Chapter 11

*** Silver Moon Pack ***

It was almost time for the wedding but just before Val left he got an emergency call from Doctor asking him to come to Daniel's room. Val ran to his room. What he saw when he reached there made him stop in his track.

He fell down with tears streaming down his face. Daniel was taking last of his breathes. Doctor had released Serena from her room and now she was sitting holding Daniel's hands. Her eyes blank of any emotions and life. She was already dead but was waiting for her Mate to leave first. Doctor immediately put oxygen mask on Daniel but pulse rate was still abnormal.

After giving Daniel whatever treatment could be given at the moment Doctor approached Val.

"How much time is left with him?" Val asked.

"Any time today. Utmost till midnight." Doctor said grieving. Val mind-linked his Gamma to come and meet him there. Till now no one knew about Daniel's condition but now they have the right to know.

Gamma Ellie was 19 year old girl. She took over from her father just a year ago. She was a bubbly carefree girl. They never put much burden on her. She was like young sister for both Val and Daniel. But today he was putting huge burden on her shoulders.

Ellie was not prepared for what she saw. She immediately got serious. Her heart was breaking seeing her brothers in the condition but more than that she was confused. She was confused how can Daniel be on death bed. He was perfectly healthy and fine just 2 days ago. And since then he didn't even go for any fight to get seriously injured. Its not that he cant heal more faster than the others. Then how.?

Her silent question was answered when Val explained her everything from thay unfaithful night when he met his second mate to now when he is on his deathbed.

He asked Ellie,

"Inform our warriors and captains to be ready for any attacks. Only the trusted ones must know about Daniel's condition. We cant risk informing our enemies during such a time. I have to go and punish those bástarďs who did this till then you are incharge of the place. And doctor will keep you and I updated about Daniel's condition."

After that he went to his brother, his friend, his partner to say his goodbye.

"Hold on bro, please hold on until I come back with your culprits. I want to kill them in front of your eyes before you leave us. Please buddy dont let me fail again, please. I am sorry. And I..I...I love you."

Val couldn't continue anymore his voice broke in the end. He turned to Serena,

"I love you Serena. You have always been an elder sister to me. I am sorry I never told you before how much I love you. I was scared Daniel will kill me if I said it to you. Now I want him to kill me but I know he wont. I always dreamt of meeting my mate and telling you about it first. To share my happiness with you both but now I wont get the chance."

He took a deep breath before holding her one hand and continuing,

"Serena you have been a good mate. Best mate to Daniel. Moon Goddess chose you perfectly for each other. During this time anyother mate would have left. But you stayed with Daniel. Not only that you supported him in this search. You are very courageous to do this. I admire you alot Sis."

"Good bye. I love you both alot."

With that he gave a kiss on Serena's forehead and left.

Val asked his driver to get his Neon blue Ferrari. He wanted to make an impression on Midnight Moon Pack. He didnt want them to take him lightly, him being a Beta and all.

He and his date sat in the car. Both of them were ready for what was to come. He asked his men to go there and wait for the further instructions. A car was ready to bring the culprits back to Silver Moon pack silently. At current situation Val didnt want to have a fight with the whole pack. So he changed his plan and decided to kidnap those kidnappers only. He will deal with the pack later.

He reached Midnight Moon Pack at their reception venue. He wasn't sorry for missing the wedding. He had more important things to do than attend a boring wedding. Lobos and Hatis were there to receive him when he reached. After sharing the pleasantries he was shown his table on which a man was already sitting. He and his date were introduced to the man who was one of the Elder apparently. Elder Drew was slightly drunk by that time.

After formal introduction with Elder Drew Val started talking about the packs and its members. He didnt want to alert the Elder so he was taking it slowly. After sometime he asked about Alpha and Luna Blackwood,

"Did you know Alpha and Luna Blackwood? I have heard alot about them but unfortunately didnt get the opportunity to meet them." Val said.

"I didn't only know them. I was very close to them. Both of them were like my children. They used to call me Uncle Drew. They were great people. After their death this pack lost its charm. Its not same as before. Dont take me wrong, Alpha Alex Lobo and his family is good. They care for the pack and protect us. But they are not Blackwoods. I miss them alot." Elder Drew said sadly with tears in his eyes.

"I am sorry for opening old wounds. I can see its very difficult for you to talk about them. I was just curious. Please forgive me Elder Drew." Val said not so apologetically. He hit a jackpot. Moon Goddess was on his side to make him sit with slightly drunk Elder Drew.

"Its ok my boy. Everyone is curious about them but Alpha Charles didnt want others to know about Blackwoods much for keeping their daughter identity safe. I didnt want that. I opposed that but I was out-voted so had to let Blackwoods become mystery. But they were very simple and caring couple not only for their pack but all the other beings." Elder Drew continued, "and call me Uncle Drew my boy. I miss hearing it. After their death no one calls me Uncle Drew anymore." He said wiping his tears.

"Its ok Uncle Drew..... Can I ask you something please dont mind it." Val said. Elder Drew nodded his head in affirmation indicating to continue.

"You said something about their daughter. I didnt know they had a daughter. Where is she.? And why are you people hiding her?" Val asked.

