Chapter 29 Call Lying in the bottom of the swaying basket, Genesee fought the urge to throw up. Coupled with the throbbing in her head, she was unable to think or react. The men who’d attacked her spoke little. Not wanting them to know she was conscious, she stayed mute. The bag they’d shoved over her head remained in place, allowing her to open her eyes without being observed. Carefully, she tested the wrappings keeping her hands bound behind her back. They were solid, but not so tight as to impede blood flow. That meant they’d been ordered to bring her back alive and relatively unhurt. She flexed her fingers until she could touch the knots.
