"So, let me get this straight, you want us to join in on this war? You also want me to believe that these dragons are on our side?" Lord Vixen questioned. Am I going to have to explain this three times for him to understand? "What is in it for me?"
"You know what, this is pointless. I am not going to give you something. Shouldn't peace and happiness be enough for people these days. You seriously aren't worth my time." I growled. I turned to Cooper. "If you want to stay here and hide like a coward, be my guest. I'm not coming back after this. I'm going back to the dragons and just plan my next step there." Everyone seemed offended.
"Wait...father, we need to listen to Evie. She knows what she is doing. Either you let her stay and join her, or we leave and I never come back." Cooper threatened. "I am going to do what needs to be done. I'm not going to stand with a bunch of cowards. Mom wouldn't want this. You have blamed me for many things, so I am finally going to do what I want. I refuse to stand behind you any longer."
"I agree with him, my lord. We have been hiding and running for too long. We need to do as the girl says." One of the men step forward. Lord Vixen looked at him in anger. "I will go with her if you refuse."
"Very well, anyone who wishes to fight may leave." Lord Vixen snapped. Fifty percent of the men and woman stood up and walked out the door. I was totally not expecting that one.Why did Cooper do that?
"Cooper, are you sure this is what you want? He is your father, you should stay with him." I said gently. "Family need to stay together."
"You don't have family, so you need friends. Besides, I want to be remembered as someone great instead of a coward. Also, it gives me the chance to get to know you better. You are a complicated person to know." Cooper assured me with a bright smile. I shook my head and chuckled. It seems he is finally starting to grow into a man and not the child I thought he would always stay as.
Four dragons had come with us. They are large enough to carry up to thirty people. Everyone splitted into three dragons while Cooper and I took Elderling. "It seems your plans will work just fine. You will be leading a great group of soldiers when the time comes," Elderling rumbled.
"Better than nothing." I grumbled.
It took a few short hours to get back to Elderlings home. None of the dragons looked up at the sight of many other humans, due to the small village that isn't very far from us. A group of people had come a year ago and the dragons blessed them with being able to stay on their land and build homes. They even built me one...one that is too big for me. I think Elderling and Brightstar had a hand in that one. They can be rather sneaky when they want to be. What person needs a house with so many rooms? They gave me a office and a meeting room that could fit a hundred people!
"Alright people, head to the town square!" I ordered. The villagers welcomed the new comers happily. The mayor welcomed me back happily. "I want everyone in front of the tower in ten minutes. I will start choosing my generals. Elderling says he know who will be the perfect general. I know that there are four species here and there will be a general from each one."
"Seriously? YOu think now is the best time to start choosing?" Cooper asked in disbelief. I raised a brow at him. "Fine, but I don't think it is needed yet."
"Don't question my intentions. You need to learn to trust me." I informed him. He flushed and then nodded in agreement.
"I...I want to give you something. I know you won't be ready for a while and I want it to be in your own time." He fumbled around with in his hand. "I know you are not one for big surprises. I realised that when my father told you something the other day, so I decided to do this when it is just the two of us." I raised a brow. He held his hand out and in the middle of his palm lays a simple silver ring. "It was my mother's engagment ring. Is that okay?" All I could do is stare at the ring. I don't even really remember talking to him about marriage since I shut him down that one time. How am I supposed to handle this one. No one has prepared me for this one! "Evie?"
"No forcing me into something right away, right?" I questioned. He laughed.
"Not any time. This is your choice. I know you want us to get to know each other better before we take that step...so, yeah." Cooper rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. He took my hand and slipped the ring on. "I figured it's better than nothing, you know. Are you okay? You seem a little pale."
"No one prepared me for this." I responded. "Anyways, time for the meeting!" I jumped onto the stairs in front of the tower. Cooper stayed at the base of the stairs with a knowing and understanding look in his eyes. It made me not know how to feel.
"Are they ready?" I asked the mayor. He nodded and then quickly got their attention. "Alright people, you know there is a war going on out there and we need to start planning for it. I am going to choose my generals right now and I want no arguments.
The generals that were chosen are rather interesting, but I didn't entertain on the idea of them for long. I led them into my home and towards the meeting room. We sat at a small table because the big one stild makes me uncomfortable. "Alright, we don't know much of what's going on out there so we are going to have to learn. General Lewis, you will be taking a ship up north. I want you to gather as much information as you can. General Erin, you will be going west and will be doing the same thing. General Trixie, you are to go south and General Hela, you are to go east and do the same thing. Collect allies along the way. I will create something that will keep us in contact with each other."
"Yes, ma'am." They replied.
"Madam. if you don't mind my asking, what will you be doing?" General Trixie asked.
"There is a lone island that I have heard rumors about. Cooper, Elderling, and I will be going to this island. Rebels are on the island. They going against anything that takes away their freedom. I want to convince them to join us. They will doing anything if it means leeping their freedom."
"I guess that's something. How long do you think it will take to convince them?" Cooper asked. I shrugged.
"After we convince them, I need to find someone who will help me train in my powers. Quite frankly, I wish not to burn down another building or person." I said. They laughed. "After that I will need to find the next stone and find my ship. The pirates are already on our side. We need to convince the creatures of the sea to join us. I want as many people and creatures to fight for what they believe is right. I will eventually need to return to my friends."
"They probably think you are dead and will think you are someone else or a ghost." Cooper pointed out. I shrugged, not caring much about that part. "Try to stay out of as many battles as you can. IF you need to fight, then fight. The enemy will not win. Kill the enemy without mercy. No one will survive if they only wish to kill. It's harsh, but it needs to be done. Carry as much weapons as you can. The people that stay behind will need to know how to fight. Men and woman. If they wish to not fight, they need to learn to become healers. I believe Healer Ellie has come with us. I'm sure she will be willing to train others. I will talk the mayor, but I doubt he will disagree with me."
"Meaning you will use threats if he disagrees." Cooper stated. I narrowed my eyes at him, but I didn't deny it.
"We go our seperate ways in a fortnight." I declared. "You are dismissed."
I turned to Cooper as soon as they walked out. "Uh-oh."
"Run." He took off running and I followed suit. He was soon screaming for his life, but no one made no moves to stop me.
