Gabriella's UTME

The journey through the sciences wasn't as difficult as Gabriella thought it was going to be for her. She had thought that maybe all the news she heard about the sciences were just over hyped. She was very intelligent and a physics guru. She had overtime become the physics teacher, Mr James, favorite student.

Here she was in SSS 3 and has successfully sailed the three years journey down from her SSS 1 class. They had been informed that the UTME exam, which was what determine admission into the university, registration was ongoing. Students were advised to register early with awaiting SSCE results because the exam was yet to be concluded. Gabriella had registered for her UTME exam and was patiently studying ahead of it. The dates of the exam was out and she was scheduled for Thursday which was just two days ahead. She felt some sort of anxiety and worry but had to be strong if really she wanted to do well in this exam.

It was Thursday and Gabriella's exam was scheduled for 12pm. Her driver had driven her to the place and they were there at about 11:45am. She went into the venue and was thoroughly searched while the driver was to wait outside till her exam was concluded. At about 2:10 pm, Gabriella came out of the building with an expressionless face and went into her car. "Hope it went well?" asked the driver "yeah it did, I can't say much till I see my result" She replied. "No problem, but I'm very sure you are going to pass", "why are you so confident about my success?" She asked. "Because I'm extremely sure of it" said the driver as he drove off.

The SSCE exam just concluded with the last paper which was Agricultural science. Students were trooping out of the hall shouting, jumping and singing as that was the end of their stay in secondary School. Some wrote on their uniforms while others wet themselves. Gabriella had just got to the canteen to buy herself a bottle of coke when her classmate Betty called her from behind

"Hey Gabriella" Betty greeted

"Hey Betty, good afternoon" She responded

"I know you must be very satisfied with your UTME result" Betty said

"I don't understand, is it out?" she asked

"Yes, don't tell me that you have been in the dark. It came out yesterday and I got a 230 score. I'm so happy because I exceeded the cut off for the university and my department too" Betty replied

Gabriella stood staring, she dropped the bottle of coke which she had drank half way and told Betty to accompany her to check hers at the nearest cyber cafe.

Gabriella's driver dropped them at a cyber cafe which would have been a 20minutes walk from their school. Gabriella had given the attendant all the requirements to check the result

"Wow, this is fantastic" replied John who was in charge of the cyber cafe.

"She passed right?" asked the driver who has accompanied the two girls into the cafe.

"Yeah, she made a 294" replied John

"What! That's extremely high Gab" said the driver

"Are you sure?" asked Gabriella

"Of course he is sure. When will you stop doubting yourself? That score of yours is taking you to Mechanical engineering without negotiation" said Betty

"Why Mechanical engineering? That course is for guys. You should study nursing or Medicine" suggested John

"Can I have the printout now?" Gabriella requested

"oh sure" John replied.

No sooner had the results been released than all the students gotten information of Gabriella's score being the highest. Her parents ego rose. Mr Alex had to build a very big automobile company for Gabriella if she maintained her success history in the university. And as expected, the SSCE results came out and she made all her papers. After some months, she was successfully admitted into the university.
