Prologue
Queen Collimer hurried with quick graceful steps to the throne room. Surrounded by her trusted Fae warriors she spoke in hushed tones about the creature she needed their help to deal with. The Queen turned to the Fae males. “The creature had 10 eyes and various arms sprouting from the torso. I wouldn’t have blinked an eye at decapitating it but the commoners insisted the creature was good. Apparently, this is the Vigilante, Nightmare, from Delhavan. We have its arms chained and have yet to speak with the creature yet but it doesn’t seem to be resisting. I want your observations on this creature.” She spoke softly but worriedly.
The queen was young on the outside looking only in her mid 20’s but, the males knew she was as older than she appeared. They too, were of great age but their bodies didn’t look it. Instead of the baby faced children you would expect these men were honed for battle and were large in every sense of the word. The Queen herself was a great beauty and often was worshiped for her looks. Her reputation for trickery and foulness was well known, but her beauty often distracted people from the truth.
They approached the throne room doors and the males faced each other with stoic expressions, preparing for the beast inside. The two males up front, Forrester and Boon, pushed open the double doors. The other two males Fain And Terrowin escorted their Queen swiftly to the throne prepared to protect their Queen if necessary. The Queen, after being seated told a guard to bring the creature in.
Six guards dragged the creature in. The Queen’s description was accurate but she had failed to mention the grotesque tuffs of hair riddling the body. Arms were sprouted like branches from it’s torso and its eyes, oh God the eyes shifted around lazily taking everything in. Each eye focused on different details in the room. Terrowin stood by his Queens side narrowing his eyes at the creature. He was surprised at the calmness this creature displayed. The creature didn’t throw a hissy fit and act like a cornered animal. But acts more like a civilized human. Its moves were graceful yet bulky and each set of eyes held different emotions.
“State your purpose, creature.” Demanded the Queen. A pair of the eyes narrowed. “Unchain us and we will explain. We can not shift with these chains.” Came out a calm, collected voice. Boon was nearest to the creature growled at the creature. “Unchain you? What so you can slaughter us?” The eyes flicked over at Boon and a smile flicked to the creatures face a sweet human smile. Not the creepy one you would have expected from a creature of this caliber. “Unchain us and we will explain.” Called out a different voice it was gruffer and more masculine than the first voice. “We have no desire to harm you or your people unless you intend to harm us.” Came the first voice again. Another voice chimed in “Aldwin! Play nice when you talk to royalty. Mama raised you better.” Interrupted a haunting pair of voices. The voices silkily colliding in a mesh of tones.
“Enough.” The Queen stated. “Guards unchain it. Forrester! Boon! Stand Guard.” She commanded. A few guards step forward and started to unchain the creature trying to avoid touching the fleshy mounds on its skin. The chains clanked to the floor and the arms moved and seemed to be pulling away from each other. The flesh pulls away separating into mounds of flesh separating and taking shape into five hunched over figures.
