Hello Ex, We Meet Again

Lexy's body turned cold after she read the message sent to her on Messenger. She read it again and again, hoping that she just misunderstood what's been written there, only to get hurt each time because it says and means the same thing every time. She was busy finishing up the design for her client. She is just starting up as an architect in a small firm in Manila and her client is rushing her to finish the design of his home so he can start with the constraction before he marries his fiancée. She was distracted with the sound of her Messenger notification. She picked up her cellphone to read the message thinking that it was from her client again. He sends multiple messages everyday that it's starting to get into her nerves. She frowned when she saw a message request from a certain Valerie King, to whom she is not familiar with. "I see you are Karl's girlfriend. Well, I am pregnant with his child," she said. The hand that was holding her phone trembled that it almost slipped out. She went over it again but it just says the same thing. She felt a sharp, stabbing pain in her heart. It was so painful that she didn't even notice the tears that were starting to fall until she fell to her knees and cried like a little child. This can't be happening! Imposible! Karl is not the type of man who plays around with girls. He is a very decent man. Most importantly, he loves her so much that he is not going to hurt her like this. He knows her family's history. He knows the trauma and hurt she went through as a daughter because of her womanizer of a father. Karl will never give her the same kind of betrayal she had as a child. He promised her that she will never go through it as a partner. Lexy and her younger brother, David, grew up in a dysfunctional family. Their father is a womanizer. Their parents are always fighting because of this. If it was only up to them, they would prefer if they just separate than to see them hurting each other. But their mother does not want to let go because she does not want to lose over her husband's mistresses. Karl promised her that this will never happen to the family they are going to build. Karl waited for her for seven years. They were classmates in high school. She rejected him four times. They were on their first year when Karl first pursued her but it was not her priority to fall in love at that time. They were still so young. Each time she rejected him, he would find someone else and be in a relationship. And after he broke up with his girlfriend, he would come back to her and court her again. That went on for a span of seven years, and after rejecting him four times, she finally fell in love with him and damn so hard. They were both graduating in college when they finally got together. They went to different universities but it did not stopped them from seeing each other everyday. She took up Architecture and Karl studied Engineering. Karl has always put so much effort in their relationship. She would visit her to their house everyday just so they could spend some time together. They both love music, and singing while playing the guitar was their form of bonding. They have have been together for over three years but they never had a big fight. They have small disagreements now and then but those are not some things they are not able to talk about, and they always ended up sweeter and more loving to each other after they made up. They have never fought about any third party because Karl has never given her a reason to doubt his fidelity, and it has been the same way for her to Karl. Even when after they graduated, passed the board exams and started working, Karl was consistent with the way he treated her. They have been together for more than three years and it was only these last five months that they have seldom seen each other because they both got busy with work. Never in her wildest dream did she expect to receive such a bad news. "No, this can't be!" She thought. Maybe this unknown woman is just pulling a prank on her or just making up stories to ruin their relationship. With that thought in mind, she wiped her tears and held her phone. She started typing her reply to the woman. "You must be mistaken. Karl and I have been together for a long time and we never had a problem with infidelity." Lexy replied. "Why don't you ask him yourself then if you don't believe me?" Valerie confidently challenged her. "If what you say is true, then when did it happen?" She will never let this woman ruin her and Karl without squeezing all the details out of her. "Go ask Karl. I doubt he will give you all the juicy details on how we made this baby come to life", this woman is so shameless!
