Combining Resources

Leon POV I have been stuck in a meeting with the omegas for over half an hour, the head Omega ranting on about how the omegas were being mistreated and how their accommodation was being overlooked for renovations. All of his complaints should have been dealt with by the Luna, with only a few things needing my approval. I was beginning to question whether Stacey was doing her job or not. To my left sat my Beta, Darren, who was busily playing on his phone which was hidden under the table. To my right sat my Gamma, Jeff, who was supposed to be taking notes, but when I looked at the piece of paper in front of him it was full of doodles. Aren’t all of these issues supposed to be dealt with by the Luna? I asked them through the mindlink. Yep. Darren responded, as at the same time Jeff replied with, I don’t think she has met with the head omega in over a month. Shocked, I looked over at Jeff. How long exactly? I asked. He shrugged his shoulders, Since you and Darren have been going off to your fortnightly ‘meetings’. Darren, stop playing on your phone. Jeff, stop doodling and actually make notes. I want to know exactly what Stacey hasn’t been doing. I tell them. They both sat up straighter at my words, Darren putting his phone away and Jeff turning the paper over and writing a list of items that the head omega had already mentioned. My phone starts vibrating in my back pocket. Taking it out, I see that Sarah is calling me. I declined the call and sent her a quick text to say that I am in a meeting and will call her as soon as I can. As I am about to put the phone back in my pocket, it buzzes once more. Seeing the text message that Sarah sent me, I jumped to my feet and strode to the nearest door. Leon? Darren mind-linked me, but I just put my block up and dialed Sarah’s number. “What do you mean Beth has been kidn*pped?” I shouted down the phone as soon as Sarah answered it. It’s not Sarah’s voice that I hear, but Alpha Patrick’s “Alpha Leon. Alpha Patrick here. Let me tell you what we know. It appeared two men were lying in wait for Beth and Connor at our lakeside cabin. They used a scent neutralizer, and we believe they injected Beth and one of the guards with wolfsbane. By the time Connor noticed Beth was missing, they had escaped with her through the woods to a waiting car and driven off. We are currently trying to identify the car through CCTV, but we were hoping your familial link would assist us.” It took a moment for his words to sink in, but as soon as they did, I focused on my link with Beth. I could feel her, could feel that she was alive, but unlike when I had done this before, I couldn’t tell in which direction she was. “I couldn’t reach her. It’s as if her wolf has been blocked or suppressed. I am going to grab my Beta and a couple of warriors and head out to you in the next few minutes. Perhaps by combining our resources we will find her sooner.” I told them and hung up. Darren, Jeff. End the meeting, tell them to put their complaints in writing and I will deal with them when I get back. Then meet me in my office. I told them and headed to my office to wait for them. Five minutes later, they both arrive at my office. “What’s going on? The omegas were not happy about you walking out of the meeting.” Darren tells me. Unable to use my voice with the anger building up inside of me, I just showed them the text message on my phone. “Who’s Beth?” Jeff asked. Darren looks at me and I know the question he hasn’t voiced. I just nodded my head in response. “Beth is Leon’s eighteen-year-old half human daughter.” Darren tells him. “What?!” Jeff exclaims, looking between me and Darren in disbelief. “Why didn’t you tell me?” “We were keeping it quiet, to keep Beth safe. If Stacey knew…..” Darren explains, shrugging his shoulders. “Okay. I understand. Although I am a bit peeved that you didn’t tell me.” Jeff nods as he paces my office. “So, what do you want us to do?” Taking the seat behind my desk, I leant my elbows on the wooden surface, clasping my fingers together and resting my chin on my hands. Looking at my two best friends, I came to my decision. “Darren, I want you, our best tracker and most loyal warrior to leave with me in the next half hour. We will be travelling in wolf form to get there quickly. Pack for a week and have four more warriors, one having some tech skills, to follow on in two cars. Tell them all to pack enough clothing for at least a week.” “On it.” Darren says, leaving the office to follow my instructions. “What about me?” Jeff asks. “I need you to look after the pack and keep an eye on Stacey. I want someone close to her at all times. If she has anything to do with this, I want to know straight away.” I told him. “Of course. If she asks, what should I tell her?” “Tell her that one of the packs we have an alliance with is experiencing problems with rogues and request assistance. Don’t elaborate, no names, no whereabouts.” “Understood,” Jeff replied, heading towards the door. “I hope to meet our future Alpha soon.” He said before opening the door and leaving my office. Happy that things are in place for my departure, I head to the Alpha suite to pack, locking my office behind me. Grabbing a duffle bag, I started filling it with the clothing and toiletries I would need whilst I was away. “Dad…” came Lizzy's voice from behind me, the sound quivering with sadness, “Are you going away again?” Straightening, I turned towards her, holding my arms out to her. She rushes into them, wraps her arms around my waist and buries her face in my chest, as I encompass her with my arms and kiss the top of her head. “I’m afraid so, sweetheart. I don’t know how long I will be gone this time.” Raising her head from my chest, she looked up at me. “Can I come with you?” Unwrapping my arms from around her, I cup her face in my hands and shake my head slightly. Before I can utter the words, she steps back away from me and tears fill her eyes. “Please let me come.” She begs, “I want to learn how to be an Alpha from you and mum is definitely not teaching me how to be a Luna. All I learn from her is how to walk in heals and how to apply makeup. I want to learn how to lead, how to fight. I want to make you proud.” Little does she know how the words she just uttered make me feel proud, the proudest I have ever felt in relation to her. She is finally showing me that she can be an Alpha or Luna and break the hold that her mother has over her. Smiling down at her, I nodded in approval, “Fine, you can come with us, but you will travel in the car with the warriors and I will meet you at our destination. I will explain the situation to you when you arrive there. And not one word to your mother. Understand.” “Yes, daddy.” She exclaims and throws herself at me for a big hug. I held her tightly for a moment, kissing her head, before releasing her, “Now go and pack enough clothes for a week and meet me out the front of the packhouse in twenty minutes.” “Thank you, Daddy.” She smiled at me before rushing out of the room. I continue to pack and head out to meet with my warriors. Everyone is waiting for me next to two of the pack's SUVs. I throw my bag into the open boot of one of the vehicles as Darren approaches me. “Are you sure Lizzy should be coming with us?” he asks. I glance over at my daughter, who is bouncing on her feet in excitement. “I’m sure. She wants to be treated as a leader and not as a model like her mother treats her. I want one of the warriors to be assigned to her at all times.” “If you are sure?” Darren sighs, before heading over to two of the warriors and passing on my orders. Clapping my hands, I drew everyone’s attention. “You all know where we are heading.” I stated while mind-linking them Moonsprings. “So, let’s get moving.” Four of the warriors and Lizzy get into the two cars and head off, whilst myself, Darren, our tracker Baz and our head warrior Matt start stripping, placing our clothes into two rucksacks. Baz and Matt put the rucksacks on their backs and loosen the straps before we all shift into our wolves. I led the way into the woods next to the packhouse, out of our pack’s lands and towards Moonsprings. I set a decent pace and decided to fill Baz and Matt in on the situation enroute through our mind link. To say that they are surprised that I have another older daughter is an understatement. But now they know about her, they will do everything in their power to recover their future Alpha.
