Scene
Sweat dripped down Rujin's exhausted forehead. Although tired, She greeted each visitor politely, "Thank you for coming to our restaurant".
Rujin returned to the kitchen to get the food to be delivered to the customer.
Two women had just sat down at one of the tables in the corner of the restaurant. One of them continued to observe Rujin closely.
"Seulgi, that b***h Rujin is now a restaurant waitress!" Taeri said to someone who was sitting in front of her.
"Rujin...!" Seulgi gasped as she looked back, following Taeri's gaze on the restaurant kitchen.
"That poor! Her boyfriend Taehyun ditched her for our Soo Yin" Taeri chuckled with a fierce look at Rujin who started walking while carrying a tray filled with food.
"Isn't that funny? She even don't know her place" Seulgi smirked disdainfully.
"Seulgi, you see! I will play a nice game" Taeri said with sharp eyes before she suddenly called "Waitress!"
With a friendly smile, the waitress immediately came over to their table.
"May I help you?" Rujin asked.
Taeri cast a mocking smile,"I wanna order this one," Taeri said, pointing to one of the menus on the list.
"Sure miss," Rujin said.
Turning back from them, Rujin walked back to the kitchen. "What a unlucky day!" Rujin rolled her eyes inwardly. Rujin remained a calm expression despite feeling little shocked to saw her two classmate who always jealous of her in everything.
Rujin immediately brought a tray full of food. "Please enjoy," Rujin said while she was starting to put the plate containing the jumbo portion of grilled crab on the table. Her gaze remained focused on the food without looking at the two women in front of her.
Before Rujin could put the plate on the table, Taeri accidentally bumped her arm. The sound of plates hitting the floor caused quite a loud sound. So that the visitors who were enjoying the food were distracted.
"Why are you so clumsy? Do you know how much this cost?" Taeri asked seethingly.
"I am sorry" Rujin said apologetically.
"You are sorry! Who's going to pay for all of this? Your monthly salary won't even be enough to pay for it," Taeri yelled angrily, staring at her dress which was soiled with spices.
"Taeri, You don't have to worked up so much. It's you who made me lost balanced" Rujin said in a calm tone.
"Are you saying that this is all my fault?" Taeri asked seethingly.
"How arrogant of you, Can you afford it? Even if you are sold, and you work your whole life, you still won't be able to afford it." Seulgi sneered.
"What are you saying?" Rujin asked with a lopsided smile and a very fierce gaze.
"Don't you hear it? You are just a waitress" Seulgi snarled while staring at Rujin intensely.
"Poor you! Why are you so distracted? Right! Tomorrow is Taehyun and our Soojin marriage" Taeri added with a crooked smile.
"I got it! This is it. You simply want to drew that topic" Rujin glared at them; she was fuming with anger.
"Hey! What are you....?"
"What's going on here?" The manager who had been called asked as he arrived at the table, glaring at Rujin.
"Didn't I ask you a question?" The manager asked again angrily.
Rujin raised her gaze to the manager in an attempt to explain all that happened, but no word left her mouth as she was still too angry to say a word. Rujin wasn't good at retelling an ordeal, most especially when she was still vexed. She'd rather remain mute to calm herself than talk.
"Your disrespectful waitress, spilled the spices on my friend dress" Seulgi said shooting daggers at Rujin.
The manager angrily sighed and turned to the another waiter who had earlier come to call him. The waiter, in turn, explained all that happened to him.
"I'm really sorry, Miss, for the owner's sake, can you please just let this go...your bill is on the house. Please forgive her." The manager said with an apologetic look and a low bow as he pleaded.
"Hey! Let's stop here" Seulgi whispers to Taeri when she caught a glimpse of her surrounding. She saw bystanders with their phones, obviously taking pictures and making videos of the scene.
"Okay, fine, I'll let this go, just to give your owner some face but teach her some respect" Taeri snarled glaring at Rujin. If looks could kill, Rujin would be dead by now, but unfortunately, Rujin's glare was on par with hers, if not more deadly.
The manager turned to Rujin, "You! In my office now!" He said to Rujin in a low but forceful voice. Rujin understood that look and tone perfectly.
-------
Stepping out of the restaurant, Rujin turned to look at the place where she had worked for months. God, she had grown to love this place and the people working in it. Even that manager who had just taken her job from her, she had also admired.
"Devil is following me everywhere! When will it stop?" Rujin scoffed inwardly.
Rujin kept thinking about the incident that took place at the restaurant. Her boyfriend ditched her for a wealthy woman who is also her classmate.
Rujin absentmindedly stepped off the sidewalk and walked towards the road without looking. She had a lot of things running through her mind. The screeching sound of a tire and the angry blaring of the horn made her shocked and fell on the ground.
