Daughters of darkness

EPISODE ONE. Shivering, every student huddled into their pillows. While the rest of them were crying and calling their parents, the astute ones were in prayer. Maybe their parents would save them. This evening, everyone prayed to avoid becoming prey. Terrifying noises could be heard, and there were evil birds flying around. There were moments when the sounds of giants strolling outside could be heard. Nobody was brave enough to venture outdoors. One night, Mkpu—the former gateman who had said his father was a great dibia at Oshogbo—came to see it all. He flashed his flashlight in all directions when he emerged, but he was unsuccessful in finding anything. He was about to return to his apartment when a frightening entity attacked him with a punch. The following day, the students discovered him dead behind the cashew tree after hearing him scream for assistance. Among the girls in the Ogbanje group are Deborah, Bose, Tobi, Fatima, Daniella, and Helen. Daniella ran the little cult as its manager. They committed many evil deeds and frequently killed any students who got in the way. Chidinma was the target for tonight. Although Chidinma was an exceptionally intelligent girl, her transgression consisted of insulting Fatima, a girl belonging to the Ogbanje group. Back at the school canteen, she confronted Fatima. Fatima arrived requesting the same drink that she had wanted to purchase, which happened to be the last one. Fatima became enraged and stormed out of the shop when Chidinma raised the price, challenging her. After calling upon her spirit, they stabbed her. Her body was discovered dead the following day. When everyone else woke up, she didn't. Following her hospitalization, the attending physician pronounced her deceased. Nobody went to school that day because the news shocked everyone. The bright, upbeat, easygoing person, Chidinma. They all grieved for her, wearing long faces. The majority of students, particularly Amina, her best friend, were crying uncontrollably. To discuss the current problem, the vice principal, Mrs. Anita, paid a visit to the principal of the school. Before carefully launching into the topic of the Ogbanje girls, she started the conversation with some topics regarding certain school teachers. "These girls in this school are causing so many problems, oh God." The vice principal bewailed Chidinma, the wise one. How will her parents react to the heartbreaking news, I wonder? said the principal. Her mother once informed me that, out of their four boys, she was the only daughter. They will find it difficult to accept the news. The vice principal said. 'Okay, sir'. After saying so, the vice principal departed. Tobi, overhearing their talk, left right away to tell her friends what they had discussed. "It seems like there is an urgent teacher meeting. Let me quickly find out what the next plan is." Tobi said as she walked away. After the teachers assembled in the principal's office, the principal started: 'Good morning, incredible teachers of excellent girls' college'. 'Good morning, Sir'. Teachers joined in chorus. In order for us to talk about the recent events at this school, I called this meeting. It is becoming worse. The principal stated, pausing, then went on: Despite the numerous pastors, prophets, and seers we have invited, nothing has changed. Does anyone have another reference'. The principal asked. "I think we ought to invite a seer, and I know of one,"The history teacher had suggested. "Sir, I regularly attend evening prayer sessions at the home of a very powerful man of God." The maths teacher narrated. "Well, perhaps we ought to consult the prophet before the seer." I hope that this prophet turns out to be our last bus stop. said the principal. "I hope everyone agreed?" When the principal inquired, everyone said "yes." After debating other topics, they parted ways. Tobi immediately ran to explain everything to her fellows.
