Chapter 7: The dinner date

Simon’s Pov

After breakfast, Levi took me to a lake that was nearby and we just walked in silence holding hands. It was the most peaceful and intimate moment I’ve ever had in my life. I smiled and felt content as Axel purred in agreement. I was so busy thinking about earlier that I hadn’t even noticed the time. It was a quarter to 8 and Levi was supposed to pick me up at 8:30 for dinner tonight. I went into a panic realizing how much time I wasted and sprinted towards the shower to hurry and wash my ass. No way was I gonna smell like a dog or something on my first official date. Axel snarled at me feeling offended my by thoughts and I immediately apologized so he knew I wasn’t trying to offend him.

“That’s alright” he grumbled before going back to being excited about the date.

I showered and brushed my teeth before drying off and running to my room to get ready. f**k I only had 10 minutes to be ready and had no idea what I was wearing!!

Axel: Bottom draw in the closet

‘What?’

Axel: Just do it

I was confused but did as he said and ran to the closet door. Throwing it open like a mad man, I dove for the draw and ripped it open before stopping. Holy s**t.

In the draw was an outfit that I pulled and was stunned by how amazing it was. There was a black button up made of silk, khaki suspenders with a shimmering black strip going up both arm parts and a silver bow tie. There was also a box that had some very nice looking dress boots and a charm bracelet with a wolf howling at the moon pendant on it. This outfit was picked by the freaking moon goddess herself.

‘When did you do this?’

Axel: I’ve been hiding it from you since we turned of age. Just a little something incase our mate came along.

‘It’s f*****g amazing, thank you so much’

Axel: We got to dress to impress, now hurry and put it on so our mates jaw can drop.

I smiled ask I put on deodorant and then my outfit. After spraying on my rose perfume (because cologne is way too manly for my taste), I run my hand through my soft curls and add hair spray to keep them extra curly all night. I smile at myself in the mirror as the doorbell rings. Walking down the stairs I smile as I take in the wonderful scent of my mate from behind the door.

I open the door and there stand my new boyfriend…

Wow I still can’t believe I have a mate now. It’s crazy but so exciting.

He stood tall, smelling f*****g amazing, like seriously whatever cologne he had on was driving me wild. He had on a black shirt with a matching black leather jacket, dark blue jeans and a pair of high top all white Nikes. He also had on a shark tooth necklace and a very expensive Calvin Klein watch.

“Damn our man cleans up nice” Axel purrs seductively and I have to stop myself from getting worked up.

“These are for you” he says quietly before handing me a bouquet of white roses.

“Thank you” I say, beaming at the pretty flowers. I invite him inside while I try to find a vase to set them in. Luckily I find a very cute pink and teal marble vase under the counter. Whoever lives here before really had nice taste. I rinse it out a few times before filling it half way with fresh water and putting the flowers inside. It looks amazing on the kitchen table and I couldn’t be happier.

Hand in hand, we head out the door and I lock up before we’re off for the evening.

We arrive at a very nice looking Mexican restaurant and I smile widely. I remember him asking me what’s my favorite thing to eat earlier on the car ride home and I immediately told him Mexican. I’ve been around the world since I’m always moving so I’ve tasted quite a few cuisines, and none captivated me more than Mexican food. The way it tingles and dances with your taste buds is nothing I’ve experienced with anything else. When I used to live in New Mexico, the waiters of my favorite cafe would joke and call me a “white boy with a mexican heart” and I’d laugh with them knowing they were right. It’s such a shame I had to leave but maybe one day I’d be able to go back for a visit.

We were seated at one of the best tables they had, and we even had our own balcony so we were able to dine privately away from everyone else. I’ve never been accustomed to such lavish living and honestly it made me feel special. I deserved this didn’t I?

“So, my little mate. First I’d like to start off by saying you look incredible”

I smiled at his words and waited for him to continue.

“And secondly, I was wondering if I could talk to you more and continue where we left off this morning. About...you know”

My mood instantly changed and I sighed but nodded.

“Why are you so uncomfortable with people looking at you or talking to you?”

I remained silent until finally I looked up in his eyes.

“I’m tired of torment and will not ever go through it again okay?”

