For a moment they stood close to each other on the platform.
The sunlight above had begun to fade as the afternoon slowly turned toward evening.
Aria lowered her hands.
Then she felt it again.
That strange warmth.
But this time it wasn’t sudden.
It grew slowly between them like a quiet pull.
She looked up at Kael.
His golden eyes were already on her.
The connection between them hummed quietly in the air.
Aria swallowed slightly.
“You feel that again?”
Kael nodded.
“Yeah.”
Neither of them moved.
The silence between them was different now.
Closer.
Aria shifted slightly.
“Torren’s going to be insufferable if he finds out about this.”
Kael chuckled.
“Absolutely.”
She smiled faintly.
Then the smile faded as their eyes met again.
The warmth grew stronger.
Kael stepped closer.
Not much.
Just enough that Aria could feel the heat of him standing beside her.
Her heart began beating a little faster.
“This… mate bond thing,” she said quietly.
Kael tilted his head.
“What about it?”
She hesitated.
“I don’t hate it.”
That surprised him enough to make him smile.
“Good.”
Aria crossed her arms lightly.
“I said I don’t hate it.”
He laughed softly.
“Noted.”
