Lariyah POV

I woke up the next day to the smell of sausage and bacon. It smells like heaven and my stomach is grumbling just waiting to dig in. I'm still a little groggy, so I got up to take a shower. I washed my hair, shaved my legs, washed my body and brushed my teeth as soon as I got out and I felt so refreshed. I get the feeling that today is going to be a great day. It's only been a day but Ahri and I can already feel like this was the best move for us, Like we were meant to be here for some reason.

I walked downstairs and greeted my parents before sitting down for breakfast.

" What are your plans for today, sweetheart. " my dad asks

" Actually, I was going to see if I could come with you to talk to Alpha Andrew about if or when I could let Ahri out to run without being noticed. "

" He asked me to come alone and needed to talk to me about something private, but I'll let him know you need to talk to him. "

" Ok. thats's fine. I'll be around. I need to go get some school supplies anyway. What are you doing today, hazel? "

" I am going to get more stuff for the house. I mostly just brought pictures and important family items from that pack, so I wanted to get this house in order and decorate it. Plus, Beta Davis wants to introduce me to his and Gammas Austin's wife later to possibly work at the school with the younger pups. "

" Thats fantastic! " I say. " I know you're going to be great. " We finished breakfast and I said goodbye to them and went to the shopping center for supplies.

An hour later and I still had a few supplies I needed to get. I've met a lot of friendly people here. It's so much more calming and relaxing than our last pack. It just feels happy in this environment. I decided to take a break and go get a caramel macchiato and chocolate croissant. Definitely one of my guilty pleasures.

I was just sitting there scrolling through my phone outside of the cafe when a shadow came over to me, blocking the sun. Right there in front of me stood a great looking guy, dark hair, chiseled jaw, tan skin and muscles for days. He's standing there with a perfect smile and just staring at me.

" Hi, can I help you? " I say, wanting to break this awkward silence.

" Yea, sorry for staring. You're new here, right? I've never seen you before. "

" Yes, actually my family and I just got here yesterday. "

" I actually saw you yesterday. Running with my friend, I'm Ajak, by the way. "

" I'm Lariyah. You must have been the wolf running towards the forest. "

" Lariyah.? That's a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.. " He chuckled, and said," Yea, that was me. I'm glad to hear that you noticed Ansel and me. Do you mind if I sit? "

" Be my guest, " I say, " but what a classic line, I bet you say that to all the she wolves. I don't know if I noticed you, but Ansel is definitely a beautifully handsome wolf. " I say with amusement.

" Ouch, I should be sore from that comment, but Ansel seems to want to agree with you. "

" Smart and handsome. That's a wolf after my own heart. " I giggle

" Wow sassy! I'm not used to that, but I like it. "he states. " How old are you if you don't mind me asking? "

" I'm sure most she wolves are happy to swoon over you, but I'm 17. "

I can't help being sarcastic, but I feel that he's that type of friend that would protect you in a heartbeat but you can't help but joke with. Like he's the life of the party.

" 17 huh? Depending on which pack you come from, it means you haven't met your mate yet, right? "

" You're correct. I won't be 18 for a few more months. "

" Who knows, maybe I'll be your mate, he said while shrugging. Where are you from? "

" Hm maybe.. Also, that's something I'd rather not talk about. Too many bad memories. I'm just happy Alpha Andrew let us join. "

" I was thinking the same he said while beaming at me. Would you like to go for a walk? Get to know each other for a bit.? "

" OK. i just have to drop off some stuff first. "

" I'll go with you " He states. Shorty after we headed to my house and went for a walk.

" Ahhhh Jake come on in. "

" Alpha. You wanted to see me ? "

" Yes, I wanted to discuss a situation with you about Alpha Dalton. "

" Oh my goddess. He knows we're here.. " Jake pales .. At this point, I know he's worried and anxious by the look on his face, but he and his family are apart of my pack now and I take the safety of my pack members very seriously.

" Unfortunately, yes he does. " I then proceeded to tell him about the conversation that transpired yesterday.

I've always heard Jake was one of if not the best fighters that Davis has ever met. That's why when Davis came to me with the proposal of Jake and his family switching packs and how much he trusted Jake. I was more than happy and willing to oblige.

By the time I finished talking to him, I could tell he was distraught. Who wouldn't be? It's not his self that he is worried about. It's his child. Ave and I would gladly lay down our lives for our pups, no matter what age.

" What are we going to do? he asks in shock and anger. We only have a month before he tries to come after my daughter!! "

" I need you to talk to Lariyah. The king will have to be brought in on this contract if we're to do anything about Dalton, and trust me, he WILL figure it out.... What he's doing in his pack and the way he is threatening my pack for your daughter is grounds for death. I figured telling her would be better coming from you. But you have nothing to worry about, Jake. You and your family are part of my pack now. And I protect any and all pack members. So believe me when I say. You are safe here with your family. "

" Thank you alpha, You have no idea how much I appreciate this. Really... I will definitely discuss this with Lariyah and Hazel tonight and have an answer by tomorrow. One more thing. Lariyah wanted me to ask you, Is there somewhere that you know of that she'd be safe to take her wolf on a run without being caught and seen by anyone? "

" Actually, I think I may have an idea for that. I will be happy to discuss this with her tomorrow as well. "
