Chapter 3

Aurel's POV The man with green eyes always had a calm expression. I didn't have a perfect relationship with him and didn't know why, within two years, he became close to Edward. Mathias Winsor was still the same. His presence could intimidate his opponents, and I always heard his name because he was a famous businessman. "Aurel!" Edward immediately embraced. I could feel his overwhelming longing overflowing. "Look at you now." He released the hug to look at me intensely, his glassy eyes making me sad. "You look like a mess." "Yes," I spoke briefly, still uncomfortable with Mathias being here. Edward noticed my glance. The man and I had only ever said hello at the big party twice. This was very awkward. Edward whispered in my right ear. "He can be trusted. My friend." His explanation with a smile didn't make me any more relieved. There were still a lot of things that other people shouldn't know. Edward held my hand like I was a child about to be lost. He was so attentive to me that when I chose that jerk, he was so angry with me. Then now that anger was gone, he accepted my return quickly. Hisq anger was only for Logan. I feel relieved. Surviving all this time by leaving my family behind wasn't very good. Everything I built was like an illusory palace that brought me into a void. "Aurel, just calm down. I will destroy that bastard." A heavy voice. The harsh Edward would do just that. He could contact his people to wreak havoc. "No need. I'll do it myself." I took a sip of my drink to calm myself down. Another glass of water was pushed towards me. Mathias handed it over and gave me a surprise. This man must have known what was happening to me and it was embarrassing because it could have been a taunt. "I can help you." His voice was low, making me look at him immediately. Mathias looked at me so deeply. Eyes that were beautiful to look into and carried an air of mystery. He kept his eyes on me who was shocked by his words. He didn't need to do anything. The long night ended with many things still bothering me. Now, Edward and Angela held my hand and gave me a slightly depressing pep talk. "Mom and Dad will accept you back," Edward spoke confidently. I will accept everything. Those I left behind would indeed feel disappointed, but I thought I couldn't run away anymore since I was already in front of the house. I prepared myself to receive curses from my parents. This was all my fault. It might take time for them to forgive me for this mistake. Passing through the large door whose carvings always caught my attention made my heart beat even faster. My body stiffened at this. The more I entered and finally saw the faces of the two of them who looked surprised by my arrival. They immediately stood up, walking quickly. Perhaps a slap would land on my cheek. Without realizing it, I closed my eyes. "Aurel! You're back!" Mom's loud voice entered my ears. The only warmth I felt was from the hug my mom gave me. She buried her face in my shoulder, and I could feel the wetness there. At that moment, my tears were unstoppable. I returned the hug and cried in a loud voice. The tears flowed like a broken dam. I really had behaved badly with my family and they still showed the same warmth. After almost half an hour, I was finally able to calm down. Flanked by my parents, I felt calmer. Both of them kept holding my hands. "Father is furious about this. I'm going to destroy that ignorant man." The wrinkles on his face seemed to grow. He must have been going through a tough time because his daughter was against him then. I rubbed his hand gently. Father looked back at me. "Father, don't bother yourself. I'll do it." He returned the touch of my hand more tightly, making me sure that he wouldn't let go of this so quickly. I spoke again to control the situation. "Revenge will be fun if you do it yourself, Father. Of course, I'll need your help later." The relationship between children and parents cannot be lost. I also knew my father quite well. He always liked being reliable. "Your father will definitely help you. That's why we've decided to make you the leader of Celestle. Inc." Mom said something that really surprised me. That company had always interested me since the beginning. It was a company with many subsidiaries. A big company that was perfect for me to pay back what Logan had done. However, there was a nagging feeling due to the fact that I had once thought of myself as knowing better than Logan what was best for me. It was too good for me to hurt them, and the doubts grew since I hadn't received the inheritance teaching I had previously done. My shoulders were heavy, and I didn't want to act rashly. "Mother, father, I'm thankful you care about me so much." I looked at them one after another. "But, I haven't done such big things in a long time. Celeste. Inc could have been destroyed by my hands." The responsibility is too great. If I misstepped, it wouldn't be just me who would be affected. My head was quickly rubbed by my smiling father. Those who were surrounding shook their heads slowly. Father's eyes became deeper than before. "Aurel, you have us. Everything can be solved because Edward and Mathias will help you." My mouth opened. Even inconveniencing Edward was a burden to me. Now that they mentioned the man's name, it seemed they had a very close relationship. "Mathias..." I took a breath. "Father, he's a stranger. I don't want to inconvenience Mathias or Edward." "He won't be a bother, and neither will I," Edward replied affirmingly. Those here agreed about that. There are many things that happened in just one year, I will find out about them later. The next day, in a calmer time, although my eyes were a little swollen from crying earlier, I had already done something I wanted. One document was in my hand regarding Logan and that b***h, Alice. "So, she's the daughter of the company Logan is working with. Greenland Company." I raised one eyebrow when I read about this. Unbelievable, that woman is doing secretarial work only on her father's advice or perhaps because she has other intentions. No wonder that man said that Alice is different from me and considers that woman like the most precious treasure. He thinks everything that happens to him is because of Alice's help. He doesn't know that I did everything. But, indeed, I'm not on her level because I'm in a position she can't reach. "That's right. They are planning to get engaged." Edward sipped his tea quietly. I chuckled. Logan was straightforward in changing his attitude toward the situation, and he was a trashy guy who had forgotten where he came from. "Interesting." "You must finish them off at the root, Aurel." Angela's expression was hard, she probably would have stood up if her hand wasn't held by Edward. They made a good couple. "Of course, Angela." Angela's expression then changed, her eyes became sparkling. She looked at Edward sharply. "That's right, there will be a big party at Beidan's company soon, right?" Edward nodded. It was one of the Ashton family's big companies. "They'll be there, Aurel." He looked at me excitedly. "I didn't expect to meet them so soon." Not just anyone can come there. I, who they think of as a village woman, being there would definitely make them feel strange and hurt their pride. "But, who did Aurel come with?" Angela touched her chin. She had a lot of heavy thoughts. She must have come with Edward as they were engaged. I might as well come without a chaperone or whoever it is. I'll think about it later. "That's an easy one. Mathias will be willing." This time I was the one who couldn't reply to his words because I was so surprised. The name still felt so unfamiliar and the peridot-colored eyes were always on me like they were gripping me.
