You sold her?

Connor POV The sounds of fighting reached my ears, but my concentration was on the man I had in a choke hold in front of me. I could tell the man was scared, his hands shaking as he tried to loosen my arm from around his neck. He still hadn’t answered me, so I pushed my knuckles into his lower back, causing him to scream in pain. “I will tell you what I know.” He gasped out through his clenched jaws. Loosening the pressure from his back, I growl “I’m waiting.” “Th….there was a girl. The boss kept her in a room close to his. But she was sold.” He stammered. “Sold to who?” I asked. “I don’t know,” he replied. Not happy with his response, I dug my knuckles into his back once again. “I don’t know!” he screamed out. I let go of him and he sank to the floor in front of me, gasping in pain and holding a hand to his back. They sold her, I linked to my dad as I stepped over the man on the floor and made my way further down the corridor towards the sound of fighting. What? He linked back, shock evident in his tone. We need to find the boss. I tell him. I finally exited the corridor into a large, cavernous room which looked like a canteen, but with all the tables and benches strewn about and toppled. Lots of bodies litter the floor, with a few groups of men fighting. A group of women were huddled to one side with a couple of our men in wolf form pacing in front of them. I could see my dad and Alpha Leon, fighting back-to-back against three opponents, but I could see they were winning, so I carried on. It looks like we have taken them completely by surprise and have overpowered most of our opposition in a very short time. Making my way through the upturned furniture and groaning injured men on the floor, I approached the women. I see them shrink further into each other as I get closer. Stopping about a foot away from the whimpering women, I squatted down to their level. “I am looking for my mate. Her name is Beth, and she was kidn*pped by your boss a few days ago. I have been told that he has sold her. Do any of you know anything about this?” I asked, trying to keep my voice soft and compassionate, when on the inside I was trembling with rage. A small woman extracts herself from the group and slides towards me. “I know Beth.” She tells me, nervously wringing her hands. Smiling softly, I place my hand on her shoulder but when she flinches at my touch, I lower it once more. “I won’t hurt you. What do you know?” I asked her, gently. “The boss brought her in a few days ago, he had me….um….” her gaze dropped to the floor whilst she continued, “he had me strip her, so that the doctor could check that she was a virgin. I then had to get her ready for an auction. She was sold for a lot of money.” Cupping her chin, I raised her head gently. Noticing the tears falling down her cheeks, I wiped them away with my other hand. “What is your name?” “Silvy.” She replied, quietly. “Are you here willingly, Silvy?” I ask and she shakes her head as more tears fall. Rising to my feet, I offered her my hand. When she takes it, I help her rise to her feet. Looking over at the other women huddled together, I asked them the same question, “Are you all here willingly?” I am answered with tears, sobs, and shakes of their heads. I vow to look after these women, to help them recover from the ordeals that they have obviously suffered in this compound. It was only then that I noticed that the fighting had stopped. Still holding onto Silvy’s hand, I turned and found all our men standing around us. My dad, Alpha Leon, Darren, Stuart, and David are at the forefront. My dad steps forward, “You are all welcome to join my pack, Moonspring. You will be safe there.” “What the hell is going on here?” A roar echoed around the room, causing everyone to turn towards the corridor that we had entered from only minutes earlier. Standing in the opening was a tall, rugged man, who exuded authority. One of the women suddenly pushed her way through our men and ran as best she could in high stiletto heels over to him. “Oh…. Thank God you are here.” She squealed, grabbing onto the man’s arm. “These men came barging in here and started attacking us for no reason.” I could see the man visibly recoil from her touch as he prized her hand off his arm, before striding towards us. Alpha Leon and my father made their way through our men, and I followed them, taking my place next to my father as the man reached us. “Who are you and what do you want?” he demanded. “I am Alpha Leon of Bloodstone pack; this is Alpha Patrick and Alpha Heir Connor of Moonspring pack, and we have come to retrieve my daughter.” Alpha Leon stated, taking a step forward and glowering at the man standing in front of us. I watched as the man visible gulped when Leon introduced us. “She is also my mate.” I stated. “Who did you sell her to?” Stumbling back a couple of steps, the man stammered, “Your mate? But she is my mate.” “If she was your mate, why did you sell her?” my father asked, his disbelief evident in his voice. The man ran his hands through his hair as he paced in front of us. “We needed the money. I was going to take her back.” He mumbled. “She has another mate.” Grabbing his arm, I forced him to stop pacing and face me. “You are the jet-black wolf?” I asked, my brows creasing into a frown. His eyes widened and shock was evident in his face as he stared at me. “How did you know that? No-one outside of this compound knows about my wolf.” Turning to my father and Alpha Leon, I stated the obvious, “The witch was right. This is Beth’s other mate.” “Where is Beth? Where is my daughter?” Alpha Leon demands to know. “I don’t know.” The man replies, defeat causing his shoulders to slump. “The buyer bought her for someone else, and not long after she left here she was given to them, and they just disappeared.” “Disappeared?” I asked. He suddenly straightened and looked at me as if a lightbulb had just turned on in his head. “You said witch? You know a witch? She could do a location spell.” “How do you think we found you, Asshole?” I growled at him. “We don’t even know who you are.” My dad piped up from beside me. “Why should we believe a word you say?” “Oh, sorry. My name is Conrad, I run this place.” He said proudly, waving his arms around to elaborate. “So, you are responsible for how all these women are treated?” my dad asked. “Conrad? As in the missing Alpha Heir of Lunar Eclipse pack? Gerald’s son?” Alpha Leon asked. “He is not my father!” Conrad yelled in anger. “He was nothing but an abusive, self-centred prick. He tortured my mother with all his affairs with women that ended up black and blue and traumatised by what he did to them. The sadistic bastard. I saved these women from the same treatment.” He told us, pointing at the women still huddled behind us. “Is that what happened to my sister?” Silvy’s soft voice came from just behind me. Conrad’s eyes softened as he looked at the woman standing behind me. “I was too late to save her. But when his eyes turned to you……. I had to save you. That’s why I brought you here. That’s why I brought you all here.”
