Orion’s POV
‘Alpha Orion the coast is clear, the troops can come in.’ One of the intel in Lucien's household alerted me.
‘Move in threes, with caution and precision. Take down anyone you see but leave Lucien and his heir for me.’ I mind-linked Kael, taking the garden route to Lucien's home.
The turmoil brooding hadn’t surfaced as peace filled the entire space. I opened the door quietly walking into the mansion. The two guards stationed turned alarmed on seeing me. ‘Who are you?’
I walked closer and they unsheathed their swords. I took hold of the gun filled with weakening potion and fired it at their neck.
They felt the sting and touched their neck on impulse before they could react they fell like vegetables on the floor. I walked past them as I rounded the corner so many bodies were lying on the floor lifeless from either death or the potion.
It didn’t feel like an ambush until I heard a loud glass-shattering scream. It was the most annoying noise that should cost the owner their tongue.
‘Silence the fellow now!’ I mind-linked the guards. Immediately the noise stopped bringing back the well-deserved silence.
But now everyone in the mansion was alarmed. There was a lot of running and screaming that was rapidly cut off.
‘The Alpha and his heir are locked in the dining room.’ A guard mindlinked me.
Knowing the layout of the mansion like the back of my palm I headed to the dining room.

Jane’s POV
Breakfast wasn’t as delicious as it would have been if I hadn’t had a lot on my mind.
The freshly plucked grapes, nuts of every size and type, bananas, and yoghurt, which should have made the perfect breakfast, did nothing to calm my racing thoughts.
The silence stretched taut until Jake finally broke it. Father.” He said, drawing both my gaze and my father’s.
The stoic man who was seated at the end of the table looked up from his plate lined with lamb, lettuce, broccoli, and wheat rice.
As Jake would always tease my body refuses to grow cause I don’t know good food. I shouldn’t be analyzing Father’s plate as there is a far more serious matter at hand.
“I heard Alpha Gary was here yesterday to visit Jane.” He said casually as he dissected the lamb meat on his plate.
Father chuckled deeply. “Oh, yes he was. And he’s such a gentle man. Isn’t he Jane?”
Jake's eyes met mine, and I swallowed subconsciously.
“No father.” At this point I could hear my heart beating in my ear, my statement made him pause, and as his eyes landed on me I felt all the blood drain from my face.
“He makes a fine groom for you Jane. He’s going to give you the best of everything. His father is on his weak bed and Gary is to inherit the whole estate. You know I wouldn’t do anything that isn’t in your best interest?”
Jake had told me to go to my father as a young lady whose future is on the line not his little princess, whom he knows me as. So I continued adamantly. “Father he…”
He placed his cutlery on his plate. “That’s enough Jane. All you need to know is he is a good choice for you.”
“I can’t marry him, you promised I would get married to my mate.”
“You haven’t even started feeling your wolf, and you want to get married to your mate. How is that possible?”
“Father, that was what you promised…”
He banged his hand on the table, making the cutlery clatter. “Enough.”
The sheer force startled me, and I dropped my spoon, whereas Jake didn’t even flinch. He has witnessed his father’s wrath so many times. “You will do as I say without further questioning.”
I glanced between Jake and Father. “You can’t possibly force your opinion on me.”
“I can, I’m your father, I am your alpha. The exposure, this outfit, the luxury, I gave it all to you. I owe you, Jane.” He fumed. “This should be the first and last time you question my authority.”
“Father you should at least listen to what she has to say, she might have her reason.”
“I don’t want to hear another word from either of you. This alliance is what this pack needs. If you are truly a Deepcrow, you will know that your responsibility to this pack comes first.”
It felt like I was struck by lightning I felt light and my thoughts were disorganized. I didn’t know where the bravery came from but I stood up abruptly my chair scraping the floor and was about to storm out when I heard an ear-biting scream.
Jake stood up, marching toward me and grabbing my arm, safely tucked behind him. “Wait!” The stern order followed. He went to the door and turned the knob, but it was locked.”
His eyes went blank, showing he was giving the guard orders through his mindlink. “Move back, Jane.”
Instinctively, I moved. Father had already stood up, issuing orders over the phone, as it seemed no one was responding through the mindlink.
Jake moved back, hitting the door multiple times with his shoulder in an attempt to break it free, but it was to no avail.
‘f**k!” He roared raking his hand through his head, and so many screams continued. “We are under attack.” He admitted defeatedly as if it wasn’t obvious.
“Stay under the table Jane, no matter what don’t step out!” Jake ordered.
I hesitated and it earned me a shove. “Now!” His eyes glowed as his Alpha aura slipped.
I scrambled to the table disorientedly. I hope Gwen is okay.
This is the first time something like this has happened. The pack is known for its strong guards. Who dares behave so stupidly as to attack us?
I folded my legs and began counting, trying to focus my mind on one thing. I was at fifty-six when the door burst open.
“You have the guts to walk into my home and cause disarray?” Father growled. The aura in the room was so thick.
I’ve always hated being referred to as weak but my hiding while father and Jake take care of things proves I’m truly weak.
“I am only returning the favour you gave to Kate. It’s evident you remember her, and her son, whom you dearly thought how to lick pop.”
“They only got what they deserve…” Father's words flattered. “Are you the son, Orion?”
“I’m happy it’s inscribed in your memory.”
Defeatedly he uttered. “I will pay for my sin, leave my children away from it.”
Orion replied amused. “You didn’t leave me out of it did you? Castrate him!”
I gasped, slapping my palm on my mouth.
