Chapter 2: Levi

Claws slashed towards each other and growls could be heard throughout the courtyard. It was the usual training session and the warriors were looking better than ever. “Great job!!!” “Keep pushing!!” My voice boomed as I encouraged my pack members to do their absolute best. We’d be getting random attacks lately that started to pick up frequently in the last week out of nowhere. We weren’t afraid seeing as how our pack had so many members it was ridiculous. Still, that didn’t stop us from being cautious and staying on our toes. People still had families and pups to protects. Well, everyone had pups and families except me it seemed. I frowned at that thought and became a bit...emotional. Okay not me, but my wolf, Percy. Mind link: Percy: Why must you remind me? ‘I’m sorry it just randomly came up in my mind’ Percy: Well randomly think of something else f*****g jerk I rolled my eyes as my wolf snarled at me. He was upset we still hadn’t found a mate and so was I. Everyone found their mate once you turned of age at 18. I still hadn’t found mine yet and I’m 23 years old now. It made me a little bitter because I was lonely and jealous at all the other wolves who were in love around me. I shook off the thought and grumbled as I looked over the training session as it came to a close. Everyone shifted back to human form and listened to critiques and praises from me. With a final roar I dismissed everyone to spend the rest of the day as they pleased before shifting myself and heading to the pack house. When I got there, I got dressed and headed for my office. “Doing something?” I jumped before snapping my jaws at my mother. She was a petite woman, about 5’5, with features that were identical to mine. Black hair, sparkling aqua blue eyes, and two dimples on her cheeks. She had a warm smile that could light up any room and was always the life of the party. The only time my mother was never so happy and warming was when my father died….a terrible day is putting it lightly. That day nearly shattered her along with the rest of this pack. But I picked us back up in no time. “Young man, I asked you a question.” I rolled my eyes. “Don’t you dare roll your eyes at your mother!!” “I’m sorry mom, I’m just coming to review the reports on some of the attacks we’ve had lately. I might schedule a meeting with neighboring packs who’ve been having the same issues.” This time she rolls her eyes and frowned deeply. “Honey I understand you love this pack but you’ve been working your fingers to the bone since the day you took the alpha title!!!” I crossed my arms. Knowing exactly where this was leading to. An argument. “Yes mother I know, I’m doing my job to protect us all.” I stated through gritted teeth. “No, you’re using work as an excuse to not live life. You take everything way too seriously and I don’t understand why!” “Because if I don’t protect us and do my job, then nobody can live happily like they do now!” “Levi Aston Harper!!!” She boomed and I shrunk down a bit. I might be an alpha but she was still my mother. Even my wolf whined at hers. ‘You work too much and I won’t stand for it!!! Tomorrow you’re going out with Tyler and that’s it! End of discussion!!!’ I frowned but grumbled and agreed before she smiled and gave me a smile hug. “I love you son” “And I love you mother” “And I love you too baby” a voice said before we both turned around. My best friend and beta Tyler was leaving in the doorway grinning like an i***t. I turned and looked at my mother who was giving me a look of total innocence. “What?” “You mind linked to make sure he was aware of tomorrow so I wouldn’t blow it off, didn’t you?” She shook her head but smirked as she walked past. “I’m ready for our date tomorrow” he joked and I silently cursed myself.
