Chapter 5 Going to Hell

1067 Words
It was Chris. He had secretly walked behind Jessica. He was tall and wearing a white shirt as yesterday. Under the morning sunshine, he looked handsome and bright. When their eyes met, Jessica instantly froze. Seeing this, Robert instantly showed a gloomy face. Chris looked into her eyes, raised his hand, handed a delicate suitcase to her with a smile, and gently said, "Here you are. You left it yesterday." Jessica looked into his eyes momentarily, reached out to take it, and opened her lips. But she found she couldn't make any sound. Robert clenched his fists in his sleeves when anger exploded in his chest. She had left her luggage in his place yesterday! Why? She must have slept with him and forgotten it when leaving! When Robert thought of the hickeys on her body, he confirmed his suspicion. "Have you had breakfast?" While speaking, Chris did not look away from Jessica. And the tenderness and concern in his voice had not changed, although many years had passed. "Yes, I have." Jessica did not tell the truth because she could not make an excuse to refuse if he invited her for breakfast. She lied and felt guilty, so her voice was low. However, the simple question and answer had a different meaning in Robert's ears. He felt her words extremely harsh because she had never spoken to him in such a soft voice. Robert could no longer suppress his rage, shouting, "You cheated on me!" All the parents and students instantly stopped and turned to look at them. Jessica's face became gloomy when she glared at Robert and said, "Are you insane? We are at school." Robert laughed and deliberately loudly said, "Why? Are you afraid of embarrassment? You cheated on me! Why don't you dare to tell people about it?" His words stirred up a sensation. Many parents and students around them were shocked. And the parents and students in the distance also gathered around them after noticing the commotion. And people began to discuss the matter with each other. Jessica panicked when she suddenly figured out what Robert was up to, thinking he was despicable. "Robert, don't slander me. I have never cheated on you. If you have a conscience, you should stop making a scene in my workplace. Please leave." She was so angry that she trembled all over. Although she had had a one-night stand after getting drunk just the day before yesterday, it was after the divorce. Besides, this matter had nothing to do with Chris. But Robert had gotten him involved. Jessica could not tolerate such a thing. Robert's eyes turned red with jealousy so he would not stop midway. He glared at Chris with hatred and roared that everyone around them could hear, "Ms. Blake, your adulterer is here! But you still refuse to admit it. No wonder they say cultured people are eloquent. Adulterer, say something if you have balls. Are you a man only when having s*x?" Before he could finish the vicious words with ulterior motives, he was heavily punched in the face and cried in pain. "Stop insulting her!" Chris was a gentleman. But he had taken the initiative to fight before speaking anything. "Chris, how dare you hit me! Who do you think you are? I will kill you." Robert rubbed his painful face and rushed toward Chris with a fierce look. He went crazy like a gambler who lost the game. He was always the loser in their relationship. Even though he had played tricks to marry Jessica, he had never won her heart. That was why he had cheated on her. After all, Queenie had given him both her heart and body. But he was unwilling to divorce deep down at heart. When he had met Chris again, the unwillingness he had suppressed had broken out. He had thrown away dignity and grace because he wanted to drag Jessica and Chris to hell together with him. When the two men fiercely fought for a woman at the school gate, it caused a sensation. While the onlookers watched the fun, the voices accusing Jessica got increasingly loud. They said she did not deserve to be a teacher because of her indecent behaviors. Even her students were looking at her with contempt. They were all blaming and despising her. Jessica stood in place and felt cold because she did not know how to explain. Eventually, several security guards separated Robert and Chris and unceremoniously kicked them out of the school. Jessica was called to the principal's office. After being severely blamed, she was suspended without any room for negotiation. This incident was too indecent. Many parents and students had been present, damaging not only Jessica's reputation. She had brought disgrace to the school! When she walked out of school, she knew they would never let her return to work, whether she was innocent or not. The sun was shining brightly, but she couldn't feel any warmth. After the divorce, she lost her job. Now, she had nothing. When she was walking forward in despair, a familiar voice suddenly said from behind, "Jess!" Jessica was shocked because she recognized the voice. It was deeply rooted in her heart, so she knew who the man was. After slowly turning around, she saw Chris standing behind her as expected. It turned out he had never left. "I'm sorry. I seem to have messed up your work." While speaking, he looked at her with injuries on his forehead, eyes, and mouth. Robert's attacks were ruthless. Jessica felt distressed to see them, so her eyes instantly turned red. Then, she said, "I have followed your old path. I can no longer be a teacher either." Her words made Chris's pupils shrink. Then, he bitterly smiled, "I feel good after losing my job as a teacher. At least I'm free. Now, you are also free." Jessica smiled more bitterly. As long as a person was alive, he would never be free. "It was because of me that you couldn't be a teacher. Now, we are even." Robert would not have made such a scene if Chris hadn't appeared here today. But she could not blame Chris no matter what. Hearing her mention their past, Chris was moved. He held her hand affectionately and said, "Jess, we can return to the past. You are divorced, right? Can we get back together?"
