31. The Birth

Lucius POV:

Patsy flashed to my office and she said that she still had no news from my father, how could it be?

She was useless, I should just kill her right now but then we wouldn’t be able to find Alice and that would mean that my chance to get to my mate would also be gone.

Patsy seemed distracted today and she looked like she aged some years showing that she wasn’t sleeping properly.

Fuck, I hated it when things doesn’t go my way.

Suddenly, Liam entered my office and he was about to attack Patsy until he fell down on the floor and he looked like he was in extreme pain.

“Alice” he said in between gritted teeth and Patsy flashed away, there was something wrong with Alice.

Liam got unconscious out of pain.

Shit, that was all I needed right now, both my mate’s parents dying before giving birth to her!

I placed Liam’s legs above the chair and started to talk to him.

“Come on, Liam, you’re not dying right now, I need you up, don’t you want to go help your mate?” I tried to speak to him over and over again hoping that he could hear me somehow, I was running out of options, I took a small thin fabric and I was about to put some potion I had here that I never used before, this potion makes you smell your mate’s scent, it was useful for those who have to live away from their mate, it also makes the bond withdrawal symptoms more bearable, the small glass was there for centuries.

I opened the bottle and suddenly some nostalgic scent entered my nostril, I put some on the thin fabric and I was about to put it on Liam’s face but he opened his eyes.

“What the f**k is that?” He asked me.

“A potion to try to wake you up” I said expressionless.

He was still in pain and could barely speak.

“Where’s Patsy?” he questioned me and I rolled my eyes at him.

“You scared her away, thank you for that. Why did you mess it up, Liam? I thought you wanted to save your mate” I told him dryly.

He tried to stand up ignoring me.

“I have to find someway to reach her, I won’t stay here listening to your bullshit anymore” he said and he was about to make his way out the office but he fell down out of pain again.

I was nothing but a cold and rational being ever since I can remember but I had to confess that this situation was getting out of control and I was getting concerned, almost desperate like I’ve never been.

“Liam” I said using my high speed to be by his side and helped him to stand up.

“Why are you helping me now?” he could barely say his words.

“Because we made a oath, how come you forget?” I lied.

He straightened and looked like he was feeling better, all of a sudden, a flash and we couldn’t believe what our eyes were seeing in front of us.

Alice POV:

I was weak, crying out in pain, I felt like I was about to give birth but Lucius’ father was there wanting to kill me, torture me, rape me and I wouldn’t let this happen.

I tried to flash but I couldn’t, my power wasn’t enough.

I wondered, is that the way I was going to die?

What about my pups?

Demetrius was unconscious for a while when I threw him away, he apparently hit his head against something, I tried to drag myself out of the door, I couldn’t stand up, my legs couldn’t obey me, I was in extreme pain and I was losing a lot of blood constantly from my wrist, when I was close I felt him grabbing my hair and dragging me back to the middle of the room, I sobbed in pain and frustration.

“I can’t kill you right now but I can make you wish you were dead” he said between gritted teeth.

I was exhausted.

“I’m sorry my pups, I’m sorry Hope, I’m sorry Liam, I don’t think I’m going to make it today” I thought wishing that Hope could hear me.

“We…will” I could barely listen to Hope’s voice, she was as hurt and weak as I was ever since we were one.

Suddenly, I heard the door slammed open, I tried to see who was the mysterious person…

“Demetrius, what do you think you’re doing to my daughter?” I heard a knowing voice, it was Patsy.

“She didn’t obey me so she has to pay, I’m not going to kill her, just hurt her a little bit, come on, don’t pretend you care right now” he said dryly.

“I don’t, you can do whatever you want but look at her, the vitamins we put on her food worked and we could accelerate her pregnancy, it looks like she’s in labor, we have to get the kids…” she was saying but I got unconscious.

When I woke up, I was in a bright room and I was…healed?

I tried to feel my bump but I couldn’t, what’s happening?

I started to sob like a little kid until I felt tingles and electric jolts in my hands and I glanced at my side and saw…Liam?

