Chapter 1

Anna- we cannot go forward with giving you the floor manager position because we think you need to grow as a sales clerk first before we can consider you floor manager material. Growing as a sales clerk will provide you more experience at Bloomingdale's and encourage you to take your job here with us more seriously. If you have any questions, please talk to Priscilla. All the best, Catherine "What a load of bullshit," I thought as I angrily exited out of my email, "clearly five years isn't good enough for those dumbasses." I signed with frustration and tossed my phone on my bed just as it was ringing. I checked the caller ID and saw that it was Alison. "So, did you here back from management yet?" she asked when I answered. "Yeah I did," I answered with a huff, "and it's not good news." I then told her what the email said, and when I was finished, I was almost crying with frustration. "I know I've said that you need to be patient, but that's a load of crap," Alison said, "you're the most hardworking and dedicated worker I know." "Yeah, well Catherine and her little posse don't seem to see it that way," I said as I wiped my face, "just last week, Connor promoted Viktor to manager, and he's only been at Bloomingdale's for a year." "Isn't Viktor Connor's nephew?" Alison asked, "I here he's a real piece of work." "Yeah he is, and he's just as useless as his uncle, not to mention an idiot." "Maybe you should get away for a bit," Alison suggested, "to vlear your head, you know?" "That's probably a good idea," I said, flopping down on my bed, "what did you have in mind?" "I was thinking you, me and Taylor could go up to Yosemite National Park for Fourth of July weekend," Alison answered, "my parents have a cabin up there that we sometimes go to during the summer so I'm sure they won't mind if the three of us go up there for a weekend getaway." "Sounds like fun," I said with a sigh, "I could really use a break from work and a chance to get away from the morons who run it." "Great," Alison said, "I'll call Taylor and let her know that we'll leave that Friday and come back Monday." "Sounds good," I said, feeling a lot better, "I'll put in the PTO at work and I'll be sure to let you know if it gets approved." As soon as I hung up, I logged into my Smart Shift app on my phone and immediately put in PTO for Friday to Monday during fourth of July weekend, explaining that I would be going camping with friends and that my spot was already reserved and non-refundable. Once that was taken care of, I laid back down on my bed and stared up at the ceiling, imagining ways to get back at the management at Bloomingdale's, such as taking over the company and firing Catherine, Priscilla, Viktor and Connor or coming up with ways to get them fired. Even though these things probably would never happen, it was still both fun and satisfying coming up with ways to get rid of them. "At least I'll be able to get away from their stupidity for a while," I thought as I drifted off to sleep, "all three of them are morons and can't recognize potential if it bit them in the ass."
