Chapter 6 Dreams

Henry stood there gazing at the closed door. Eventually, he sat at the table and reviewed the spells and skills he had learned earlier. He opened his profile and stared at the screen that appeared. [Skills:Short-distance teleportation, Fireblast, and Stealth] He got up and decided to work out before getting to bed: 100: sit-ups, 100: push-ups, and 100 squats. Once he finished, he didn't feel satisfied, so he repeated it three more times leaving him out of breath. "I'm a champion" Henry muttered as he crawled to his bed, his body snoring and tired. He quickly succumbed to a deep and restful sleep. "Henry!" He opened his eyes as he heard someone screaming his name and mumbled. "Smith?" That's when he realized he was dreaming. Henry stood about ten meters from the scene where a wolf was slowly eating up his best friend Smith. "Save me, Henry!" Smith screamed out. "I will Smith!" Henry muttered and try to move but he couldn't. *Roar* The wolf roared and finally pierced its claw into Smits's neck. "No!" Henry screamed in pain as he finally woke up from the dream. He woke up panicking while looking around, but he soon remembered where he was. Henry tried to relax but he couldn't, so he exited the bed and stumbled over to the window before opening it. The sun hadn't yet risen, but the breeze blowing against his skin felt relaxing. His mind reeled. The nightmare messed up with him but he felt it happened for a reason. Henry ignored all the thoughts running through his mind, he jumped on the window ledge and sat down to watch the city. It was lively at this time of morning. Numerous carriages were in the plaza near the castle. He saw a market setup as people walked to and from work or adventures taking quests while leaving the city. After a while, he finally got up from the window ledge when he finally calmed down. He put on a new shirt and pants while throwing the rest of his stuff into his storage ring along with his sword. As he finished getting ready he heard a knock at the door. "Come in" The door opens, and he sees Helen walking in but notices she's lost in taught before speaking. "Morning Henry, I brought you some food before you leave". She put a tray on the table with bacon and eggs heaped on it. Henry walked over to the table and sat down to eat. He stuffed his face with the delicious breakfast and wondered what was wrong with the girl. "What's wrong Helen? You seem lost in taught." She shook her head before speaking "Henry we won't see each other for years, I know this sounds weird but I love you and I'm getting more addicted to you, please will you try to write to me? I asked Belinda if I could send letters to you through the guild, and she said they could" She looked embarrassed until Henry reassured her. "It's okay Helen, I was going to write to you anyways so don't worry, I'll even come to visit you as much as possible" He finished the food before standing up and quickly approached her. Henry taught inwardly as he looked deep into her beautiful eyes. "Do you want to walk to the gate with me?" Helen nodded with a smile as they left the room, heading for the castle gate. A sarcastic voice came behind them as they approached the exit. "The weak doesn't belong here. I can't believe you've failed to protect your dad and brought shame to the kingdom" A tall woman with black hair, pointing ears like his, and blue eyes. Her whole body was covered with armor and a long sword was by her side. Henry ignored her comment, and exited the castle. Ten minutes later, they arrived at the castle entrance. The two came to a stop. Henry shocked Helen by hugging her and whispering something to her ear that made her cheeks turn red like tomatoes and her heart beat racing. "Goodbye for now Helen, I'll see you soon" Henry pulled away and started turning to leave. She hesitated a little before running to him and quickly pecked him on the cheek. Before bolting away like a sacred cat, he laughed as he watched her run back into the castle. "My heart has chosen her" Henry muttered and turn around as he began his journey to the guild. Walking up to the guild he approached the massive door and pushed them open with his body. He looked towards the counter and spotted a woman with brown hair green eyes, and loads of cute freckles sat looking at some papers. 