WATCHED

It didn’t take long for the entire pack to notice. I was being watched. Everywhere I went, two guards followed closely behind me. Their presence was suffocating, drawing even more attention than before. “I don’t need this,” I muttered under my breath as I walked through the courtyard. “Alpha’s orders,” one of them replied calmly. Of course it was. Kael. I clenched my jaw, trying to ignore the whispers around me. “Now she has guards?” “What is she now, some kind of Luna?” The words made my chest tighten, but I kept walking. I wouldn’t let them see me break. As I turned the corner, I nearly collided with someone. Kael. He stood there, unmoving, his eyes immediately locking onto mine. “Enjoying the attention?” he asked. I crossed my arms. “If this is your idea of protection, you can take it back.” His gaze darkened slightly. “It’s not optional.” “I didn’t ask for it,” I snapped. “And I didn’t ask for you to carry my child,” he replied. The words hit harder than expected. Silence fell between us. Then he stepped closer. “But here we are,” he added quietly. And for some reason… I couldn’t look away.
