Just as they both stepped out of the Lavender's villa, Betty broke down. She was worried and sad. When she was nothing, everyone was ready to cast her away. Now that she had finally seen love, they seemed to be hell bent on separating them.
“I'm sorry, Drey, that this happened,” she apologised.
Drey looked at her, at her sullen expression. “Your grandfather has spoken. He will have no choice but to acknowledge us as husband and wife when I get the orders,” he gently held her by the chin and forced her face up.“So, brighten up, wife.”
Betty blushed slightly, but she soon recovered. “But it's ImperialSage Group we are talking about. It's not even easy to secure a deal; talk more of getting a contract worth 50 million dollars!”
She knew all there was to know about the Euphorix Bio. It was the biggest company in the city anyway, in all aspects. It was leading even globally.
Drey smiled and shrugged slightly. “We will never know until we try.”
Holding hands, they both walked to Betty's house. All lavender houses are located in the same residential area. Where the Lavender's headquarter was the villa, the rest of the family had their special places.
Betty went to get a glass of wine while Drey settled down. It was the first time that Drey would be entering her house anyway. And even though it wasn't anything compared to Drey's house, it still wasn't lacking anything luxurious.
Betty sat beside Drey and poured the wine into the cups.
“I'm still worried because you told them you could get the deal by tomorrow,” Betty said suddenly.
Then she remembered something. “I actually have a friend that works in Euphorix Bio. She's in partnership with the ImperialSage Group. If she recommends us to them, we might have a chance.”
Drey nodded once. “Okay.”
Having been stressed, Betty laid back against the chair and closed her eyes. In the next few minutes, she was fast asleep.
Drey scooped her in his arms and took her to the bedroom. He placed her on the bed and covered her with the bedding before he stepped out.
He whisked his phone from his pocket and went through his contact list. As a very influential commander, he had a lot of people at his beck and call. He has a lot of influence. So, getting a partnership with the ImperialSage Group was like ABC.
He placed a call to the chairman in charge of the ImperialSage Group. He picked it up immediately, as if he had been expecting him to call.
“Hello commander,” he stammered.
He had Drey's contact saved, and the moment he saw his call, a lot of thoughts went through his mind. He wondered why Drew was calling. He was scared he might have wronged him.
The chairman, Damon, was a man of great honour. Everyone always trembled in front of him, especially business people that wanted to get partnership deals with him. But in Drey's case, the reverse seems to be the case.
Drey Redford wasn't a man to be messed with. His anger was worse than fire.
“My wife is coming over to ImperialSage Group tomorrow to secure a partnership deal worth over fifty million dollars. You are to receive her personally and make sure she gets it,” he muttered with authority.
Damon mentally wiped off the beads of perspiration from his forehead. He thought Drey actually called him for something serious.
“That's done, sir. I will even give her a deal worth two hundred million dollars if you want.
“My wife's name is Betty Lavender.”
“Alright sir. It's all done!” Damon assured.
Drey hung up without another word and moved to drink the wine that Betty had poured for him.
Then he remembered that he had yet to visit the ruins of his family's home to pay his respects since he had returned.
He stepped out of the house and moved into the street to take a taxi.
A black Royce Roll pulled to a stop in front of him, and a tall man rushed out.
He bowed. “Commander.”
Drey regarded him for a moment. “Haven't I ordered everyone to leave? What are you doing here, Charles?”
“Yes sir. I've told everyone to return to the military, but I want to stay. I hope you can accept my wish,” he expressed.
Drey nodded eventually.“Alright. Take me to the Redford ruins then.”
Charles nodded once and hurried to open the door for him.
…
The sky was dark and lightning struck as Charles pulled to a stop in front of the ruins.
Just as Drey kneeled in front of his family tomb, the sky released a torrent of rain. Charles, already knowing this, had an umbrella in his hand, which he held over him when the rain started.
Drew sobbed quietly. The spot where he was kneeling used to be the Redford Villa years ago, but now it is ruined and has been replaced by tombs.
The thought of the past hurt him so much.
Ten years ago, the Redford family was the number one prominent family in Orange Park.
When he was eighteen, his father married a woman. She was the cause of all the bad things that have befallen the Redford family. Cynthia was that devil incarnate. She at first drugged his grandfather and lied that he attempted to r**e her, thereby slandering the family reputation. She then accused his father of bribery and embezzlement of funds. This allegation triggered a heart attack. But that wasn't all; she poisoned his father and lied that he committed suicide out of guilt.
After his father had died, the Sterling family conspired with four families in Orange Park. They held the Redford family hostage and demanded for the Redford family's heirloom, an antique oil painting. And after obtaining it, they set fire to the Redford Villa and divided their assets.
Drey cried even harder.
“It's your fault, father. You married Cynthia. You brought all this hardship on us!”
He hated Cynthia Sterling for what she had done.
The Sterling, Madison, Marshall, and Sommer families killed the Redford family.
“I will not let this go,” Drey muttered suddenly. “I will not stop until I have all their heads. Everyone will pay for messing with the Redford. I will avenge your death!” He swore.
Charles watched him for a moment, shocked. He has always known Drey to be a very tough man, and he has never seen this soft side of him.
Drey was a strong man, but this side of him was new to him.
“My condolences, Commander,” Charles muttered.
“Commander, the Sterling family is hosting a celebration tonight for the GlobalPinnacle Group for signing a permanent agreement with ImperialSage Group. Now, they will have early access to their orders before any companies or groups. Also, today is the Sterling family patriarch's birthday. So, it's a double celebration.”
GlobalPinnacle Group?
The GlobalPinnacle Group used to belong to the Redford family. Now, it has fallen into the Sterling family's hands.
Drey stood up, with his fist clenched beside him. “We are going to the party. It's time to start the promise I have made to my grandfather!”
“Send a coffin to the Sterling family. It's Mason's birthday gift.”
