Omega
Malori
Beep, beep, beep - the alarm echoed as Malori opened her eyes, she frowned and turned her head to the side looking at her clock. 5:00am, in two hours her brother and parents would be waking up. She sat up in her small single bed and rubbed her eyes.
Her room was a poorly renovated broom closet, it contained an old worn mattress and a stained pillow. Luckily she was at least allowed clean sheets and pillow case but her sensitive nose could still register the putrid smells. In the corner opposite her bed was a closet which originally held the cleaning utensils, but, now contains what clothes she was allowed to own.
Downstairs the kitchen had already been started by the other Omega cooks who, like her, were Omega's born to an Alpha or Beta high ranking family. When she walked into the kitchen she reached up and put her apron on before making her way over to the chef.
"Morning Malori, you can start with the bread. While the bread is proving make sure to roast the mushrooms and tomatoes, and after that you can prepare the lunches for this afternoon," Mrs. Charles was the head chef, the Omega who had the most experience in the kitchen and served the clan as the chef for the primary families in the pack.
"Yes Chef," Malori replied.
By the time the sun started to rise, Malori had packed all of the lunches, made the daily bread and was now setting the table for her family as well as the current pack leaders and especially the current Alpha of her pack. 7:30 rounded and the first members of the pack entered the dining hall and began to eat their breakfast.
Unlike the Beta's and Alpha's, Omega's ate in their own smaller room where there were no seats and everyone stood and ate the leftovers and excess food from their morning cooking sessions. Malori was speaking to one of her few fellow Omega friends which munching on one of yesterday's bread rolls.
"What are you considering after graduation Malori?"
"I'm not sure Kendra, I could stay and devote myself as an Omega in the kitchen like Mrs. Charles. I could pursuit further education based on my school performances and use it to help further the pack's businesses. Or, I could abandon the pack and pursue a life in the human world. But the last option leaves me without protection from the other packs or any supernatural enemy, and it would be increasingly harder to find my mate," Malori replied.
Kendra bit her pale lips, her short jaw length raven hair bounced a little as she frowned. She had a noticeable scar from the left side of her jawline down to her shoulder and had storm grey eyes. Kendra was also the shortest member of the pack standing at just 5ft in height while Malori stood at an average 5ft 8, which was the tallest of the Omegas.
"Well whatever you decide to do, you know you ain't doing it alone. I got your back girl besides there's nothing keeping me at Silvermane Valley," Kendra grinned at me. It was nice to know that my best friend always had my back.
The pack; Sillvermane was one of the seven wolf clans named after seven ancient chiefs who were gifted by the ancestral wolf spirits. Silvermane was the chief who united the seven clans against the invading vampire horde and was the most powerful of the group.
Omegas were the bottom of the pack, they often got the brunt of an alpha or a beta's ire even if they weren't involved in the incident. Most omegas learn their roles and duties towards their household and the clan from a young age. Malori's family were one of the three families which inhabited the pack house as Malori's father was the Beta to the clan's Alpha, and her mother was the delta and best friend of the Luna who was the Alpha's mate.
After cleaning up after breakfast, the omegas who were under 18 quickly got ready to get to school. Kendra and Malori entered the school grounds just as the bell went off signalling the start of the day. They parted ways to head to their first classes for the day.
After they finished their classes they would then have to see to their duties as an omega and make time to do their school work while completing the chores that were given to them. Malori hated doing the chores, but she did them to not bring any embarrassment towards her parents and her brother who was a Beta and second to the pack's eventual alpha.
