CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE Tony was in a quandary: should he tell Malcolm that Audrey was unconscious in the room next door and that she may not survive? Or was it better for Malcolm not to know? He had been hailed a hero by his father, but he didn’t feel one. Yes, there had been black ice and snow was falling but, whichever way he looked at it, his car had blocked Audrey’s escape and forced her to jump into the river. And now he had to tell this kindly old man news that would probably kill him. ‘Are you ill?’ Malcolm asked, as he attempted to rally his hair.
