Chapter 17: Princess Night
Though the school was a short distance from Sakura’s home, they rode the tram back. Kazuki was certain she’d pushed herself to appear normal while keeping up with her friends. It was on the tip of his tongue to suggest they skip the rest, but he hated to try to pull her back when she’d finally started living again. If she still seemed too tired after she rested, he could deal with getting her to stay home then.
“Akari-san is a kind girl, isn’t she?” Sakura murmured as she leaned her head against his shoulder.
“Yes, yes she is.” He closed his eyes as his chest grew tight. He hoped Sakura hadn’t known, that she’d bought Akari’s sweet lie. A blank fortune was an anomaly, one taken as a strong sign that the receiver had no future at all. He squeezed her hand.