Was I dreaming?

Liam POV:

I’ve never felt so much pain before, Lucius helped me to stand up and it was very weird, he said it was because of the Oath but there was nothing in the Oath that said he had to help me at all.

Maybe he was changing for the better?

I wondered, suddenly, we saw a flash and Patsy was crying but she also had a enraged face, she was with Alice and with a very scared Demetrius, he was wearing a bracelet that looked like the one the wolve guards put on Alice the first time, Alec whimpered in pain inside my head.

Our eyes opened wide.

“Alice” I said as I got closer to her but oddly Patsy wasn’t running away from me.

“Demetrius” Lucius said with a smirk on his face, Demetrius flashed away “Finally I’ll have what I always wanted” he continued making me realize that Lucius was the one who flashed him away.

Alice was hurt and unconscious, she was covered in blood, I panicked.

“There’s no time to explain, she’s in labor, you have to take her into a safe place where somebody can help her” Patsy said and I held Alice in my arms and mind-linked the dragon’s healers, I flashed to the mansion.

Prospero and Kat was already there.

“Goddess, what happened to Alice?” Kat asked and I was as confused as she was.

“I don’t know, her mother said she was in labor and asked for help, where’s the healers?” I asked them.

“They’re coming, it might take a few minutes” Prospero said.

“I don’t have a few minutes” I replied.

“Atlantes, Alice’s in labor, are your healers there?” I mind-linked him.

“What? Yes, teleport to the castle, I’ll order them to be prepared” he said.

“When the healers come, give them some teleportation runes and tell them to go to Atlantes’ castle. Kathlyn, you better go to the Black Moon Pack and bring Randall and Dr Susan, they might need some help and Dr Susan is also a wolf, they might need her experience” I ordered them and teleported to Atlantes’ castle.

I was in his office with Alice on my arms, he was waiting for me.

He placed his hand on Alice’s forehead and frowned, what was he doing? But I was too worried to talk about it right now.

He flashed us to the Healer’s Room and they were preparing everything.

“Please, Your Highness, lay her on this bed” a healer said directing her hand to the bed “we’ll make Queen Alice comfortable and you may be with her during all the process” she said and I nodded in a thankful way.

Philip and King Werloth also flashed there, they saw me and they came close.

“Liam, Atlantes called us. I will stay here with the healers, Alice will heal faster, I’ll make sure of it” Philip said placing his hand on my shoulder in reassurance.

“Thank you, Philip” I said without taking my eyes off my mate.

“I’ll be around if you also need me, stay calm, you look terrible, Liam” Werloth said and just then I noticed the tears falling down my face.

How could I be ok?

It was my fault Alice got caught, I’m a bad mate after all, doesn’t matter how hard I try, something always end up going wrong.

Atlantes was talking to the healers and approached me after it.

“Liam, they will examine her and the babies now” he said and I nodded.

A healer got into Alice’s side and placed her hand on her bump and her eyes opened wide.

“We have to make a caesarean right now or we’ll lose them, I don’t know how but the babies are ready to be born” she said and Philip got closer and placed his hand on her bump, a glowing light formed on his hand and entered Alice’s body.

“I just gave her an general anesthesia, it will flow into her spine and spread all over her body, she won’t feel a thing and it will make Alice feel no pain at all” he reassured us and I couldn’t be more thankful.

Suddenly, Kathlyn, Randall and Dr Susan teleported and Susan in no time checked on Alice and she glanced at Randall.

“Shadow can reach Hope” Randall said like he knew what Susan was asking him.

She got relief and continue to checking out on my mate.

“What the hell happened to her?” Randall asked concerned.

“I don’t know yet, Patsy was the one who helped Alice, I don’t know why or how, Alice needed help and that was my main priority” I told him and he just nodded.

My healers also came and they started to prepare everything while Atlantes’ healers placed the surgery tools beside Alice, Werloth looked very uneased.

“Are you ok, Werloth?” Atlantes asked him.

