As daylight broke, the storm was still blowing outside. The snow was not as intense as it had been the night before, but the wind still rocked the cabin with gusts from time to time. Kaitie sighed as she lay watching the snow swirl and ebb as it blew onto her covered porch. Kaitie tossed her blankets back and stretched as she stood. She smiled at Jake, who was sleeping contentedly across from her. Freckles had joined him during the night and was stretched out, lying on Jake’s chest as he napped.
