My mothers death

LARIYAH POV

After we got settled in, Beta Davis informed us where to go for all the shops. Hazel and I decided to go shopping for clothes and groceries while dad stayed behind wanting to fix up his make-shift training room in the basement.

We walked through the town and met a lot of nice people. I am really beginning to think that I am going to like being here.

We made our way through some clothing stores and luckily found a bunch of shorts and tops that were on sale along with shoes, even though I like to be barefoot most of the time. Hazel also found some clothes she liked on sale. It seems like dad is the most expensive person today and this time he can't complain about us shopping, which is a bonus.

We decided to drop off the clothes at home and change into something a little less hot. I've never felt the heat like this. Even when we were at our old pack, we'd always have snow on the ground. I've never seen so many beautiful flowers and grass that wasn't covered in that cold thick layer of iced water.

So far, today has been a great day. It just makes me miss my mom and Sierra, but I know they are better where they are instead of suffering in that cruel pack.

Alpha Andrew has been so nice, I feel like he's fair and has already gone out of his way to help me. I know that I'm eventually going to have to let his son know about me since he will be the future alpha soon, but I'd like to meet him first and let Ahri get a feel for him before anything more is disclosed.

It was already getting late and Hazel and I had just got home from grocery shopping. So far we are stocked up on much needed items and food. I walked outside to grab more bags and saw two wolves running into the forest. One of them was staring at me and I felt his excitement and swore he smiled at me. I wish there was something I could do to let Ahri run like that, but hopefully I can talk to Alpha Andrew and see if he has any suggestions. I helped Hazel put up groceries and prepare dinner. We decided to just stay in tonight to get a feel for our new house. Dad told us that he has to go meet with Alpha Andrew tomorrow at his request. I helped clean up after dinner, then went to shower and lay down. I hope I get use to this time change soon. I think just as I am drifting off to sleep.

I'm standing in the middle of the forest, covered in dirt and not knowing where to go next. I'm 5 again and scared out of my mind searching, but then I hear a noise behind the brush and my mother runs out picking me up as she goes. Our pack had just been slaughtered and my mother and I barely made it out with our lives. But they are still chasing us. Why are the rogues still chasing us?

My mother puts me down and tells me when I say, " I want you to run and don't look back sweetie, OK? "

" Why mommy, What is going on? "

" We don't have time for that baby. I just want you to run and not look back. When you get to the clearing, you will be stopped by some guards. Make sure you ask them for Beta Knox and show him this necklace and picture. Can you do that for me baby? ''

'' Yes mommy, but I'm scared. '' I cry.

'' Dont be scared, Beta Knox is your father, sweetie, and we aren't scared of our family, right? '' and I just nod my head. she takes off her necklace and puts it on me, then she shoves a picture in my pocket and picks me up, then runs again. We run and run until we're trapped by a huge river and the rogues coming up behind us. My mother tosses me to the other side of the river and screams at me to run as fast as I can and I do just that. I can hear howling and vicious growls behind me but I don't look back. My legs are so tired and I just want my mommy. I finally went out into the clearing my mom told me about and stopped to drop to my knees. A group of men surround me and, out of breath, I say, " my mommy told me to ask for Beta Knox. '' Right after, a huge wolf steps out, Then shifts back into human form and I recognize him in the picture. It's beta Knox, so I showed him the picture and said, '' my mommy said to give you this. '' He looked stunned for a minute and asked sweetheart, '' where is your mommy"?. I told him , ''we were being chased by rogues and she threw me across the river and told me to find you and I'm really tired now. '' Then I turned around and saw 2 rogues heading my way and, before anything happened, I woke up, jolted out of bed, sweating profusely and scared myself almost to death. I haven't had that dream in many years. I wonder what made me start now? '' Lariyah? '' Ahri says. '' Are you okay? ''

'' Yes, just a really bad dream about mom again, '' I answered.

'' I'm so sorry that happened to you. I wish I could've been there to help you. ''

'' I know but you are here now and I love you for being here for me through it all. ''

'' I will always be here for you from now on. " She tells me, " but I just thought I'd let you know. I have a feeling something is going to happen this week, but I'm not exactly sure what it is yet or if it's good or bad. "

" Well, hopefully it's good news." I say, "we've had enough to last a lifetime and we're not even 18 yet. But let's try to get some sleep. " " It's only 3 am and we drifted off back to sleep.