He looked at me shocked as tears starting forming in my eyes. He immediately came to my side and held me.

“I’m so sorry baby, I won’t ask anymore I just-“

“No...no you need to hear this”

I breathed out heavily.

“You’re my mate, you need to know”

Axel growled lowly and I zoned out as I started to explain my past. I don’t remember everything I said but when I came too, Levi was literally shaking and his eyes were pitch black. A powerful aura pooled off him in waves and his wolf was fighting to claw its way to the surface.

“Honey?” I asked, placing a calming hand in his chest.

“Nobody hurts my Luna” he said in a voice so dangerous and low, it made me shiver. He was so sexy when he was angry.

Luna?

“What do you mean Luna?” I panicked

Levi’s Pov

“You’re my mate you need to know”

My wolf and I stirred as he told us about his life...to say it was terrible was putting it lightly. Simon’s eyes glazed over and suddenly both him and his wolf were present, telling us exactly why they were so afraid of everything.

Simon & Axel explaining:

“I grew up Delaware and was a part of the Eclipse Pack. My father was the beta but I wasn’t going to take over since I had an older brother. Naturally he was going to take the position once father retired. Everything was fine until I was about 9 years old…then everything changed. My brother Eric and his mate got into a huge argument at the pack house and she told him to leave. I didn’t understand what the argument was about but she told me once I was older. Apparently, he was cheating on her and she told him that she needed a mate who was loyal not a scumbag. My brother and my father both drank whenever they were emotional and he ended up getting drunk and causing a car crash..

He killed himself when he swerved off a cliff and died immediately on impact.

Everyone in the pack was heart broken and my mother was so sad she ended up taking her life. She told me that I’d never be enough to take his place, nobody was enough. I should’ve paid attention to my mother the night she died. Looking back, she kept telling me she loved me and that I’d be fine on my own. Being 9, I couldn’t see the warning signs then but I definitely can now.

I guess the loss of my mother and brother was too hard in my father so he took out all his anger on me. He would beat me for every little thing and call me all types of names imaginable. But strangely, that’s not why I’m so terrified of everything.

It’s because of Kain.”

“Alpha Kain??” I asked in shock and horror. He was well known and seemed like a nice guy.

“Yeah, the one and only. He’s...my ex boyfriend. One day he saw me on the training grounds since I needed to be ready to accept the beta title since my brother passed. He came up to me and one conversation lead to one date until eventually...he asked me to be his. I eagerly accepted and life suddenly became better. He warned my father that if he mistreated me again he’d be banished and everyone in the pack respected me so much more.

I was so happy and thought it was too good to be true.

And it was.

Only days into the relationship and he started to beat me, call me worthless and make me separate from family and friends. His wolf was extremely jealous and if he so much as thought I looked at another person I was rewarded a trip to the hospital.

On the night of the mating ceremony, he found his mate but rejected her because she was human. He said she was too weak and pathetic and when the poor girl tried to change his mind..his wolf ripped her to shreds in front of everyone, and nobody helped her. That’s when I realized the pack would let him get away with anything no matter what it was and I was instantly horrified.

On my 16th birthday, I was moved from my father’s house to his room and he explained how he wanted to mate with me and mark me as his own. He said he knew I wasn’t of age yet but if I gave him permission, then us mating would break the bond I had with my true mate and we could be together forever. I immediately turned him down and said I wanted my real mate and he was furious. He tried to mark me by force and held me down but thank god a pack of rouges attacked us. He told me that I would be his no matter what and that he’d take what was rightfully his when he got back. I slipped past the guards he had posted at his room, and while everyone was busy with the attack, I packed some money, clothes, and food and ran away. Ever since then, I’ve kept moving from town to town and have never looked back.”

I snarled angrily at this and my body immediately started shaking.

“I’ll kill him!!!!” Percy boomed in my mind and fought for control.

“Honey?” I heard Simon’s sweet voice dance around my ears followed by a strong tingling sensation as he placed his hand on my chest.

“Nobody hurts my Luna” I growled and I could feel him become slightly aroused before fear took over.

“What do you mean Luna?” He squeaked.
