-Mary’s POV-
Aiden suggested that we go to town for dinner. I was very nervous. I had not been anywhere outside the packhouse since I got here. The town was full of humans and I have only been around those while in chains. I did not want to tell Aiden to know that I was used so much and by humans at that. We went to the room to get ready to go. I changed my dress into a red sundress. All the cloths that Aiden got me were sundresses because it was summer and I guess he liked them. He got dressed into a nice button-down black shirt and black jeans. He looked so handsome and the moment I saw him I could not help but nibble on my lip. “Are you ready, little wolf?” even his voice was smooth.
I blushed and looked away. “Yes, I’m ready to go.”
“Good, the car is waiting for us out front. Richard will be driving us.” I c****d my head to the side in confusion. Why did we need a driver? Did Aiden not know how to drive? “An Alpha and his Luna do not drive themselves around. It’s just how it is.”
“Oh ok. I was gonna ask.” I giggled for a moment and then quickly kissed his cheek. I blushed and looked away from him.
“Why do you look away all the time? Do I make you uncomfortable?” I could hear the pain in his questions.
I turned to him and hugged him close to me. “Absolutely not. I get embarrassed and I turn away so you don’t see me blush.”
He holds me close to his chest. “My sweet little wolf, I love to see your face redden and feel the care you have for me. There is no need to turn from me.” I looked up at him and smiled. The mate bond must be very strong if he could feel how I do. As I looked at him, he got a faraway look in his eyes and then nodded. He looked down at me. “Richard is waiting for us. We should go.” I smiled and we walked down to the car, hand in hand.
In the car, Aiden and I sat in the back seat together. His arm was around my waist and I was leaning against him. I closed my eyes and just enjoyed the feeling of his presence. “Here we are,” Richard said as the car came to a stop.
I opened my eyes and we got out of the car. I looked around at the town. It was small and modern. The place we were at was so nice. It had a man at the door who, I assumed, opened it for people who entered it. It looked like it cost a lot to go there. “Aiden, is this place a lot of money?”
“Don’t you worry about that, little wolf. As the alpha, I have a lot at my disposal. One of those things is money. We just do not have need for it while at home.”
“Oh, I see. I’m sorry for asking.” I was embarrassed, but I made sure not to look away. There were so many things that I had yet to learn that I must have seemed so ignorant.
“No, please ask anything. As my Luna, you have the right to know everything.” We walk into the building and there was a man at a podium. “Pleasure to have you back Mr. Wolfsman. The usual table?”
“Wolfsman?” I raised an eyebrow at Aiden.
Humans have last names, so do we. That happens to be mine. The mindlink was opened and closed faster than I thought possible. “Yes, but this time for tow. I will be dining with my fiancé’ tonight.”
The man turned around in surprise. “In that case, a bottle of our finest wine for the lovely couple on the house.”
Again, I looked at Aiden. There were so many things I did not understand. “It’s alright, we can talk about all these things while we eat.” He gently squeezed my hand assumingly. We followed the man to a table by the window and sat down. “Thank you. Let the waiter know that we will take that wine as well a couple waters.”
I interrupted and asked, “May I have a soda?”
“Yes, little wolf. You may have whatever you want.”
The man nodded and walked away. “Soda to start?”
“I have never had one. I wanted to try it.” I was honest with him even though I knew that it made me look so childish.
“Well, it’s about time you did.” I guess he could feel my embarrassment. “And don’t worry, it’s not that big a deal. I am here for you no matter what.” We spent the rest of the time there enjoying everything, from the drinks to the food. It was the best time I ever had.
“I need to use the restroom.” I stood up and went to the hallway with the sign for the bathroom. It was so nice there, better than anywhere else, other than at the house. I could feel Aiden watching me as I walked away from the table.
I entered the bathroom and went into the first stall. As I finished, I could hear the bathroom door open and close. The footsteps were not light as a woman would have. I stood up and waited to see where the feet went. They passed my stall so I ran out and into the hallway before I could see who it was. I started to have flashbacks from my time in chains and I began to cry. Halfway thru the hallways I froze. There was a man at the end of the hall that I knew. He was from my past. All he did was smile at me. I looked behind me and saw that there was a door. I turned around and ran thru it.
The door led to an alleyway. There was a fence at one end and the street on the other. I ran for the street. It was beginning to rain as I hit the sidewalk. I looked from side to side and decided to go away from the car. I had the overwhelming feeling that I needed to get far away from the building and everyone in it. I was not thinking about Aiden at the time. I was scared and trying to protect myself. I ran as fast as I could go without shifting into my wolf. I could tell that she wanted to come out, but I was too afraid to do anything but run.
