Chapter five: Where is she?

952 Words
LIBERTY’S P.O.V As I walked into my room I saw Jas sitting on her bed reading as usual.  We both had time between the second and third period and we were both in our room. We had gotten to know each other better and had even exchanged numbers.  Anyways as I jumped on my bed she looked up from her book and gave me a strange look.  "What?" I asked her.  "Nothing special..." she let her calm words hang in the air.  "Just say it. I know you have something on your hearth," I answered her equally calm.  "Okay… Umm, what is going on with you and Jeremy?" she asked in a unsure tone and her eyes flicked around the room.  "Who?" I asked, even though I knew clear who she meant.  So that’s his name, Jeremy, not that I cared.  "You know who I’m talking about," she said knowingly.  "Umm… I don’t know… I first saw him in the first period, and he was staring at me, non-stop. Then after class, he stopped me and said ‘hey beautiful’ like objectifying is a daily thing for him. And both of those times I told him off, though he obviously couldn’t take the hint. So he came to me and Fran’s table in the cafeteria. And the weirdest thing happened when he touched me. I felt this tingling feeling where our hands met, totally weird. I got mad and left, I hated that he did that! Why do you care anyway?"  I was completely out of breath after my little serande.  Jas just looked at me. She furrowed her eyebrows and finally answered me.  "He’s my twin brother," she looked calm as she studied me. I didn’t pay attention to her anymore.  The moment she said twin, I felt my eyes watering. I thought about Hope. My dead twin. I missed her so much. It hurt to hear about or see other twins. The wound was too fresh.  Hope.  She consumed my mind and I didn’t notice Jasmine that was trying to get my attention. I could feel the first tear rolling down my cheek. I just stared into mid-air. As pictures of Hope raced through my mind. I finally calmed down when Jasmine came across the room and hugged me.  "Liberty? What's going on?" she sounded so kind and I focused on my breathing as the psychiatrist had taught me. I dried my eyes and cheeks with my palm.  I looked at Jas and she must have seen the sorrow in my eyes because she just hugged me. Right now I felt emotionless. Like I was a stone. It was sad that I compared myself with a stone, but it was better than being a crying mess.  "It’s nothing..."  I somehow managed to say.  I knew that she knew that I was lying, but she let it slide for now. And I was forever grateful that she didn’t push me. She looked at me kindly before saying;  "Just tell me when you’re ready"  I nodded gratefully. JEREMY’S P.O.V I looked for Liberty in the first period, but she was nowhere to be found. Where is she?  "I don’t know, maybe you scared her away?" My wolf growled at me.  Since I didn’t have any other classes with her I just hoped I would see her in the cafeteria.  Just then I remembered that she was Jas’es’ roommate. I texted her quickly  ‘Hey, sis. Do you know where Liberty is?’  She didn’t respond. I stared at my phone for the whole next period. Then I got another brilliant idea. I looked for her friend. The blonde one that never seemed to leave her side. I finally found her, walking down the hallway. I stopped her.  "What exactly is your problem?" She asked me in a calm, but annoyed tone.  "Uhh… I was just wondering if you knew where Liberty is?" I said in a pleading tone.  She gave me one look and raised her eyebrows.  "And why would I tell you that?" she said in that same tone.  She was annoying.  "I just need to know okay?" I said annoyed.  Though I quickly realized that it was a mistake since she gave me one calm gaze and walked straight past me. Why on earth do these things happen to me?  "It’s probably because you're so annoying," My wolf teased.  I am not annoying, I am just desperate to get to know my mate! When lunch came I was just mad. I got my food and then searched for Jas in the cafeteria. She sat on the same table as yesterday. To my annoyance, she was on her phone texting again.  I sat down and she looked up. I gave her an angry look.  "What?" she asked me innocently.  "Oh, I don’t know. When where you gonna bother to text me back?" I let my annoyance out on her.  "I’m sorry but I don’t know where she is. I was in the middle of a class and I wanted to pay attention. Figured you with your stalker skills would find her in no time," she said without an ounce of sarcasm or irony.  "Stalker skills? What’s that supposed to mean?"  I honest to the Moon Goddess didn’t know what she was talking about. But she just gave me one of those knowing looks and continued on with her texting.
