Orion’s Pov
“What do you mean by you lost her Kael?”
He stood opposite my desk, his head lowered. “They disappeared into the woods. I searched but saw no one. But in the process, I stumbled upon another passage that leads to Alpha Johnson’s mansion. It leads directly to the garden.”
I clasped my hand, placing it on the desk. “For someone who is feared and hyped to be so calculative, he is really careless.”
“I agree, Alpha Orion. Should I inform the guards that we are moving tomorrow?”
“Yes, and station guards around the market where we saw the lady yesterday I have a feeling she might revisit.”
“Okay, Alpha Orion.”
I went over the layout of our plans and the entry and exit points, but my mind kept drifting back to the lady at the market. My antsy wolf kept nudging me. ‘Go back to the market. Follow the description Kael told you about; you might stumble across her.’
‘The guards are already searching for her Damien.’ I informed my wolf.
Damien towered making it very hard to concentrate. Finally giving up, I stood and took a stroll. I didn’t plan to head to the market. I only wanted to get some air, but I found myself back there, in that same spot where I met her.

Jane’s POV
“You have to speak to Father on my behalf. He is a rake, I can’t possibly spend the rest of my life with him.” I reasoned with Jake.
He went on flipping through his files giving me little to no attention as I paced his study.
“Jake!” My tone caught his attention. He raked his hand through his hair with a sigh.
“What would you have me do?”
I stopped moving and shrugged as it couldn’t get any more obvious. “Speak to Father Jake.”
“And what would you want me to say. Jane said the man you assigned for her is a rake and she can’t dream of spending the rest of her life with him.”
I opened my mouth to speak, but he shunned me with his palm. “Or, he sexualized her so she can’t get married to him?”
I moved closer to where he was seated at his desk. “You don’t understand Jake. You are taking this with levity.”
He stared at me for a minute, as I stood a few inches away from him. The silence stretched making me uneasy but I knew better than to fill it with unreasonable words. “Make me understand.” Finally, he spoke.
“We only met yesterday, he asked about s*x, about marriage, trailed his hand all over my skin.” I gagged and shivered dramatically. “It was disgusting.”
“He soiled you?” His brow creases, as his voice grew dark.
I extended my palm forward. “No, no.” Shaking my head. “That’s not what I mean. He didn’t touch anywhere but my arm.”
“And you feel he was too intimate and should be considered harassment?”
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose with a groan. “You are not getting me, Jake.”
My voice went sober as I added dreamily. “Do you want your sister to end up with someone that would only sexualize her, or someone that would love her, have deep conversations with her, worship the ground she walks on?”
I placed my hand on my chest, pouting. “You want that for me right? I’ve seen people in love, I’ve read about it but whatever happened yesterday wasn’t it.”
“Those books you stuff your face in are fantasy. This is real life. You can’t expect to experience happily ever after. You are the Omega daughter of Alpha Lucien…”
My heart shattered as he added my role. I cut him off my voice barely a whisper. “I shouldn’t complain and I should only go with it because I’m an omega, I should overlook the fact that all he saw me as was the mother of his pups, or all father could say was I would make a good mother, I should go with the flow because at the end of the day I am only a breeder?”
He stood up his features softening. “You out of everyone should know I didn’t mean it that way.”
“I understand Alpha Jake.” I exhaled standing regal as I fought the tears in my eyes from falling. “I know my responsibility, and I wouldn’t deviate from it.”
“Jane…”
I didn’t give him a listening ear as I walked out of his study, I stormed to my room. If he doesn’t want to speak to Father on my behalf, I will do so myself.
I busied myself with embroidery, not wanting to relive my conversation with Jake. It’s only better if I discuss the matter with my father over breakfast since he has the final say.
I heard a light knock on my door. I rolled my eyes inserting my needle through the hoop. The door creaked open and Jake peeped in.
Our eyes met, but I quickly tore my gaze away, forcing all my attention onto my embroidery hoop.
“My gorgeous baby sister.” He uttered with a soft smile that revealed his white teeth, and boyish side.
I rolled my eyes once more hissing.
“I will bring it up for discussion at the breakfast table. Then you can plead your case with Father.”
“I don’t need your help anymore Jake, I will manage on my own.”
“I can’t stand still and watch you manage.”
“Because I am weak and wolfless?”
“No, never. I find it hard to believe you’ve had these thoughts. But it’s more alarming that you believe I will ever insinuate such words to you.”
I placed the hoop on the table, watching him as he continued. “You are strong, brave, intelligent, and pretty. You are the only lady in the ton that I know has a mind of her own. I wouldn’t hesitate to wed you if you weren’t my sister. Life with you is dandelions and sweet melodies.”
I shook my head stifling my smile. “You indulge me.”
“You are my baby sister. Though I believe Alpha Gary will take good care of you, if he isn’t your speck we can come to an understanding with Father. There are lots of fish in the sea.”
I smiled broadly this time warmth spreading around my chest. My happiness was overwhelming I had to share. I stood up, ran to my brother, and jumped into his embrace. He laughed as he caught me. “I know. I am the best, and I love you too.”
