My Mates Kingdom

Danny POV I ran outside into the summer heat. My legs move quickly down the hill to the training field. I train every day with Dom. I am already better than most of the boys in our pack.  My dad's commander Dominic is in charge of all the training.  He is a rough looking man. He has scars all over his body. Tattoos litter his arm, chest and back. His skin, hair and eyes are all a nice chocolate brown. He is also older, maybe in his early 30s. He would scare me if he didn’t treat me like his own kid.  He never found his mate. It is strange to be his age without one. Normally we find mates on or after our eighteenth birthday. I hope that Dom finds his mate one day. He would make a good father.  I am spoiled. I have absolutely anything I want. My father says he can't help it. I am his only daughter. I have two older brothers. Brady is 14 and Max is 13 years old. Neither of them like to train as much as I do. It broke my mothers heart when I preferred fighting instead of playing with dolls.  I finished my training with Dom and headed back to the pack house.  “What are you doing?” Audrey the Betas daughter said while running up behind me. She’s the closest thing to a sister I have. I love being around her but she’s just seven years old so she can become annoying at times.  She is beautiful. She has the perfect ringlet curls that are a white blonde. Her eyes are the lightest blue I have ever seen. She looks nothing like her parents. They both have dark hair and eyes. I, on the other hand, look just like my mother. My hair is a caramel color with hints of red. My eyes are a nice honey color. I am tall for a girl so far. I am literally my mothers twin.  “Hey Audrey. I was training and now I am going home. What do you want?” I try to hide my frustration. She already knows what I am doing.  “I had another dream last night. A bad one.” She whispered “What was it about?” I asked and she examined the grass at her feet for a while “I don’t remember. I just woke up scared and screaming your name. I think something bad will happen soon.” Her voice trembled a little “It is fine. Sometimes a dream is just a dream. Want to go see if my mom baked? She talked about apple pie earlier.” Audrey gives a huge smile and nods her head. We run back to the house together.  Our pack isn’t very large. Just a few hundred wolves. So we don’t have a large pack house. It fits the Alpha and Beta nicely but that leaves little to no room. It really is just a large two story house.  We walk in and my mom is having a whispered conversation with the female Beta Nancy. “He has been calling me nonstop Nancy. What am I going to do? When I change my number he finds the new one. Every time I try to stop him I fail. I cannot tell Richard he would flip out. The last thing we need is a war we can't win.” My mother went quiet after that and called my name. She smelled me already. I roll my eyes and walk into the kitchen. “Hey mom, any apple pie yet?”  “No honey but I made some scones. Would you like some?” I nod my head and she starts getting us a plate. I study my mom's face. She has been very upset lately. She doesn’t realize I know everything so she still tries to hide it.  Before my mother met her mate, my father Alpha Richard, she dated Travis. He is the Alpha of our neighboring pack. They only dated for a few months. My mother never talks about why she ended it. She avoids Travis now at all costs. She won't even speak his name. She seems terrified of him.  Some months after breaking up with him she met my dad. She came from a different pack so she changed packs when she mated. Travis lost her location for a while. Or that is what everyone thought. He must have really loved my mom because six months ago he started to contact her again. After fourteen years apart he still has an obsession over her.  The worst part is that he is literally our neighbor. He is way too close for anyone’s comfort. There are plenty of rumors about his pack but rumors are all there is. They keep very quiet so no one knows much about them. Typically neighbors are friendly to each other. You at least know some information about them. I once ran to their border on a dare. It gave me nightmares for a whole month. That place seems haunted. I never want to go back there.  My mother sat down plates of  scones and glasses of milk.  Nancy comes over and kisses Audrey on the head. "Hey honey. Watch your sister for a moment. She's in the swing." I look over at the baby swing in the corner of the kitchen and Audrey's baby sister is sound asleep.  "Okay mommy" Audrey smiles.  My mom left to talk to Nancy in another room. Right now Audrey is going on and on about a new teddy bear she wants. She is such a girl. Like frilly dresses and pink bows. After I finish my scone I make an excuse and run upstairs to my room.  I  pull out my books. One book describes war tactics while the other describes combat maneuvers. All I want to do in life is to become a warrior. The best study on the field and off. These books will help me be the best fighter I can be.  I read until my mom calls for dinner. I run down and kiss my dad on the cheek. I sit at the table beside him. “How is my princess doing today?” He asked. “Dad! I stopped being a princess a long time ago. I'm twelve and I am practically a grown up already.” I fold my arms over my chest. He just glares at me. “I am good.” I finally answered “Trained with Dom. Mom made scones. I stayed in my room most of the afternoon.”  “What did you do in your room?”  “I read about war tactics. There is a chapter all about King Henry's fallen kingdom” My father starts to get excited until my mother stops him with a low warning growl “Not at my table.”  “How was your day papa?” I asked changing topics “Today went really well. Promising new group.”  My two brothers come running in. My mom made lasagna with salad. We all sat around talking about the day and the new warriors. After dinner is finished we head into the living room for a movie. Mom made us hot chocolate while I cuddled up next to my father. I fall asleep and my dad carried me to bed. I was barely awake when I noticed him holding the book. I forgot to put it away. He looks back at me with a proud look on his face. He puts the book on my dresser and comes back to give my forehead a kiss. “We will discuss that tomorrow? You know I love you.” “I love you too papa.” I fall back to sleep as my dad leaves the room.
