Retaliation
It was difficult to believe, but of the eight requests scheduled for him this morning, so far he’d heard six of them. And every one had been good news.
“Thank you for bringing the Charm to us.”
“Please thank the Charm for the rain.”
“Is it true the Charm will be with us for the next half year?”
And so it continued, one after another.
Before he’d gone into his audience chamber to begin hearing from his people, he’d double checked with the physician as to Genesee’s condition. The man reassured him she was doing well and sleeping peacefully. That bit of news had lifted a huge weight off Egan’s shoulders. Coupled now with the positive information and blessings he was getting, he was on the verge of allowing himself to have hope again.
