DAPHNE
I let out a groan as the brightness from the sun hits my room. f**k, I still want to sleep but at the same time I’m mad hungry.
I yawn as I stretch, then sit up on the bed, looking around the almost empty room with my things scattered around in bags of different sizes.
I hate moving. I really hate it, and I don’t even think I have enough strength to turn this massive room into mine yet.
Looking at the wall clock, it is just seven in the morning. Obviously it is the hunger that wakes me up. I step down from the bed and put on my slippers before walking out of the room, still in my pajamas.
That shitface shouldn’t be home by now. He should be on his way to the office at least, because I definitely don’t want him to be the first person I set my eyes on.
But then I remember that today is actually Sunday, meaning he is not going anywhere.
Bad luck.
I climb down the stairs gently. I don’t think he is in his room because it was all quiet when I passed by.
I walk straight into the kitchen and unfortunately for me, I see him right there and his gaze also falls on me.
He's shirtless and holding a coffee mug in his hand.
I scoff and ignore him totally before walking to the fridge. I open it but nothing is there except bottled water.
What the f**k??
I open the cupboards too for anything, maybe even cereals. Still nothing. Everything is damn empty as if no human lives here.
My anger rises immediately and I turn to Kane, who is busy with his phone, totally ignoring my presence.
“Is this supposed to be a joke??” I ask. “You have nothing like food in this house??”
“Obviously, if you’re not blind, kitten,” he replies dryly, and I cross my arms before walking over to him and standing in front of him.
“So you don’t eat at all? Or is this some sort of childish s**t to bully me again?”
He stares at me for a few seconds before bursting into laughter.
“You must really think I give a f**k about you that much or that I have time for you.”
“There’s no food in here because I don’t eat in the house. You should be able to figure that out unless you’re dumb. If you’re hungry, you know the way to the grocery store,” he smirks and drops the mug in the sink.
“Hey, clean that up….”
“This is my house, Daphne. You’re the one staying here for free. If you can’t stand it, you know how to f**k off,” he winks and walks out.
I clench my fists angrily by my sides. Obviously Kane has gotten even worse than when we were in school.
Fuck, I’m in hell. It is barely one day and I already feel like killing him.
But first, food.
I need to eat. I’m starving so badly it hurts.
I walk out of the kitchen and go upstairs. I will go out, eat at a restaurant, then head over to the grocery store.
And he should better not even think that I will be cooking for his ass.
He definitely will not expect it because he will be so disappointed.

“Are you serious? I don’t see Kane to be that kind of person,” Mia says on the phone as I pace around my room.
It is almost 4 in the evening and thank God for life, Kane decided to leave the house and finally I can breathe properly.
“I already told you, Mia. You just don’t want to believe because you think he’s hot,” I roll my eyes and sit down on the bed.
“Of course he’s hot,” she cracks.
“He’s a bully, Mia. And I’m very sure living in this house with him will be hell. I don’t trust him. He did a lot of silly pranks back in high school, always taunting me, calling me names and making my life a living f*****g hell,” I sigh, running my fingers through my hair.
“So you think teenager Kane and twenty-four-year-old Kane are still going to be the same?? Like playing pranks??” Mia asks.
“Don’t underestimate him,” I scoff.
“Anyways, it’s okay getting the groceries yourself. I think he has a point. He obviously never eats at home so getting them will be a waste. Just avoid him, girl. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow. Should I come over and pick you up?” she asks.
I know she is only saying that because she is dying to meet Kane, but I am not sure she will even see him even if she comes.
“Yeah, I will be waiting.”
“Love you, baby.”
I sigh and hang up the call before falling back on the bed. I have a number of assignments I need to work on before the deadline, which is close. My time was taken because of the stupid wedding preparation.
But right now I am so tired. I should take a short nap first. When I wake up eventually, I will be able to work on them.

The next time I open my eyes, the room is totally dark.
“f**k,” I groan tiredly as I switch the light on and yawn while putting on my slippers.
I am so thirsty that I feel my throat is so dry it is going to crack. I leave the room, still stretching and wondering if Kane is home yet.
Not like I care if he is. Just to be careful, because I don’t think I want to run into him at this time and allow him to ruin my night again.
It is past seven, I think. I can’t cook anything right now but I got some cookies while I was shopping for groceries earlier.
I will just eat that with a chilled bottle of milkshake. Thank God I decided to buy everything earlier. Who knew I would be too tired to even walk, talk more of cooking??
Getting to the kitchen, I am welcomed by a crazy kind of horror which makes my blood not only boil, but I feel it oozing and I see red. Bloody red.
There is a stranger in the kitchen, a lady to be precise, wearing a shirt that looks like a man’s.
But the most important thing is she is holding the cookies I got in her hand and my milkshake is on the table. She has already drunk from it.
“What the f**k is going on here??” I ask, and she turns around to face me.
She stares at me from head to toe and smiles.
“Oh. I guess you’re the bride. Hi, I’m Tessa,” she smiles again. I want to slap it off her face.
“I don’t care who you are, but weren’t you taught not to touch what’s not yours?” I ask, glaring.
“Oh… the cookies? I’m not sure. I just saw them and well, the house belongs to Kane so I don’t see a reason why I can’t have them,” she says bluntly. It is obvious she is picking a fight.
I walk over to her and snatch the cookie carton from her hand. My head almost freezes. She has already eaten three out of five.
“What the f**k?!” I glare.
“What’s going on?” Kane enters and she immediately walks to him, hugging him in the process.
“I don’t know why she’s mad. I just ate some cookies I found in the fridge….”
“Excuse me?? Everything inside here is f*****g mine. I don’t care what the f**k you are doing but how dare you touch these??!!!” I yell, now angrier than I should even be.
I look at Kane, who is also staring back at me.
“Say something. Shouldn’t you buy food for your slut and stop her from stealing other people’s food??” I snarl.
“Slut? Hey. Say that again,” Tessa moves closer but Kane grabs her hand and takes her out of the kitchen.
“Wow,” I chuckle dryly, running my fingers through my hair.
It is barely 48 hours and he is already f*****g around??
God, I am so hungry and angry I can’t even think. I want to kill Kane. I swear I hate him even more now. I hate him so much.
He comes back in with a blank expression as if nothing happened.
“You still haven’t said anything….”
“Your cookies and milkshake will be here soon. You don’t have to be dramatic about it, you know?” he says, picks up the remaining cookies and milkshake, and walks out of the kitchen.
My mouth remains open but no words come out.
This is going to be hell.
No doubt.
