A Sapphire Luna and Beta

Amber Pov I've never considered myself pretty. I'm Amber James with curly auburn hair, ice blue eyes. Waiting for my wolf. And, of course, the apple of my mum's eye. It's been three weeks to the day that I lost my Dad- a pack warrior. He was considered one of the top ranking; he died in a car accident. When my Dad passed away, my friends initially rallied round me and my Mum, but as the month has gone on, they have become increasingly distant. Today is our last morning on the Red Moon territory. My mum has become more fearful. I think last night she was up till midnight packing. Its like the pack are turning on us, like they blame us for Dad's death. I grab the last of the things from my room, take one last look around and sigh sadly to myself. I have a lot of memories in this house. I feel like I'm being torn apart. Luckily, we are going back to my mum's old pack, Blue Moon. I'm told that the Alpha and Luna are mum's oldest friends and my God Parents; they have two sons. I apparently used to love my visits, but for some unknown reason, Alpha Thomas stopped us visiting when I turned 16. I step into the living room. It's empty say for the furniture. Mum is rushing round, I wish she would tell me what's going on. Every time I ask, she shuts me down with “I'm trying to protect you” nonsense. There's more to it. I know there is. I just wish she would open up to me. “Morning Amber sorry I've no time to make breakfast, we need to be gone by 10 am” “Mum? What is the rush? I have the right to know!” Mum looks at her watch “Amber its 9:55. We have to ….......” There's a loud bang at the door. Mum's. Forrest green eyes widen with fear, the hair on my arm and the back of my neck stand to attention. “Juliet!” A deep voice snarls from behind the door. Mum shakily walks to the door and opens it. Alpha Thomas walks into the doorway. He stands at 6ft with dirty blonde hair. His usual soft brown eyes are replaced with pools of black “You all packed?” “Y- Y- Yes Alpha!” Mum bows shakily “Good and make sure you never darken my door again!” Alpha Thomas growls loudly He slams the door, causing the whole house to shake. Juliet Pov 'Y-Y-Yes Alpha!' I bow. He slams the door. I feel the force of the slam rip right through me. After all my husband did for him, this is how me and my daughter are treated. I look to Amber, who is standing with her hands on her hips. “OK mum what is going on?!” “You have to tell her Ju she needs to know!'” My wolf Anya implores “I know but we have to get her away from here, first you heard him!” I cut the mind link and literally throw the last bits and Amber in the car. I drive to the boarder. We are let past with a warning to never return. I drive as fast as I am able. Amber looks stunned. I drive another two hours. The further away I am from Red Moon, the safer I feel. I spot a cafe. I need a break. I also need to call my parents to let them know we made it safely out. Its because of them and Alpha Jake that I'm still alive. I tell Amber to order something. After getting off the phone with my Dad, I go to sit with Amber. She sits with a look of tell me what is going on. “Juliet tell her!” My wolf only ever calls me by my full name when she's angry. Flash Back......... Its been two weeks since we lost my husband and Amber's Dad. Honestly, the only thing that is keeping me going is Amber. The pack members have been so kind to me and Amber. It's been a difficult time and my parents not being able to come to the funeral made it more difficult for me. Alpha Thomas forbade any further visits when Amber turned 16. I wanted to question him but my husband said we had to follow the Alpha's wishes. I was able to phone and text or email. I'm standing outside. Alpha's office I have been summoned. I knock on the door. “Come in”. I walk in to find a pack: Omega pleasing the Alpha. “Juliet! I'm sorry I lost track of time. Please forgive me”. He ushered the Omega away and got dressed. He gestures for me to sit “How are you Juliet? How is Amber?” “We're still adjusting to the shock I have days when I feel to sad to get out of bed. But Amber keeps me going. Forgive me, Alpha, but you said you wanted to see me?” “Yes, I have a proposition for you. Now that John has passed away, I imagine you would like to return to your old pack”. I freeze. Anya gives a warning “Well, yes, it would make sense, but I think it may be beneficial to wait until Amber finishes school.” Alpha Thomas adjusts his position “Well, Juliet, I will allow you to return to your pack, but Amber stays here. I want Amber to stay here and be my mate and Luna. I know what's best for her, it's what John would have wanted and her life will not be uprooted.” I'm dumbfounded. “So will that mean I will have to cut all ties and leave? Alpha, please, with all due respect, I am Amber's mother. If I do leave the pack, then it will be with Amber, and I'm certain that Amber would like the chance to find her own mate.” “Juliet think very carefully. Amber will be Luna. She will have everything her heart desires, she will have safety and she will be loved” Alpha Thomas stands clearly agitated. I swallow the lump that has formed in my throat. A life without my daughter? How can this possibly benefit us and him? Has he forgotten that I walked in on him less than 5 minutes ago with some other woman? I don't want that for Amber. John and I instilled the importance of mates in Amber. I look up Alpha Thomas is stood over me, I don't think he will take 'No' but I have to protect Amber “Ju no you can't possibly think this is a good idea, I know John wouldn't want this.” “The answer will be no. I just need to buy us sometime. I need to contact Dad and Alpha Jake”. I cut the link “Alpha this is a lot. Could I please have some time to think this over?” “No. I want an answer now!” I stand up “No. I can not imagine a life without my Amber”. I stand firm. Alpha Thomas becomes angry “Very well, but you will regret turning down this proposition”. I leave the office, I know Alpha Thomas will want to have me killed for this. He will see this as treason. I make a call to my Dad and Alpha Jake. Shortly after our meeting, Alpha Thomas made good on his promise by turning the pack against me. End of Flashback Amber Pov I can not believe what I am hearing. How dare Alpha Thomas threaten my mother. I would never agree to being Luna to the Red Moon, especially after what my Mum has told me. “Why didn't you tell me sooner?”