Drew sighed deeply before saying, "Their daughter's name is Ariana Blackwood. After her parents death we found that the car accident which killed them was not an accident rather a planned murder. Alpha Charles and other Elders were afraid that their murderer will go after little girl." He paused. It looked he was struggling to continue. At the end he continued,

"We changed her name from Ariana Blackwood to Ariana Black. No one from the younger generation knows about her real identity. Ariana herself dont know. I was against keeping her in the dark but I was out voted again. They said being a child she wont be able to keep it a secret. We spread the rumours that she has been sent away but she stayed here in this pack." Drew started crying,

"I failed Blackwoods. I couldn't protect her. Who knew this will happen? I am sorry I failed all"

Val poured more drink in old man's glass and said,

"I am really very sorry to hear that. How did she die.?" Val asked.

"Moon Goddess forbid. She isnt dead yet, physically. But her soul is no more there. She and Alpha Alex were couple until he found his mate. This broke her heart so much that she went in depression. To help her they decided to announce her marriage with Beta Remo Hati. Remo also agreed to make this sacrifice for the sake of Blackwoods and his sister. But Ariana didnt take it well and ran off from the pack."

"Remo and Alex found her and brought her back to home. Till then she was half gone. And rest happened when she heard about Alex's marriage. Now she is just a shell of what she used to be. Poor girl. Alex should have been considerate of her. But knowing her condition he still decided to get married. Now she is as good as gone." Drew was sniffling.

Val asked him,

"How do you know all this. Have you met her after you know she became mentally unstable and all."

"Yes boy I also didnt believe at first but the pack doctor confirmed it. Still I was in denial but after I saw her today I cant deny it anymore. She is not mad. No, not mad rather she has become a living corpse now. That is why I am drinking today. I want to forget my failure." Drew said refilling his glass.

"She is here. Ariana is here?" Val said.

"Yes. You see that girl in pink dress on second table from left. She is staring out in the space like that since she has been brought by Remo." Drew pointed.

Val looked in the direction. At first he couldn't recognise her. She wasn't the girl from Daniel's description but after looking at her carefully he saw the resemblance. She was more skinny and something was different. Her innocent alive eyes were dead. Val couldn't believe his luck. Girl who they all thought dead was sitting alive but without any life in her.

'If she is alive then why is Daniel dying?' Val thought. 'I will think about it later. First I will have to take her to Daniel immediately else he will die.'

"Uncle Drew please stop drinking now. Nothing is lost yet. You want to help her?" Val asked.

"Its all over. What can I do now. How can I help her now." Elder Drew said.

"I can help you. We have contacts with best psychiatrist. I can take her to them. But for that I need your help. You will have to get sober now. Go to washroom and get freshen up. We dont have much time." Val said. He decided to not tell Elder Drew about Daniel and Ariana in his drunken state. For shipping Ariana out he will need his help and this is the best way.

He signalled one of the waiters who was his man to follow Drew and help him get sober. He turned towards his 'date',

"Lily, we have to get that girl alone somehow. You go and talk to one of the person on that table and take him away from the table. One waiter will spill drink on the other taking him to the washroom. At that time I will ask Drew to go and bring Ariana out. As soon as I tell Drew about the plan you get on work." Val instructed Lily, his date. He mind-linked the same to the waiter following Drew. He was his most trusted man. Then he asked cars to be ready. Van in which he was going to take the kidnappers will be used to take Ariana and Drew.

While he coordinated everything and everyone Drew came back in much sober state than before. He informed him the plan. Elder Drew got on board immediately without asking any questions. It looked like he didnt trust his pack members much.

Val mind-linked his pack doctor,

'Doctor we have found Ariana. She is alive but unresponsive. How is Daniel? Dont let anything happen to him until we come. I dont know why he is in this state even though Ariana is alive but I will worry about it later. Right now I have bring her.'

Doctor immediately replied,

'We dont have much time. I will do my best but you try to get here with her soon. I just hope you make it in time. I think I know why Daniel is in this state but I can confirm it only after checking on Miss Ariana.'

Sitting at his place Val saw everything being done. Lily approached the man he came to know was the pack doctor. Then he saw them going to the dance floor. Then he signalled Drew to go and sit at his place. After that waiter spilled drink over the other person who was Remo Hati's secretary. After he was out of the way Elder Drew lead Ariana out. This was his cue to leave.

He approached Charles Lobo.

"Alpha Lobo I will take my leave now. Something urgent came over. Where is the new couple I would like to congratulate them befor leaving."

Charles Lobo took him to Alex and Sofia. Val congratulated them and left. Signalling Lily to follow him.

By the time Remo and Alex realised that Ariana is missing she was already on her way to Silver Moon Pack. As they were incharge for the whole event they knew about cameras and easily avoided them to ship Ariana and Drew out.

Val asked his men to not worry about the speed limits and signals, just take Ariana to Daniel's flat as soon as possible. He himself broke all of that. He just hoped that they are on time. That they save Daniel and Serena.

Just as they reached the building Doctor mind-linked him,

'Beta Val come fast. Something is happening to Alpha Daniel.'

He rushed to the lift with Drew in tow and Ariana in the arms of Lily.

'Just hold on for few more minutes Daniel please.' He thought. He tried to mind-link with Daniel but failed to do so. He was afraid that they will be late.
