Chapter 7 Danger

1173 Words
Jessica widened her eyes and said, "What? I will go to jail if I kill him." She thought he was insane. Howard asked, "Why haven't you turned the steering wheel since you know?" She was speechless, thinking he was not insane but too mean. He should have told her if he wanted her to turn the steering wheel. But he had said such words to scare her. Moreover, she would have long turned the car to avoid the man if he had not distracted her from behind. After all, she had gotten her driver's license many years ago. She was so nervous when the car passed the man at a high speed that her palms sweat. After all, she barely drove. "Can you drive the car by yourself? Don't risk our lives, OK?" She didn't want to die. Although her life had hit the bottom, she would not seek death. "Beg me!" When Howard leaned forward, his warm breath blew on her face. Why was he doing this again? She did not want to beg him! She felt ashamed and angry. So, she took a deep breath and sternly said, "There is a misunderstanding between us. Maybe the one-night stand made you think I am a wanton woman, but I am not. I have never... In short, I don't want to play with you. If you want to play, please choose another woman." Jessica had not told him she had never done it before because he would not believe it. Such words would only bring humiliation to herself. Howard's voice was dangerous and charming when he said, "The game has started since you got in my car. Do you think you can stop it at will?" Then, he slammed on the accelerator again. Jessica didn't even know how she got out of the car. She had never imagined or experienced such exciting racing before. The dual pressure on her body and mind almost burst every cell in her body. The excessive tension and bumps made her legs weak after she got out of the car. And her stomach was churning. So, she squatted on the side of the road and retched for a while. She had hardly eaten anything since yesterday, so she vomited nothing. But the retching made her uncomfortable. Howard folded his arms, leaned against the car, and looked at her with a half-smile, saying, "I thought you were strong. But you turn out to be just so-so." Jessica raised her eyes and glared at him, saying, "Yes, I am just so-so. Please don't appear in front of me again. You suck." The men bullying women were lame. Howard's face instantly became gloomy. He bent over, grasped her face, narrowed his dark eyes, and aggressively said, "You have aroused my interest. It will be interesting to take out your arrogant bones individually." While speaking, he looked at her with his sharp eyes as if staring at prey. Seeing this, Jessica violently shuddered and realized she had messed with a man she should not have messed with after getting drunk that night. So, she must quickly cut the knot. She waved his hand away, sneering, "You asked me if I wanted to bug you that night. Now, I want to ask you if you can't afford to play." Howard's face was ice-covered when she continued, "You suddenly showed up at the school where I work to investigate me, right? We just had a one-night stand. How can you stalk me? We are both adults. Be mature! Let's part friends, OK?" Howard's chest violently heaved because her words were sarcastic and contemptuous. These used to be his favorite lines. But she had said them before he did. And her attitude and tone were more ruthless than his. "Wait and see! You will beg me sooner or later." Howard was proud. Since Jessica had said such words, he would no longer bug her. So, he turned around, got into the car, and drove it away without hesitation. She breathed a sigh of relief but soon felt worried again. He had left her in the middle of nowhere. She didn't even know where she was. Fortunately, she kept the suitcase Chris had returned to her. She quickly took out her phone but found the place was so remote that there was no reception. According to her memory, she had no choice but to walk back along the road. Unexpectedly, she had not seen a person or car after walking for hours. As it was getting dark, she felt increasingly scared. Suddenly, her phone rang. And she was surprised to find there was reception now. The call was from Gail, so she quickly answered it. "Jess, where are you? I kept calling you but was told your phone was out of service. Are you OK?" "Gail!" Her long-suppressed grievances and fears burst out when Jessica heard her worried voice. So, her voice became sobbing. Gail anxiously asked, "What's wrong? Are you in trouble? Where are you?" "I don't know where I am. There are no people or street lights here. It's getting dark. I'm scared." Jessica had a secret that she was afraid of the dark. "Don't be afraid. Listen. Please send me your location and turn on the light on your phone. Please wait for me where you are. I will find you soon." Jessica blankly nodded, "OK." It was getting darker and darker, so she had difficulty breathing. After sending out her location, she turned on the light on the phone and put it in front of her. Then, she hugged her legs with her arms and huddled on the grass on the side of the road. She waited until the light went out because her phone ran out of juice. But Gail hadn't arrived. The surroundings were eerily quiet. And the night wind was cold. Jessica closed her eyes and tightly hugged herself. Her body was shivering because she felt cold and scared, thinking the darkness was devouring her nerves and blood. When the unbearable childhood memories overwhelmingly popped into her mind, she almost had a mental breakdown. Suddenly, a bright light hit on her. When she heard a car come over, she raised her head, covered her eyes with her hands, and almost cried joy, thinking Gail finally arrived. Unexpectedly, the car went past her without stopping. Jessica was confused to see this. After the car went away for about ten meters, it suddenly stopped. Then, two young men with yellow hair and tattooed arms got out of it. Jessica instantly backed away. "Beauty, why are you here alone?" "Would you like a ride? I can take it home." When the two yellow-haired young men smiled and leered at her evilly, she instantly turned around and ran. She knew they were bad guys. If she didn't run away, the consequences would be disastrous. The yellow-haired young men had not expected her to react so quickly. Before they got close to her, she had already run away. So, they immediately chased after her.
