Chapter Five

I found myself carrying a sleeping Destiny in my arms as I followed closely behind Diego. After getting her fed, well we fed he took us to a hotel that he owns. That didn't surprise me since he was a prince. "Where's your second hand?" He chuckled as we slowed down in front of a door. "He couldn't make it today, sadly." He swiped the card and held the door for me to go in first. He switched lights on and closed the door behind him. I looked around before turning back to him. "Hmm, I wonder why not the penthouse?" I joked. He rubbed a hand behind his neck nervously. "It's preoccupied at the moment." I stared at him for a moment before walking into the hotel bedrooms. I carefully laid Destiny on the bed. It was no point in taking her coat off if we weren't staying long. I cut the lamp on and walked out of the room after cracking the door. I took in Diego coming out of the small kitchen with two glasses and a bottle of wine. I took a seat on the nice plush couch. He sat across from me, opening the wine bottle. "So...I have a daughter." He started as he poured some wine in the first glass. "Yes, you do. How is this going to work?" I questioned as I took the wine he held up for me. "To be honest, I don't know. Everything is going to change when people know I have a kid." I took a sip of the nice sweet wine before setting the glass on the small coffee table. "I don't want Destiny in the public eye." A smile formed on his face. "That's her name?" He hummed. "What's her full name?" I sighed. "Destiny Marie Santino," I answered. I felt his eyes on me but I kept my gaze on my fingers. "I'm surprised you remember my last name." He said. "Well, I might not have known you very well but I knew the little things." He hummed in reply. "I want to spend time with her." "And that's great but I don't want her in some magazine cover. She's almost four and she's a shy girl. I don't want her in that publicity." "And you won't have to worry about that, Jennifer. That's why I didn't address it in the first place. You have nothing to worry about." I sighed in defeat and nodded. I grabbed my wine and took a long swig as the silence fell upon us. It was an uncomfortable silence. "How have you been?" He questioned, breaking the silence. "I've been good." I cleared my throat. "If you don't mind me asking, what were you crying about earlier." I felt tense up. "Crying?" I chuckled lowly. "Come on, Jen. I know when someone's been crying. Your eyes were bloodshot red." I sighed. I debated on whether I should tell him. I ran my fingers through my hair. "If you want to know, it was because of my dad." He nodded. He noticed I didn't want to give any more detail, he changed the subject. "Well, I think it's time to make meeting arrangements." "Meeting arrangements?" I questioned in confusion. "I want you to meet my mother and father." My eyes widen in shock. I don't think it would be a good idea. "Uh, I don't know." "They'll love you. And I'm pretty sure they would love to know about their secret granddaughter." "Are you sure since I'm considered a commoner?" I said. I remembered everything his second hand said. And it didn't take a web to know that a Royal and a Commoner aren't meant to mix. Which makes me wonder, what is Destiny? "Don't mind any of that. They're just titles." I bit my lip hard before questioning, "So what is Destiny's title." He exhaled a long breath. "A commoner if I don't give her claim of the royal side." I was silent after that. I didn't want him to put up with Destiny if he felt as if she would be a lowlife in his eyes. A young girl who can't be a full blood royal. I took the last sip of my wine and set the glass down as I stood to my feet. "I think it's time for me and Destiny to head home." "Wait, Jen. I didn't mean to..." "It's fine." I went into the room and grabbed Destiny and pulled her to my chest. Her head rested upon my shoulder. "Don't leave yet. It's so much more we have to talk about." I turned to him. "Diego, it's fine. Really. I just don't want you to feel obligated to take on the father role if you're not ready." He was frowning at this point. "Obligated? Jennifer did you not hear what I said on the couch. I want to know my daughter. I want to learn how to be a parent. Don't make up excuses to make the situation easier for you." I frowned before realizing he was right. I made some excuses and I had to stop running. I sighed before speaking. "Your right. I'm sorry." He walked up to me before raising a hand caressed Destiny's cheek. I notice her lips do a twitch before she snuggled more into my shoulder. He then raised my head to meet his intense gaze. His chocolate orbs burning straight into my soul. He leaned down and I closed my eyes on instinct. I was afraid of what he would do. That was before I got the shock of my life. He kissed my temple and pulled away. "I will give you anything you need, Jen. Don't hesitate to ask me." He pulled out my phone that rested in my coat pocket and I cursed for not having a password. He started typing and I would assume his number. A ding went off and he reached for his phone that was in his pants. "Now we can stay in contact." He said. He then walked over to the kitchen and he had a rose in his hand. I immediately felt my heart race. Why Diego? "I want you to have this to remember the first time." I remembered when he gave me a rose before we got drunk at the Christmas party. It was a good night and I was not just talking about the s*x. I smiled at him before giving him a last goodbye and was out of the nice hotel. I made sure Destiny was incorrectly before getting in the driver seat. I placed the rose on the passenger seat. A smile grew upon my face as I let my shoulders relax. A weight was lifted and I feel lighter.
