Chapter_64: How to Kill Monsters and Save Lives

1394 Words
Johnathan’s upper body glowed as the armour wrapped around him. One thing that neither of them knew was that once the armour had been activated, the new bearer not only gets immense power and strength but also gains an enormous amount of knowledge. This knowledge came from the previous experiences gained by the armour- the new user could access all of its previous memories and experiences. Memories of past wars against demons and monsters- their strengths and weaknesses- everything was stored inside the armour and when the new user activates it, these memories and experiences become accessible to him or her. This was a great advantage for it would save Johnathan a great amount of time on how to defeat the Chimera. Solomon was right about the exposed heart of the Chimera and that stabbing it could kill it but one might wonder why such a hideous monster would expose its one and only weakness. The reason behind this was that the exposed heart was merely a decoy and it actually had no heart at all. It was only to fool its opponent that the monster kept that exposed heart and its opponents would go crazy trying to stab it and kill the monster. Solomon watched with excitement as Johnathan prepared to go another round. He was quite sure that if Johnathan could somehow hit its heart then he could easily win. But as Johnathan stepped forward to attack, strange images began to float in front of his eyes- the armour was showing him exactly what the Chimera was and how to kill it. He saw an image of the Chimera in his head and the various supernatural components that it was made of- the horned goat on its back, the body of the lion and the Serpent as its tail- it was a hybrid monster created by the darkness itself. And then the armour showed him its real weakness- it was to disintegrate its body one animal at a time. The Serpent that was supposed to be its tail was the weakest part- its only power was its ability to strike quickly and kill the enemy instantly with its venom but besides that it could hardly do anything than intimidate its opponent. The goat on its back was the source of all the monster’s power, every time the monster got injured, the goat drew in dark energy and regenerated it but it barely had any offensive system. And then came the body of the lion itself, once the two other animals were finished off, the monster would become vulnerable to attacks and one fatal blow was enough to end it- as it won’t be able to regenerate anymore. He got all this information within three seconds and it was like he knew instinctively how to kill the monster. But the real problem was to get behind it and cut off the serpent’s head, without which the snake would die. Johnathan gripped his sword hard and bursts of energy came flowing out of his body as he focussed on his enemy. Solomon looked in awe at Johnathan- his arms were carved with intricate metal designs- one blue and one brown; his upper body was engulfed with the energy from the armour and his sword shined bright- he looked like a modern day knight- a real super hero. The Chimera growled and rushed at him and he ran towards it. As both of them got closer- the monster jumped at him with its mouth open wide but Johnathan dodged it and jumped towards the right wall, he placed his foot on the wall and jumped in the air, successfully dodging the serpent and getting behind the monster. The serpent hissed loudly but Johnathan quickly struck at its head severing it in half. The monster growled in pain and rage- the serpent was dead- now for the goat on its back. It immediately spewed hellish fire at Johnathan- he crossed his arms as the fire burnt through but even after repeated attacks the fire did no harm to Johnathan. He felt pretty confident now. It raised its sharp claws to attack but Johnathan took this opportunity to kick it in its guts. It fell down and didn’t move for a second. He rushed at it and plunged the sword at its back. The goat let out a terrible scream and black blood spewed out everywhere. The monster growled and screamed in terror knowing that its end was near. It slammed and crashed against the walls. Johnathan didn’t waste any time and rushed at it and thrust his sword into its head. The monster suddenly stopped moving and collapsed! He had successfully defeated a mythical monster- thanks to his dad’s armour. The carcass of the dead Chimera lay still on the floor. Solomon watched Johnathan with his mouth wide open. He couldn’t understand how he learnt to kill the beast so quickly and that too without stabbing its heart. “Johnny! What- how-” stuttered Solomon. “No time for explanations Brother, we got to stop Billy and Raven, God knows what did they steal-” replied Johnathan. “You’re right- let’s go-” Solomon agreed. As they started to leave, the body of the Chimera magically started to disappear along with its blood and it started to morph back into the two shape shifters- the Dillinger Brothers- the two appeared pale and dead and their bodies lied still on the floor. Johnathan drew a sigh of relief as it would have been a great pain to hide the body of the beast- this looked normal- two wanted burglars dead on the scene of the crime. While all of this was happening inside the museum, there was something else going on outside. Farid had spotted Billy and Raven as they were trying to escape. He blocked their path and tried to reason with them. The two asked him to let them pass but Farid wouldn’t hear another word. He demanded that they hand him the object that they stole and leave the place immediately. He also expressed anger and frustration that they have stooped so low and left the righteous path. “How desperate you are- looting and thieving like a common criminal- what have you become!”said Farid. “Spare me the lecture Brother- we both know that this world’s gonna end one way or the another- the Darkness is too powerful and nobody can stop it- not even your precious little Johnny-so I choose to enjoy the moments that I’ve left, instead of fighting and wasting time-” replied Billy. “My God! Is that the Eye of Horus?” exclaimed Farid. “Get out of the way Farid- this is my last warning-” replied Billy pointing his pistol at him. “So what? You’re gonna shoot me now? This is what you’ve become my friend-” said Farid. “Enough of this-” said Billy and fired at Farid. The bullet pierced Farid’s heart and he groaned and fell to the ground. Billy and Raven quickly escaped the scene. Johnathan and Solomon heard the gunshot and immediately rushed outside. They saw a car leaving in the distance and heard the groaning of Farid in the lawn. “Brother Farid!” cried out Solomon and ran towards him. They saw him lying on the ground in great pain with blood flowing out of his chest. He barely had another minute to live. Solomon tried to stop the blood from flowing by placing his jacket over his chest but that barely worked. Suddenly Johnathan’s arms started glowing. His armour was turning back on. He instinctively placed his hand on Farid’s chest and beams of energy flowed into his body. The Chi was starting to heal him- the bullet popped out of his chest and the wound started to heal itself. Within a few seconds, Farid gasped for air, he was saved! “How did you do that?” asked Solomon in surprise. “I dunno-”shrugged Johnathan. There was an air of awkwardness and  confusion between the two until Brother Farid woke up and breathed fresh air.
