Hundreds of people were now running through the building’s exits, most onto St Margaret’s Street, where more TV cameras recorded the scenes accompanied by a running commentary from the reporters. Afterwards, many would liken it to the commentary during the World Trade Centre attacks; sheer disbelief that it was or even could be happening.
Whatever the commentator’s perspective it was a disaster, happening right in front of them, and one if the terrorists had been entirely successful, would have cost hundreds if not thousands of lives.
Police vehicles were arriving in their droves, followed by ambulances and soon after, both HART and HPA response units. Still the cameras recorded.