“Yes, I don’t know why but I’m feeling very uneased right now” he said and he glanced at me “Liam, please, if you don’t mind, I want to stay here with you, something deep inside me are telling me to do so” Werloth said.

“He should stay, trust me” Alec told me and I nodded.

“Of course, Werloth” I said and he relaxed.

Everybody is acting odd today, what the hell is happening right now?

“We’re ready, please, gentleman, you might leave” The Healers said and everybody left but the Healers, dragons healers, Susan, Philip, Werloth and me.

They began their procedures, Philip was placing his fingers on Alice’s temples all the time, his fingers was glowing.

“Wait, be very careful, they might be dragons and dragon’s babies has a very toxic and dangerous amniotic liquid, we have to put on a small suction pipe carefully to diminish the liquid and then try to carefully burst the gestational sac, we have to do it quickly so the dragons and mom can be ok” a dragon healer said.

Another healer grabbed the suction pipe as the other had a scalpel placed on hands, Susan had a towel to grab my baby and another healer another towel, everything was ready to be done.

“Ok, is everybody ready to do it?”

“Yes” they all said in unison.

“Ok, on 3…1”

“2”

“3” she said and the healer pierce the suction pipe inside and I was tense looking only on Alice’s face.

Suddenly, I heard a small cry making me glance at the small baby at the same time and I couldn’t help my tears of joy.

“Look, dragon daddy, this one is a boy” Susan said smiling and crying.

She handed my son to me, I grabbed him and stared at him, he was so beautiful and had the same eyes color as I do, bright blue right eyes and green forest left eyes.

He cried for a few seconds more and stopped.

I stared at his small and cute face for a while until a healer snapped me out of my thoughts.

“This one is a little girl” I glanced at my other baby girl but she seemed lifeless, I stood up in a jolt.

“What’s happening?” I asked them.

They were touching and trying to make her cry, Philip left Alice’s and held her small body but nothing happened.

“Give her to me” Werloth said in a desperate way.

The healer handed my baby girl over to Werloth and he grabbed her in a very protective way, he sat down, grabbed another towel and cleaned her little face very carefully and he seemed to start to lull her, he pressed a kiss on her small forehead and suddenly I could hear her squeaking, she didn’t cry, he handed my small girl over back to the healer, he looked hesitant to do it and I frowned.

“Thank you, Werloth” I said and he looked lost.

“Don’t worry, Liam, she’s a very beautiful baby, I’ve never seen such a beautiful baby ever in my long life before” he said staring at my small girl and he was right, she was really beautiful with her bright blue eyes, suddenly, she started to cry.

“All right, Liam, go meet your baby girl, give me this small fella, I’ll make him some baby milk until Alice wakes up” Susan said holding my baby boy, Alice and I didn’t chose any name, I would wait for her to wake up do decide it together.

I held my baby girl and she stopped crying for a while, she was indeed the most beautiful baby girl that was ever born but then she started to cry again making me chuckle.

Her little gaze found Werloth and she stopped crying.

“I think she liked you” I told him smiling and looked at him.

He was serious and had a confused face.

“Are you ok?” I asked him and he looked back at me.

“Yes, sure” he said smiling.

Another healer came to take my baby girl to feed her.

I got closer to Alice and held her hand.

“She will be fine, everything is ok with her and she’ll wake up in no time, Liam, by the way, I healed her completely after she gave birth, if you know what I mean” Philip said winking at me in a mischievously way, he had a genuine smile on his face.

He and Werloth left to meet Atlantes.

I was finally left alone with my mate, she looked healed indeed, I had to thank Philip a million time but I don’t think I would mate her now, there was so much we have to talk about, I had to know about her, what she was feeling, what she’s been through, everything…

I trust Philip but I don’t think I’d survive if she gets hurt again, not even a little bit.

I was caressing her hand with my thumb and I stood up to drink some water to swallow everything we’ve been through.

When I was approaching, her eyes opened, she looked confused and she started to cry, I held her hand again in reassurance, she looked at me confused.
