Chapter 86: The Devourer's Final Rage

654 Words
The sky slowly cleared after the Cataclysm’s explosion. Fragments of broken clouds drifted across the dark horizon while faint sparks of lightning faded into silence. The violent storm that once threatened to destroy the entire kingdom was finally gone. But the battle was far from over. High above the battlefield, three figures still floated within the fading smoke. Aria. Kael. And the Devourer. Dravoryx’s massive body hovered unsteadily in the air. The explosion had shattered many of the dark scales that once covered him like armor. Deep cracks ran across his body, leaking dark energy like smoke from burning stone. One of his wings hung badly torn. His breathing had grown heavy. For the first time since the battle began— The Devourer looked weakened. But his eyes still burned with terrifying fury. “You…” he growled slowly. His voice echoed like thunder through the open sky. “You dare destroy my Cataclysm.” Aria stood beside Kael, her silver aura glowing softly as she watched the wounded monster carefully. “We stopped you,” she said calmly. “That storm would have destroyed everything.” Dravoryx’s lips curled into a dark smile. “You think this is victory?” Suddenly— A violent wave of energy burst from his body. BOOOOM! Dark flames exploded outward, pushing back the remaining clouds around them. Kael immediately stepped in front of Aria, his golden aura rising in defense. “Careful,” he warned. Dravoryx lifted his head and roared. The sound shook the heavens. “You have taken my storm,” he thundered. “Then I will destroy you with my own hands!” Dark energy surged violently around him. The cracks across his body began glowing with a dangerous crimson light. Instead of weakening— The Devourer’s power was rising again. Aria frowned. “That’s impossible.” Kael’s eyes narrowed. “He’s burning his remaining energy.” Dravoryx’s laughter echoed across the sky. “Yes!” His claws clenched tightly as the crimson glow spread across his body like wildfire. “I will burn every last piece of my power if it means crushing you!” The Devourer’s form suddenly began changing. Dark flames wrapped around his body. His already massive form grew larger. His claws became longer and sharper. Even his wings expanded, though one remained damaged. It was a desperate transformation. A final form fueled by pure rage. Below them, Darius watched the transformation with raised eyebrows. “Well,” he muttered. “That looks unpleasant.” High in the sky, Dravoryx’s new form radiated overwhelming power. Even the air trembled around him. Aria felt the pressure immediately. “He’s stronger than before.” Kael nodded slowly. “But he’s unstable now.” The Devourer’s burning red eyes locked onto them again. “You will not survive this.” With a monstrous roar— He lunged forward. The speed of his attack shocked even Kael. BOOOOM! Dravoryx’s claws slammed into Kael’s defense, sending shockwaves across the sky. Kael barely managed to block the strike. The force pushed him backward through the clouds. Aria quickly followed, releasing a beam of moonlight toward the Devourer. Silver energy blasted across the sky. But Dravoryx tore through the attack with brute force. “You cannot stop me!” His tail whipped through the air again. CRASH! Kael was thrown back by the strike, barely recovering in time to stay airborne. For a moment— The Devourer looked unstoppable. But Kael slowly lifted his head again. His golden eyes burned with fierce determination. Because something inside him had begun to awaken. The Alpha markings across his body started glowing brighter. Much brighter than before. Aria noticed immediately. “Kael…” Golden energy pulsed through the air around him like a heartbeat. Something ancient was rising within the Alpha King. Something powerful. Something even Dravoryx had not expected. And the final phase of the battle… Had just begun.
