-Aiden’s POV-
It’s been a week since I asked Mary to be my Luna. I was surprised that she was overjoyed to be wanted. Normally it was the Luna who planned the commitment ceremony, but because she had not been truly raised as a she-wolf and did not know what should be expected of an Alpha/Luna commitment ceremony. She asked if she could plan a formal wedding as well and I granted her that. Anything for my little wolf. “Richard, you need to make sure to send out all the appropriate invitations for the ceremony and wedding. They will take place in one weekend, a Friday and Saturday.”
Richard looked at me confused. “Isn’t this her job?”
“Normally, yes. However, because of her past she does not know what to do. She is planning the wedding.” I could tell that he was taken back but understanding.
“Yes Alpha.” He walked away to get things done.
Sitting in my office, I couldn’t help but think about Mary and wonder if she was doing alright planning the wedding. I felt someone try to mindlink with me. I opened the link at it was Mary. Aiden! Please come! The panic in her voice scared me. Aiden please!
I stood up from my desk. Where are you little wolf?
I’m in the library.
I started running. I’m on my way. Just hang in there. I kept the link open with her and blocked out the rest of the pack.
I ran as fast as I could in human form. Please Aiden. She sounded in a panic.
I rounded the corner into the library and what I saw shocked me. April was standing over Mary along with two of my men. “BACK THE f**k UP!” The only tone I could use was my alpha tone. I knew it would scare Mary, but it would get the others to do as commanded. I closed the link the moment I entered the room. All four jump at my words. My men fell to their knees facing me and April took a few steps away from Mary. She got up off the floor and ran to me. I held her I my arms close to my chest. “Michael, explain! Now!”
He stood up, but kept his head down. I could feel Mary shaking in my arms. “Sir, she said that it was an order.”
“That WHAT was an order?!” I looked at April. No one answered. “You better answer me.”
Michael looked up at me. “April told us that Mary was a threat to you and that you ordered her imprisoned.”
My rage built up to an uneasy level. “Michael, Harold, take April into custody and put her downstairs.”
April got a look of confusion in her eyes. “For what?!”
“You attempted to imprison your Luna with false orders. You will be lucky to see the sun before the year is up.”
Mary looked up at me, “No!” I looked down at her. “Just send her away. Make her leave.”
“Why the leniency little wolf?” Her request confused me.
“I was imprisoned for a long time. No one deserves that. So, send her away. Make her miss the family she took for granted.”
I looked down at her. Those beautiful eyes seemed to give more wisdom than I had at that moment. “You are going to make a great Luna, little wolf.” I look over at my men. “Take her to the dining hall and hold her until I get there.” They grabbed her and led her out of the room.
Once they were out of the room, I opened a mindlink to the entire pack. Mandatory attendance in the dining hall now.
Little by little I felt my pack acknowledge my order. “What will happen now?”
I stepped away from her and took her hand. “Let’s go upstairs. I will do as you request.” We walked out of the library and to the dining hall. By the time we got there, the entire pack was there. We walked to the front of the room where April and my men were. As I got to the front, I turned to face my pack. I put Mary to my side, but kept a hold of her hand. “This is not something done often in this pack. I hereby banish this she-wolf from this territory for the time of one year. In that time, she is not to link nor associate with any member of this pack. It is so ordered.” As soon as I finished speaking the entire pack turned their backs on April and stayed silent.
“Aiden please don’t do this.” Her voice was pleading and desperate. I did not answer her. Per my own orders, not even I could interact with her for the next 365 days. April knew what she was required to do. She had the rest of the day to pack what she needed and leave the territory or be imprisoned instead. I could hear her start to cry and leave the hall.
Mary looked up at me with so many questions in her eyes. “It’s alright my little wolf, she is strong and can make it the year.” Once I felt her out of the pack house, I spoke to the pack again. “Now,” They all turned to me. “From this point on, I need you all to understand that Mary is your Luna and is to be respected as such. She is wise and caring. I was going to throw April into the dungeon for a long time, but Mary showed her compassion and mercy. She will be a great Luna and I expect you all to be kind and understanding.” There was a collective agreement and I dismissed everyone.
“Aiden, do you really think I’m going to be good for this pack?”
I smiled at her sweetly. “Yes, my dear. You are good for them. Look at today. You showed more compassion to a woman who was against you than I have in years.”
“But what if I’m not good enough to do it?” I could feel her worry.
“Little wolf, the fact that you worry about that mean you are more than good enough.” I can already tell that she is going to be the thing this pack needs to get to the next level.
My father established this pack as the go to for justice and enforcement. I took that a step farther by making sure that we did it fairly and non-bias. I can tell that Mary was going to bring the mercy and compassion that had been lacking. At the young age of 21 I have been able to keep my pack going and better than ever. Most wolves find their mates before now. When I turned 21, I did not think I was going to find my mate. I never thought I would find her the way I did. I knew that the road ahead was going to be hard of us, but we were both strong enough to support each other thru it all.
“Aiden, I’m kinda hungry. When can we eat?” Her eyes are calm and happy.
“Would you like to take a drive and get something outside the territory?” It was not often that any of us left the territory to go to the town near by for anything. The people in town have no idea about werewolves, but they know that the area here has others who live on the land who should not be bothered. We have gone there a few times for supplies during the winter months. Being there won’t cause to many issues.
“Are you sure I can handle that so soon?” She was being so responsible with herself that it was impressive.
“I know you can.” I wanted to show her how strong she really was.
