The Dragon Lady's Power

1034 Words
I laid on the warm rock, waiting for the others to wake up. Elderling and his mate, Brightstar found humor in me setting on fire my temporary house. Cooper is still getting used to the idea of dragons and them being able to talk. Honestly, I don't think that there is anything else in this world that can surprise me. I am pretty sure that I have seen everything that there is to it .     Are you really the Dragon Lady?" Cooper asked as he sat down beside me. "It's so hot here."     "First of all, it's Lady of the Dragons. Second of all, you are the one who wanted to come with me. I think it feels fine. This rock is mine and I have claimed it, so get off." I ordered. "Go find someone else to bother. I'm sure the little ones would love to know what your life has been like."     "You are weird and mean." He complained, he walked off anyways.     "I see you are ready to begin learning what your powers will be. I am afriad that I am unable to train you as you are human. I will explain to you your powers and what will happen with each one. The other magic that runs in your veins will be learned on your own with your human trainer." Elderwing settled beside me with his mate. Their young one ran over, dragging Cooper with them.     "As long as I know what to expect. I think I will be able to get what I can with the help of the lady who I will be meeting. So, from the beginning please." I said respectfully.     "Very well. The first power is your fire. It will be your most favored power most likely. Remember that until you get it under control, your fire will react with your emotions. You have two types of fire. Fire that will burn and fire that anyone can touch. The fire will become apart of you and will come when you call for it. Never let anyone know how well you can control it. This will help you greatly in the war." Elderling explained.     "Your second power is us. We will come to you when you call. We will be proud to help you in times of war. Albert promised us that we will always live in peace once this war is offically over. We knew it wouldn't be for a while yet, so that is why we stannd by your side. We know you will be a grest leader." Brightstar said. I turned to Elderling as he agreed and began speaking again.     "Your third power will also benefit you as much as the fire. You will be able to shift into a dragon yourself. There is no telling how big you will be, but you will no doubt be an alpha. That is why we all bow to you. Your strength is felt among all of us. It was painful when Albert transformed his first time and I imagine it will be the same for you, but I wouldn't worry about it. You are very strong and you have suffered from great pain." Elderling rumbled.     His youngest, Blackbell, laid her head on me. She huffed, smoke billowing slightly from her nostrils. "Learning these powers are not going to be easy. Of course, nothing is ever made to be easy. If it were, then nothing in life would be worth living." I said. "I don't like it when things are easy. The harder life is, the better the outcome will be."     "You have a weird point of veiw on stuff." Cooper said. I narrowed my eyes at him. "I'm just saying, Evie! You have been odd since you got your memories back. You act all tough and stuff. No woman acts like that. A woman doesn't lead an army. They stay home and raise kids and take care of the family."     "Cooper, if you value your life, I suggest you keep your f*****g mouth shut. There is one thing you are going to quickly learn. I value my freedom. I am who I am. I didn't get this far by sitting down and letting everyone do the dirty work. I got up off my ass and took control of my life. I make the rules about what I do. If you have a problem with that, then you can go home. I don't need you and I never will." I snarled. He put his hands up in defense.     "Sorry, sorry, it's just not something I am used to. Our future is going to be different than what I was raised on." Cooper said. I looked at him, daring him to finish that line of thought. I still haven't agreed to marry him, but that is what everyone thinks will be happening. I refuse to do so until he matures some more. I am not marrying a child. I don't think I will marry at all.     "You make me so annoyed and I am surprised I haven't killed you yet." I snapped. "Go someplace else before I decide that setting you on fire will be the best cousre of action." Cooper ran off with three of the baby dragons following him.     "YOu must learn to get used to him. He will be a good friend to you in the future. I am sure he means well. Remember, you two grew up in two different worlds. He knows nothing about you and you know nothing about him. Get too know each other." Brightstar rumbled. She rubbed her head against me gently. "Let someone in. Learn to love. It will help you in the end."     "Brightstar is right. I sense he only wants to know you. He does need to mature some as he has grew up pampered most of his life. This is the first time he is really doing stuff on his own. I'm sure everything will turn out for the better." Elderling agreed.     "For the better? Let's hope. I need to keep what's left of my sanity." I grumbled.