. I ask angrily. I didn't mean to come across as angry. I feel bad “I was protecting you!”. I am angry that mum didn't tell me but I have to say I am relieved that she took a stance. We continue our journey. I look over to my Mum. She looks happier. Its amazing really how much I look like her. I've inherited her long curly auburn hair and curves, except my eyes. I have my Dad's ice blue eyes and nose shape. “Amber? You OK?”. I shake my head “Yes I'm good thanks”. I really am thankful after all she has been through losing her husband and mate, she still found the strength to put her own feelings aside to protect me. We approach the border of the Blue Moon. I feel a surge of excitement. A bright smile spreads across mum's face for the first time since losing Dad. I see her Forrest green eyes sparkle. We cross the border. There is a thick forest either side of the road. I roll my window down. The smell of the pine ignites memories. As we clear the forest, we are met with the first of the cottages that make up the pack's space. We follow the road up to the main pack house. It's a brick mansion with blue window shutters and a huge porch with a swing chair in the front. The main front doors are blue with silver door knobs and fittings. Waiting to greet us are my grandparents and Luna Siri. Mum parks and is out of the car and into Pop's arms. “Daddy, it's so good to see you”. I sense emotion in my mum's voice. “It's OK you're home, you're safe. Both of you”. Pops lets go of mum and turns to me. He stands a least 6ft 5. Greying hair, strong arms and forest green eyes like Mum, soft facial features. He grabs me and pulls me into a huge bear hug. He squishes my ribs “Hey Pops”. I return the hug. I have to admit I have missed these hugs “Hey Jerret, I need a hug from Amber too”. I run to my Nanna Violet. She smooths my hair. I have missed her. Her scent of lavender, soft auburn hair and hazel eyes, she has the same facial features as Mum and curves. “How are you, Cookie?”. I giggle “I'm good Nanna”. “Juliet!”. A voice makes me turn toward the front of the house. “Luna Siri!” Mum shrieks. Mum runs up the porch to a tall lady with long silver grey hair and a pale complexion it suits her. She holds my Mum at arms length. Bright grey eyes assess her. She then pulls my mum back into a hug “Oh Juliet, I 'm so sorry for your loss. I wish I could have been there for you”. Luna Siri sounds sad. Luna Siri breaks the hug then turns to me. I bow my head in respect “Amber, there's no need to bow to your godmother”. She opens her arms and I happily go. Her hug is gentle and the scent of honey fills my nostrils. We are ushered inside; the pack house is huge. The foyer is decorated with grey, pink and blue. There is a grand stair located on the left which leads up to the second floor, a thick grey carpet dresses the stairs. The ground floor is open plan. A huge living area with a massive corner sofa dressed with pillows and thick throws, there is a dining area with a long table and 12 chairs sitting along both sides of the table. At the top end, 2 elaborately decorated chairs sit. Off to the left of the main dining area is a more casual dining area. It still has a huge dining table. In the right corner is a doorway which, if memory serves me correctly, leads to the kitchen. We sit in the living area and omegas bring out trays laden with tea, coffee, jugs of juice, sandwiches, cakes of all sorts. “Siri, you didnt have to go to all this trouble for us”, Mum insists. “Nonsense, it's not every day your best friend and goddaughter come home. Besides, you think this is too much wait till you see what I have planned for Amber's 18th!” I see Mum roll her eyes. “My 18th ?” I ask “Yes, of course we celebrate all special birthdays here! And yours won't be any different. “Jake sends his apologies but he had some last minute business come up. Xavier and Xander had to go. They will be back tomorrow.” A few hours later, after lots of laughing, food, tears and drinks, I'm unpacking my new room. We have been given a cottage next to my grandparents. It's a quaint cottage with an open-plan living dining area and a kitchen. The cottage has been furnished to my mum's taste. The kitchen has been stocked full. My room is decorated in different colours of purple and blue. I have a huge walk in wardrobe. My bed is a king size with lavender bedding, a thick blue throw, blue and purple throw cushions. The carpet is thick and lovely under my feet. The following morning, I'm up early before Mum. I decide to go for a run. During my run, my ear buds start acting up. I keep walking as I mess with my settings. Before I know it, I bump into a hard chest “Sorry my buds are acting up”. I look up to see a 6ft 5 blonde God. Muscular frame, sculpted face, dark brown eyes. “No worries sweetie”. He smiles “Besides, it's not every day I get to bump into an auburn beauty. Girl, you got some curves!” “Duke” “Amber”.
