Uncontrollable Fire

1030 Words
I decided that today I will be spending time alone to try and control my fire powers. So far it hasn't worked. I have burned three books, a pile of papers, and my pillow. I don't know how I burned my pillow, because it is on the other side of the room. That is irratating because I now lack a pillow.     I looked at the candle. It's fresh and still remains unlit. "How am I supposed to control fire when I burn everything and not what I want. This makes no sense! What am I doing wrong?" I complained to myself.     I stared at the unlit candle, hoping that it will burn. "Burn." I banged my hand on the table, catching the table unfire. I screamed before putting it out with fire. "And I now lack a table. Why is this so hard?"     "Perhaps you need to connect with your magic before you go and start doing that." I jumped when Joria appeared from the shadows.     "How did you do that?" I questioned. She only raised a brow. "Right...you think you can help me here?" I asked her.     "I will until you go and see the one who will be training you. Now, I want you to sit down and calm down. Close your eyes and relax. I don't want you to focus on anything. Take a deep breath in and then let it out. Keep doing that until you enter your mind. I will be by you the whole time."     I relaxed as best as I could. Clearing my mind isn't easy. So much has been on my mind, that I just don't know when to stop planning my next step.     After a while my mind cleared at I entered a meadow. "What is up with my mind and meadows? Okay, I clearly need to find the area where my mind holds the powers. Would it be my core or something? I don't even know. I'll just go with the gut feeling I am having. That has to mean something good."     I followed where my instincts were telling me to go. I soon came upon a ball of fire. "Is that normal? That can't be normal! How do I get to it. I don't think touching it will do anything."      "It's something you have to attack. It won't be pretty at first. Everything that is around you will burn." I turned and a rather tall dragon was looking down at me. "I'm your inner dragon. This is what you will look like when you change. You will enter your dragon powers before you enter your phoenix. Call for Elderling and he will help you. You must learn who you are."     "So what...I just jump at it?" I questioned. The dragon nodded. "Okay, let the fun began." I turned back to the fire ball before letting out a shout and running at it. My skin burned everywhere, causing a scream to errupt from me. It quickly turned from a scream to a roar sound.     I opened my eyes and saw everything around me burning. Joria is no longer here, which I don't blame her for. I didn't realise that the dragon was telling the truth. This fire though, thefire is different. Sure, it's burning everything it touches, but it is colorful. "Rainbow?"     "EVIE!" Shouts were heard from outside. I cringed.      "How am I going to explain this one?" I questioned. I stood up and pain racked through me. "Oh sweet Jesus the pain." I stumbled to the door and out into fresh air.     "Evie, what the hell happened?" Cooper asked. He looked over me to see if I was injured. "You look fine, but do you feel fine?"     "Relax. I may have done something stupid or smart, and set the placeon fire. Good thing I moved my things out of the house before this happened." I said more to myself than him. Cooper looked at me confused. "I could tell you but I don't even know myself." I subconsciously rubbed my hand, calling for Elderling. "On a brighter note, I'm still alive."     "You were messing with fire and you managed to change it different colors?" Cooper asked in disbelief. I shrugged. I am still confused on that one. All I remeber is searing pain and then coming out of my mind. He doesn't need to know that though.     The fire slowly died out as they threw water on it. Some spots kept relighting, which brought on confusion to everyone, but left mentally snickering. "Why is it when it comes to you, there is always fire?" Lord Vixen asked.     "I could tell you, but there isn't any fun in that." I stated. I walked to a clearing and they followed. In the distance I can see Elderling approaching. I began to bounce on my heels in excitment. Cooper gasped and ran off with his dad on his heels.     Elderling landed in front of me, bowing slightly. I returned it. "My lady." He grumbled happily. "What can I do for you?"     "I need someplace where I can train my powers as the Lady of the Dragons. You will be helping me just as you once did gor my grandfather." I said firmly.     "As the lady commands. Hop on and we will take to the skys and to our home. We will train you to be the greatest there is." Elderling rumbled.     "You are not going without me." Cooper declared.     "I do believe that is up to me, Cooper. I am not a child." I snapped. Elderling chuckled, but it sounded like a growl to Cooper, who backed away in fear. Cooper looked at me determined. "Fine, but you will not dictate my life and the things I do. The moment you try, I will personally kill you without any hesitation. Am I clear?"     "Yes ma'am." Cooper declared firmly. I gave a firm nod and then climbed onto Elderwing. Cooper followed shortly.     "Let's go, Elderling. I'm ready for adventure." With that, we took to the skies.
