The lady that rushed inside was Sean's sister, Cynthia Lavender. She couldn't hold on to what she had seen on the Internet. So, she moved closer to Joe.
At this time, Sean moved closer to Ethan and slowly led him away from Drey.
“You don't sincerely have to disturb yourself with this lowlife. He's nothing and will forever be nothing.”
Cynthia pulled to a sudden stop when she saw Drey and Betty. She hadn't expected to see them inside. Nonetheless, she moved closer with her phone.
“Here, see Grandfather,” she uttered and showed him some pictures of Chairman Damon bowing and receiving Betty personally.
Joe's eyes widened with shock as he went through the pictures one after the other. He hurried closer to Adele and took the contract from her.
He went through it quickly. It was really true. The Medilife company was really able to secure an order worth 100 million dollars. He was overjoyed.
“Yes! You are truly a daughter of the Lavender!” Joe laughed, impressed with this.
“What about Drey, grandfather?” she asked again, bothered that her grandfather wasn't talking about the main reason why they secured the order in the first place.
“What about him?” Came the curt reply.
“You said you would let Drey stay if we can get the order,” she reminded.
Joe cleared his throat meaningfully and picked up his cigar. It was true he did say that, but he was also specific about it.
“Well, I said Drey has to seal the order, but you did. It has nothing to do with him because you brought it yourself. So, I'm ruling it out,” Joe decided.
“Yes! You have to divorce Drey now and marry Ethan,” Ann said.
Joe nodded once, in support of what Ann had said. “Yes, that's what you must do.”
“But grandpa, you have to keep to your word. You did say you would let Drey stay if we could do this,” Betty cried.
“Well, like I said the other time. It's still something I can cancel. With just a call from me, the ImperialSage Group will cancel their cooperation with the Medilife Company,” Ethan threatened with a silly smile on his face. “Or,” he looked at Joe. “Are you backing out already? My father will soon be the head of the family; you shouldn't cross me.”
“There will be no such thing,” Joe said quickly.
It was right Betty had really secured such orders from the Chairman of the ImperialSage Group, but there was no saying what would really happen if the Sterling son interfered.
Everyone knew that the GlobalPinnacle company just got into a contract with the ImperialSage Group. So, they get the first dibs on all orders. If Ethan Sterling speaks ill of them, it might be over for them.
“And what do we owe such a great pleasure of the big Sterling in our home!” Liam said suddenly, walking in. “It's my daughter, right? If you want her, you can have her.”
Betty was bewildered. “Dad! Mom, stop Dad!" She begged.
“Well, your father is right. Ethan Sterling is the right one for you. You have to divorce Drey and marry him,” Ann supported.
Ethan smiled, feeling proud of himself. “You've made a nice decision. I will definitely tell my father about you.”
Betty sulked in. She felt sad at the turn of things. She turned to Drey with a pitiful look.
“I'm sorry I was unable to do this. I thought I would finally be able to get grandfather's approval. I get I was wrong,” she said with a sad tone.
Drey huffed. “It's ok. It's not your fault, but then, I want you to call the chairman of the ImperialSage Group and ask him if Ethan can really cancel the order of the Medilife company. If that can happen, it means Ethan is truly the right one for you. Then, I will really step back.”
Everyone looked at Drey, impressed by his intelligence.
“See? Listen to Drey,” Ann said quickly. “Drey has no use for you. You should go with Ethan.”
Betty was still looking at Drey. She didn't quite understand what he was trying to say. Was he trying to admit defeat already? When they already said they were going to be together forever.
“No, I'm not going to break up with you, Drey. We promised forever,” Betty protested softly.
“It's ok, Betty. Do it,” Drey told her softly.
Betty nodded briefly and pulled out her phone from her bag, with the business card that Damon gave her.
Sean took the phone from her suddenly. “You are calling no one. I don't know why you still want to waste your time with this lover!”
Ethan started laughing suddenly. “I like his bravery, but I will show you how big I am today,” he uttered and pulled out his phone. “Since you are already asking too much, I will demand the termination of the contract with the ImperialSage Group,” he voiced out.
Everyone's eyes widened with shock.
“Please, Mr. Ethan, don't do this,” Ann beseeched softly.
“Oh, no worry,” Ethan smiled. “I just want to prove it to this loser that he is nothing. Then, I will make sure you get the order back,” he assured.
At this point, everyone released a sigh of relief.
Ethan dialled a number. “Hello, this is Ethan Sterling. I am calling you on behalf of the Sterling family. I want you to terminate the contract with the ImperialSage company,” he hesitated briefly. “Good,” he finished and hung up.
Drey scoffed. “Can Betty have her phone back now?”
Sean stretched out Betty's phone to her.
Betty took it and looked at Drey.
“Call the chairman, Betty,“ he ordered.
Betty nodded once and dialled Damon's number.
He picked it up immediately as if he had been waiting for her call. “Hello, Miss?”
“This is Betty Lavender, the one from the GlobalPinnacle company that you signed with recently,” she reminded.
“Yes, is everything alright?”
She glanced at Drey. “I called because someone said they can make you terminate the contract you signed with the GlobalPinnacle company.”
“What? Ethan Sterling? Wait, give me a few minutes,” he said and hung up.
He was really fuming after he had ended the call. He wondered who Ethan Sterling was because he wasn't in charge of the orders or most contracts. It was the vice president's work.
Just by asking, he was finally able to know who the Sterling family was. They were the heads of the four strong families in the city. And recently they just signed a huge contract with the ImperialSage Group that made them have priority order rights.
“You are fired! He told the vice president and entered his office to call Betty.
“Hello, Betty. No one can cancel the contract that was checked and signed by myself,” he muttered. It was on loudspeaker, so everyone heard.
“In fact, I will make the Sterling family regret it now,” he swore before he hung up.
Ethan scoffed. “And do you expect me to believe that? Obviously, the person you just called is an imposter. You did really think that the ImperialSage would want to cancel cooperation with the mighty Sterling family. It was impossible."
Just then, his phone rang suddenly. It was his father.
He has barely picked up when a man yelled into the speaker, almost making him go deaf.
“Who the heck did you offend that the ImperialSage Group cancelled the cooperation with the Sterling family?