I turned a corner and ended up in another alley. This one had a wall at the other end. I stopped running when I hit the wall with my hands. I turned around to run the other way, but there were three figures standing at the end of the alley. They slowly walk toward me. I began to make out that they are all men. I push my back against the wall. The men got closer and closer to me. I did not know what to do. For a second, I thought about linking with Aiden, but before I could, the men were right in front of me. “How did you get out of that room?” The man who spoke, I recognized as one of the many men who visited me.
I did not answer him. The other two men grabbed my arms and spun me around pinning me to the wall. I burst into tears. “Do you remember me sweet thing?” I could feel his breath on the back of my neck. A shiver ran down my back. He grabbed my hands and pinned them above my head to the wall. My knees gave out on me and I almost fell to the ground, but he held me up by my wrists. “I’m going to make you feel nice, like I used to.”
“P… please let me go.” I did not want him to touch me. The man laughed in my ear and I felt his other hand on my hip. “Please don’t.”
“Oh, come now, you never complained before. Why start now?” I did not know how the mindlink truly worked, but I tried to open one to Aiden, but I could not say anything, I was too scared. I felt the man’s hand slip under my dress and up to my panties. I tried to fight his hold on my wrists, but he was stronger than me at the moment. “You are stronger now.” He sniffed my neck. “You got your wolf.”
“Don’t touch me!” I fought as hard as I could. I felt his hand pull my panties aside. “NO!”
“Stop yelling” he ordered me and pushed me against the wall with his body causing my head to bounce off the wall. I felt blood running down my face from the impact. “Now be a good girl and enjoy this.”
I started to kick at the wall to try and get away, but he was stronger than I was. I heard a growl from behind us. His hand left my skin. There was a swift gust of air and I fell to the ground. I curled up in a ball and tucked my head into my chest. I could hear growling and screaming. Then there was silence. Little wolf
I heard Aiden in my mind. Aiden?
Little wolf stand up.
Aiden, I’m scared. I’m sorry.
Little wolf, stand up for me. I could hear the love in his voice.
I’m hurt, but I’ll try. I stretch out and then sit up. I looked around and saw Aiden standing near me. “Aiden?”
“Stand up, little wolf.” He did not reach for me, he stood there looking down at me with an expression that I did not understand. I got to my knees and then to my feet. I took a few steps away from him and my back hit the wall. “Steady yourself.” His voice was commanding and strong.
I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths and relaxed. When I opened my eyes, Aiden was standing in front of me. “I’m sorry,” I whispered.
“Why did you run?” I looked down to my feet. “Look at me.” I flinched at his tone and looked into his eyes. They were dark. “Answer my question please.”
I took a deep breath. “That man, he cornered me in the bathroom hallways and I ran from him.”
“Who is he?” I looked passed Aiden and saw that Richard had the man by the throat against the wall of the building next to us. “Mary?”
“He was someone who came to me while I was chained.” I looked away from Aiden. I turned my back to him and faced the wall. I started to think about all the times that man touched me and I started to cry. “He hurt me and I needed to get away. Please forgive me.”
“Death,” Aiden demanded and I heard a snap and a thud against the ground. “I’m going to touch you now.” I felt Aiden behind me. He gently wrapped his arms around my and pulled me into his chest. I turned around and berried my face into his chest and burst into tears. “I’m here now and I’m sorry I had to use that tone. You needed an Alpha not a mate.”
I steadied my crying and looked up at him. “I’ve never had an alpha before.”
“I know. And I’m sorry that you had the life you did.” He pulled away from me and smiled. “Let’s go home.” I saw the car on the street and we walked to it. “I’m sorry for all this.”
We got into the car and I asked, “Was he a member of the pack? He smelled my wolf.”
“He was a rogue from around the region. He likes to travel between here and a few other pack areas.” He held me close to him to keep me warm.
“What’s a rogue?” I did not know most things so I asked even though it seemed basic.
“A werewolf without a pack. Either because of banishment or pack elimination.” I started to think about April. I wondered if she would be considered a rogue because of the yearlong banishment.
“I don’t want to be a burden on you." I started to tear up and all I wanted to do was cry.
Aiden kissed my head. “You will never be a burden, little wolf.” I looked up at him and smiled. I suddenly became tired and drifted to sleep against him.