'Where's Rukky?' Henry spoke inwardly as he walked towards the counter. He nodded his head. "Yes, I understand" The woman smiles before introducing herself. "I'm Fave and I will be your receptionist. Now wait for a bit while your card is processed. Let me explain what quest you can take at your rank. You can take any F or E-ranked quest but none higher than E. If you're in a group you'll be allowed to take D rank quest, understand?" "Yes," Henry replied and nodded. She nodded and started walking off to sort out the cards. "Hey.. wait, what about Rukky" Henry asked. "She had been transferred to a Guild at the West" The receptionist replied as she continued to walk to sort his card. While he was waiting he overheard the adventures talking about him. "Look at the elf, he's pretty cute" "He's so cute, why does he choose to become an adventure ?" "I love his red hair and his pretty blue eyes" Ignoring all the gossip he heard, Henry blocked it out while waiting for Fave to return. She returned ten minutes later, passing Henry an amber-colored card. "Here you go. It has your name, rank, and the quest you've completed on it." Henry took the card and started to look at it, his name was printed across it, and the guild symbol was also on it. "Thanks Mrs Fave, I'm about to begin to take quests now; it has been nice meeting you" After speaking he walked off and said goodbye to her; he made his way to the quest three huge boards with loads of paper stuck to them. He was walking over to look for a mission that caught his attention. After reading through most of the F or E-ranked quests, he realized they were to help people around the city. Henry noticed one that caught his eye, he picked it up and started reading it. [Alex dog's hunt: wild dogs are causing havoc outside my farm. If any adventure could come and help us, we'll be eternally grateful if someone can deal with them] [Reward: 10 Gold coin] "I will take this as a start with the guild" He ripped the paper off and walked towards the counter while all the adventures watched him. "Here I want to take this quest please" As Fave read the quest, she got worried and asked in a consine tone. "Are you sure you want to take this Henry, they're deadly, and even worse, they roam in packs" "I can handle it don't worry" Henry replied with a smile. She sighed. "Give me your guard card so I can assign your quest." He handed her the card. She used it to do something on the counter, which he couldn't see. "It's ready now, it's been assigned to you, Henry you've five days to finish it or you will face the penalty" He nodded in response and asked her where the quest was located. "So where is this farm?" Looking at the information she turned her attention back to Henry before telling him. "To reach the Alex farm, you must travel approximately two hours on foot from the eastern gate. Once you exit the gate, head north and the farm will be visible" "Okay Fave, thanks for your help" Henry thanked her and existed the guild. While he arrived outside the door, he turned towards the Eastern gate and started walking. Ten minutes later he arrived at the gate. It was very tall, at least thirty meters tall, made of solid green marble-like stones, just like some building inside the City. Guards patrolled the wall above, watching out over the grassland. He approached the entrance and passed through without any guard looking at him. After exiting the city he looked around and started heading north, marveling at the landscape he saw. A rolling plane ends in the forest that bordered the city. It was only a mile far away from here. He felt his stomach growl. "Damm, I don't have any food, well, hopefully, I can hunt for something to eat" That's when he looked up and saw a farm from the distance. He decided to Walk towards it and saw a wooden single-story building. It's looked a bit warm out but still functional. Henry approached it and knocked on the door when he got outside. He heard footsteps approaching the door and an older-looking man opened it with a fed-up expression. "Ah..mm" Henry shook his head as he brought out his guard card. "Look" The old man saw the amber cards in Henry's hands and his eyes widened. "Emm sorry, young man you're the adventure who will deal with the dogs?" Henry nods "Where're they?". The man stepped out of the house while answering. "Well, they're back of the farm, where it's bordered the forest. They have been getting closer to the house every day." He sighed before finishing "Thank you for coming to help us young man, my name is Alex" Looking at the middle-aged man. "Nice to meet you, Alex, I'm Henry, I'll deal with them now" After speaking he turned around and started to walk to the back of the farm. After a brief walk, he arrived at the forest edge but saw no wild dogs. "Where are the...." Henry paused as he felt something was behind him. He slowly turned around and saw a wild dog lunging at him. "I got this" Henry muttered as he quickly cast Short distance teleportation and reappeared behind the dog. Pulling out his sword from his storage ring, he forcefully splashed the wild dog's head.
