JAZMINE SEBASTIAN. Everyone looked very excited for the super ball except me, I was so mad and didn’t want to attend. But my mother persuaded me to attend under the impression that I would meet other future leaders like myself and have a conversation with them. To tell the truth, I was in no way interested in having a conversation with anyone, especially not leaders who were completely different from me. “Jazmine, do away with that book this instant.” My mother roared from the corner of the room where she was getting ready for the event. She looked very pretty and her crown sat on her head elegantly. A harsh reminder of the life that awaited me. I dropped the book, my frustration evident in my tone. “What time will we return from the event?” I asked gruffly, reluctant to spend even a moment longer than necessary in the werewolf territory. The thought of setting foot in that place again was daunting, considering I hadn't returned since my father's death. He had been the beta of the previous king of werewolves, and the memories of that fateful day still lingered, making the territory a painful reminder of my past. “Are you even dressed?” My sister Madelyn questioned as she walked into the room, adorned in a red dress. Madelyn is my little sister, I am a year older than her. “Of course I am dressed.” I said, My mother, along with Madelyn, scrutinized my outfit from head to toe. Madelyn suddenly burst into laughter. Angrily, my mother walked over to me. “Dressed like this to a super ball? Are you crazy Jazmine?” I rolled my eyes. “Mum I am not interested in attending this ball anyways, honestly I wouldn’t have a problem staying home if you have a problem with my outfit.” I stated, making my mother bury her face in her palm. She took a deep breath and ordered the maids to pick up the hem of her dress. “Very well, do as you please. Make sure you’re in the car before I get there.” She turned on her heels and walked away after curtly stating. Madelyn on the other hand turned to me, a disturbed look on her face. “Are you sure…” I cut her off, not wanting to hear any more remarks about my outfit. “Keep your words to yourself and get out of here.” I stated, she rolled her eyes and walked out of the changing room. Leaving me alone with the mirror, which I stared at intently, scrutinizing the blue pants and the red hoodie I was wearing. Alright, I do know this isn’t an outfit to wear to a ball but I do not want to be in a dress, I utterly dislike dresses. They weren’t my thing, even though they always looked very good on me. Without having a second thought, I made my way out of the changing room and proceeded outside, where the car’s that would take us to the event were awaiting us. Of course I had my book with me, there was no way I was going to let myself get bored at the event, filled with gossip. I decided not to sit with my mother and Madelyn and sat in a different vehicle that would be accompanying us to the event. I didn’t want any more remarks about my book or attitude from them. I was sure they saw me and are definitely shaking their heads and making fun of my outfit at the moment. Just as I thought, my phone began to ring, I sighed, realizing it was Madelyn. I picked up the call anyway. “Why are you sitting in that car?” She asked. “That is none of your business!” I hung up on her and comfortably took my seat. I could see the driver staring at me through the rear view mirror, I smiled at him and plugged in my headphones, attempting to avoid any conversation. I was so engrossed in my book, I had no idea how the drive was going or what we passed as we drove by. But unfortunately my reading was cut short when the driver tapped on my book, I unplugged my headphones and realized we were in a familiar location that oozed power, the werewolf territory. Everywhere looked decorated, it was such a beautiful place and I couldn't wait to be out of here soon. “Thank you.” I said to the driver, he smiled and waved at me as I got down and walked over to my mum and Madelyn who had a scowl on their face as they awaited me by the entrance of the royal palace. “You should have come with us.” My mother scolded as she smiled at the cameras as they took photos of her and us. I ignored her comment and stared at everywhere else aside from the camera. Of course people gave me weird stares because of my outfit, I didn’t give a s**t about it and majestically made my way into the hall that housed over a million people. I gulped, not expecting this many people to attend the event. Regardless of that I trailed behind my mother as she received pleasantries from people, they were all happy to see her and Madelyn, who were the only people they recognized. As for me, I avoided eye contact with a lot of people as I managed to sneak my way out toward the familiar halls where I ran through during my childhood when my late father was still alive and we lived here together. The hall brought memories of my father and I couldn’t help the tears that fell as I reminisced those beautiful moments we had together. Regardless, I arrived at the huge library where I spent most of my life during my stay here, it looked just as I left it. I smiled widely as I spotted my favorite place to sit, which was under the huge table that sat in the library. This was the perfect place to hide away from people because I know a lot of people are not interested in reading, especially the ladies whose ulterior motive for attending this event was to catch a glimpse of Alpha Zade, the official king of werewolves. I really dislike him and see no reason why anyone would want to be with him. Of course it was because of his looks, which is undeniably handsome and also because of his status, this was the reason why ladies wanted him so badly. Anyways I decided to disregard any thoughts regarding Zade or the ball and read my book. It was too good and I couldn’t stop reading it until the enemies became lovers. You got me, it was a romance novel. I was so concentrated on it that I almost missed the aura that walked into the room. For a second there I could have sworn I just got my wolf but I was certain it was something else. Aside from the aura, I heard footsteps which approached the table where I sat below. Following the footsteps, I heard the owner clear his throat, it was a man. “Mate!” I heard the man say aggressively and then he calmly repeated. I swallowed a very huge gulp and held onto my book tightly. “I know you are under the table mate, come out.” Was he speaking to me? And did he just refer to me as his mate? No, this can’t be happening. I chose to ignore his call. Suddenly the table was lifted up and before me stood him, Zade Lethal. The so-called man that referred to me as his mate, something I couldn’t believe because I hadn’t gotten my wolf yet. “I’m sure there is a mixup up somewhere,” I said, standing on my feet. He had a look of shock on his face which later turned to disgust. “There has got to be, because there is no way a child is my mate.” he said. His eyes scanning my outfit from head to toe, I could see the disappointment in his eyes, he looked very angry. “So let me make this simple for you and reject you.” I stated, his face suddenly morphed into a shocked one. “I, Jazmine Sebastian, reject you, Alpha King Zade Lethal as my mate.” I said, I expected to feel an electric shock as most people had exaggerated a rejection to be but nothing happened. I was okay and so was Zade. Another thing that surprised me was when he spoke. “I, Zade Lethal, Alpha King of Werewolves, accept your rejection,” he declared. Actually, it didn't surprise me at all. I was relieved that he accepted my rejection so readily. Alpha’s do not like being rejected. “Okay, I should leave now.” I bent to pick my book to leave but he stopped me by holding my arm aggressively, either he meant to hurt me or his grip was hard. “No one should ever find out that I was mated to you, got it? I want nothing to do with a girl like you, so I’d prefer you keep this a secret and not go around spreading it.” he stated curtly. “I want nothing to do with you as well, and I can assure you that you aren’t as special as you may think, so no I will not tell my friends about you.” His face fell flat when I said. “So please, let my arm go this instant.” He did as I instructed, but his eyes stared at me irritatedly, he seemed to be digesting and comprehending what I had just said. I ignored all this and walked out of the library, the thoughts of him being my mate slowly settling in my mind.
