest that will make us stronger. I wonder what kind of quest is that? Are we going to fight a mythical monster or something… I’m started to get excited.”
“Sunnyshore city is doesn’t really offer that kind of monster hunting quest. The guild here gives people a quest where they solve people’s problems or fight another adventurer. There are dark guilds and evil organizations besides the demon king army… Especially now that the war is happening, those dark guilds and evil organization are making their move.”
Akane said.
Then suddenly someone approached us and give us another roasted big fish.
“That’s right! There are a lot of evil people in this world, you better became strong and protect yourself.”
Who is this uncle?
A blonde middle-aged man approached us. He is wearing an apron and looks intense for some reason that I don’t know.
“Chef… Don’t scare the customer like that.”
Waitress said.
“I’m not scaring them I’m giving them a bonus. That catch today is too much it won’t fit in our refrigerator. That’s why I started cooking them and give them to our customers…Just look around s, this restaurant is more lively because I give them free food. Also, I was captivated by this pretty red-haired girl.”
“I’m not into an older man.”
Akane said frankly to the middle-aged man.
I feel bad for him.
“I think I was rejected…”
“Who are you anyway?”
“I’m the guild master of this city and also the lord… And the chef in this seafood restaurant. My name is Volkner… I heard your conversation earlier are you both here to get a hard quest.”
His guys have so many jobs. I wonder how he's doing everything.
“Yes, we came here from Grandellia city… Is there a super hard quest for us?”
“You have some guts I like you… Then I will recommend the S-rank quest. It’s about defeating this organization that has already taken over the Island located far south of this city. They are very powerful and people there are treated as slaves.”
People were treated as slaves in the far south of this city. If that’s the case then the adventurers here should o and saved them.
“You're a powerful guild master why didn’t you save them? Those people in need.”
I asked Volkner.
“That island is very dangerous… That far southern island is already inside the demon king territory. Just going there is dangerous because of the powerful whirlpools… The kingdom can’t just deploy people there. Because we’re in the middle of the war. The Grandellia king is concentrating in the demon king army… He orders me to stay here and protect this city for now. That’s why I can’t do anything? It’s an SS-rank quest are you two still interested?”
Volkner said.
Behind Volkner is a young man. He put his hand to Volkner shoulder and confidently said:
“I’m interested… That southern Island said to be a place where the creator used to live… I’m interested in taking that quest Uncle.”
“Who are you calling uncle?! I’m just 28 years old you know.”
“You look like an Uncle, you should not worry about it everybody is growing old. It’s a normal part of life… My name is Haru, one of the summoned heroes.”
What is a summoned hero doing here? I thought they are formed in a group. This one is here alone.
“You also have guts.”
Behind Volkner a girl with a sister outfit kicks his butt away.
“You’re in my way…”
“... B-Be respectful Lily you’re a sister.”
“Everyone in my way should just kill themselves.”
Who is this rude girl suddenly appearing?
The girl turns her glance toward me.
“Are you that girl that will challenge a fire dragon?”
She asked in an aggressive tone.
How did she know that? I only mention it on Akane.
Behind her is this girl covered by many layers of armor. Just looking at her makes me feel how heavy are the armor she’s wearing. How is she moving inside of it? Her voice is sweet, unlike this rude little sister.
“I am…”
I just answer her.
“Then, be grateful I will accompany you. My name is Lily a healer. I’m a super genius healer.”
“I’m Maple a tank adventurer… You can use me as a human shield.”
“Even you said that… I won’t do that!”
I said to Maple.
Lily is super confident in herself, meanwhile, Maple always seems to degrade herself. They are like day and night.
“Looking at you… I think you are that famous ashen sage. You’re quite popular and saved many people these past months… Then be honored that the genius sister healer will be on your aid…”
Lily is being pushy and putting her face closer and closer to mine. I can’t even make eat properly.
Haru uses his hand and pushes Lily away from me and then turns his eye's toward me.
“You change a little but I remember you…”
“Hey, why did you do that?!”
Lily angrily looks toward Haru.
Haru just ignored her and continue talking to me.
“You’re that from another world… You’re also from Japan aren’t you. You are also one of the adventurer's team up with Kaede.”
“That’s right, I’m that adventurer. All of my teammates were killed in the expedition that day. I’m very sorry…”
“Being apologetic will not do anything, if you have free time you can help me in investigating in the southern island. There is still a way to save them. I mean, Kaede and the others as well.”
Haru said seriously.
“How are you going to revive the dead?”
Akane asked.
“This world is unlike our world, this world is running on magic. Magic can basically do anything. Moving space, traveling through time, element manipulation, etc… There are basically two ways to save them. Use time magic and travel back in time and second is find the creator and wish for their revival.”
I never think about it, but Haru did. Haru stays optimistic while I’m despairing not thinking of any solutions.
I heard it from Akane before, the creator of that goddess in the Grandellia guild. If someone finds her you can make a wish. Also, I already experience time travel before. In the incident on the train. I travel back in time for some reason.
If I’m able to go back in time. I might save Kaede, not just Kaede but also Meily and the others.
“I’ll help you... But in return, you will also help me. This world is in chaos because of the demon king. We will defeat the demon king commanders and defeat the demon king… Are you okay with that?”
“I’m a summoned hero that’s basically the reason why I’m here… I will join you.”
Haru then offers his hand. I accepted his hand and make a handshake. Confirming that we share the same goal.
The three girls also put their hands together and put them t our hands.
“Don’t leave me Mayu.”
“We’re also joining… All of you don’t have a choice.”
“... Lily will join… I will join too.”
On that day, our party of five started.
