*Crystal POV*
I found myself standing in the same snowy field that has been plaguing my dreams, I have absolutely no idea where I am let along what time I am in. I know I've heard story's of the great battle that took place many eons ago when the mother goddess walked the earth, Selene. She was a beautiful maiden with long silver hair, she was the first werewolf from what we are taught in schools.
"Selene!" a woman's voice screamed as they ran towards me.
I freeze, panic takes over as I find my body moving on its own. Running through the snow, I come face to face with the mysterious woman. Her facial features distorted from blood and from.
"You're alive! Thank the heavens. I was worried when we got separated." Selene responds.
Red eyes and hissing are heard in the tree line as yelps, growls, and whimpers fill the air. The great battle between the vampires, lycans, and werewolves.
"You need to ru-" the mysterious woman's voice was cut off as a hand pierced through her chest. Looking down at her still beating heart before crumbling to the ground.
A powerful scream rips through my body as a flash of blinding white erupts from me, well I guess technically Selene. Her eyes turn bright red as her wolf surges forward, forcing the maiden to shift. Her wolf stood taller than present-day alphas with her whiter than the snow, almost making her look see through.
She lets out a powerful howl before running towards the vampires, slaughtering as many as she can.
The battle shortens in time as it seems that Selenes wolf is working with pure rage. Rage that her children, friends, and family have to fight for the territory that has always been theirs.
I watch in amazement before the blinding light flashes again, but this time I awaken in the Pan Hospital.
"Wh...what happened?" I struggled to speak, trying to wrap my head around the events I witnessed firsthand.
How did I end up being in the great war?
"We are special, " Bree whispered.
"What do you mean?" I questioned silently.
"All will be explained when we shift for the first time," she murmured gently.
I was jolted out of my internal conversation when Lizzy launched herself into my bed, crushing me in a best hug.
"You've been unconscious for three days!" She practically wailed.
" Three days?" I asked, my eyes widening with each passing second.
How! It only seemed like a short amount of time!
"What happened?" My mother asked with tears of relief threatening to fall from her eyes.
"I'm glad to see you are aware hunny," father said gently as get stepped forward to stroke my hair.
I took a deep breath.
"Should I tell them?" I'm asking Bree. Wagging her tail, she nodded, so I looked at everyone and began explaining everything from the dreams to what I could only assume was going back into the past. Everyone looks at me, unsure of how to respond to what just unfolded.
"Why didn't you tell me about your dreams sooner?" Lizzy said with a hint of hurt in her eyes.
I looked down at my hands, "I didn't think much of it to be honest," I whispered. "I didn't realize what was even happening. Bree says we are special somehow too."
"Well, Dr Loving says she can release you if you are feeling up for it. Minus passing out, you are entirely healthy. Maybe we can have you two girls shift after dinner?" Mom states with a smile on her lips.
Lizzy and I look at each other and smile. "That sounds like a good idea to us."
After being released from the hospital, the rest of the day went by in a blur. The next thing we knew, it was time to shift.
Lizzy was already in the backyard of the pack house, wearing her peach coloured robe so she doesn't shred her clothing during her shift. I stepped out of the house and was greeted by our Pack Elder Johnson. Mom and Dad were already waiting with Elder Johnson, chatting to themselves, but they stopped when I approached them.
"Are you ready, my sweet girls?" Elder Johnson asks with a smile on his wrinkly face. Elder Johnson was maybe in his 90s, but was still fit and looked like he was in his 50s. Pure wolves age a lot slower than the wolves that have other species in them, unless of course they have had a vampire somewhere in the lineage.
"Yes!" Lizzy all but yelled as she excitedly jumped up and down next to me. Chuckling slightly I also nodded my head.
"Your first shift is going to be extremely painful, but remember you cannot fight it. You have to let your wolves entirely take over. Let go and try to relax as much as you can," The Elder said. He looked up towards the sky, and the moon was brighter than ever on this night. She was absolutely amazing. Our pack tries to have our first shifts on the nights of the full moon in order for our wolves to be at their peak.
Taking a deep breath, Lizzy and I dropped our robes and stood, gazing up at the moon for comfort for what's about to come.
Immediately, I left my knees break with a sickening crack that echoed through the yard. I tried my best to keep the blood curdling scream from escaping my throat, but it didn't work.
"Let go!" Bree all but demanded in my head. "If you don't, this will be more painful than it needs to!"
"Okay okay," I whimpered out loud as I collapsed to the ground. Before hitting the ground, I felt all of my bones breaking, shifting, and rearranging. Fur started to sprout all over as my face elongated. My vision became crystal clear as my sense of smell increased tenfold, even my hearing became increased, but with the amount of pain I was feeling, I couldn't hear much besides my own screams.
I wanted to check on Lizzy as I faintly heard her screams and the sound of her own body rearranging itself, but trying to turn my head was next to impossible. Soon, my own screams and cries turned into whimpers and howls. And then? Nothing. No pain.
I stayed lying on the ground, giving my new body time to adjust to the new feeling as I slowly started to open my eyes. I noticed Mom had a hand over her mouth while Dad and Elder Johnson looked shocked. I attempted to stand up on four shaking legs.
That's when I noticed I stood taller than Dad.
Dad stood at 6'7", so it was strange that I essentially stood maybe a good 5 feet taller than him. Even his wolf was only about 7 feet. He looked at me and smiled.
"Bree, you are absolutely beautiful."
Bree wagged her massive tail before looking down at herself. What I saw absolutely blew my mind....fur whiter than the purest of snow, almost see through.
"Bree, what?!" I managed to gasp out, floating in the back of her mind.
"I told you we are special," she responded with a smile in her voice.
Wondering how Lizzys shift went, we turned out massive bodies and were greeted with a much smaller female wolf. Lizzy's wolf was a beautiful mix of browns and blacks, with white paws, standing at 5 feet tall. Her wolf's eyes were golden yellow with flecks of green.
The wolves play bowed to each other before taking off through the woods. nipping and yipping with excitement. Playing and roughhousing like pups would before Lizzy stopped dead in her tracks and mindlinks me.
“Sophia says she smells something absolutely delicious!”
