Why Me

Aria stared into the fire again. “So now he wants me.” “Yes,” Lyra said simply. Torren wiped his hands off and stood. “And he’s not going to stop until he gets you.” Kael leaned forward slightly. “That’s why we can’t stay here.” Aria looked at him. “What do you mean?” Darius sheathed his blade. “The village is no longer safe.” Lyra nodded. “Vargan will return with a larger force next time.” Torren cracked his neck. “And when he does, he won’t just bring wolves.” Aria’s eyes narrowed. “What does that mean?” Darius met her gaze. “There are other creatures in the world besides werewolves.” Kael sighed. “Some of them are more than willing to work for Vargan.” Torren grinned. “Which means things are about to get a lot more interesting.” Lyra ignored him. She stepped closer to Aria. “We need to move you somewhere safer while you learn to control your power.” Aria frowned. “And where exactly is that?” Darius answered. “There is a place known to the Alphas.” Torren smiled. “Old territory. Hidden deep in the mountains.” Kael’s eyes widened slightly. “The Moon Temple?” Lyra nodded. “It was built long ago for the MoonBorn.” Aria blinked. “You’re telling me there’s a temple just waiting for me somewhere?” Torren shrugged. “Pretty much.”
