Roxanne
I was so stupid.
I couldn’t believe I actually thought something could happen between Daxon and I. How could I forget he was just a playboy?
And then I was embarrassed that even a playboy wasn’t attracted to me and literally had to go have s*x with another woman after going down on me.
I had never felt more gross.
The silence in the car on the way to lunch was incredibly loud. Almost screaming.
“Roxanne, we need to talk,” Daxon said finally. “You got the complete wrong idea about last night.”
“I’m aware,” I responded. “I thought you were attracted to me and you’re not.”
“Why do you keep saying that?!”
“Because that’s what your actions told me! You tried to hook up with me but couldn’t go through with it because you dont find me attractive and then you f****d your assisstant!”
“I was m**********g!” Daxon exclaimed. “Alright? I wanted to have s*x with you so badly, but I was worried that it would f**k up our deal and your life so I convinced myself to wait until we knew each other better!”
“Dax-”
“And then I was so horny I had to get off and all I could think about was you, and my stupid elbow accidentally hit my phone and called Rosie and I was shocked and said her name. A-and then I was so embarrassed that I pretended I had been f*****g another girl when really, it was just my hand!”
I looked over at him in shock. He was breathing heavily and looked like he was stressed out.
“Sorry,” I muttered.
I wasn’t sure what else to say. It seemed I had been completely wrong about Daxon. And I felt pretty flattered that he was m**********g to me.
I slowly reached over and put my hand on his thigh. He glanced over at me before smiling.
I was glad I was wrong about him.

Remy and Beatrix still didn’t seem very thrilled about my relationship with Daxon, but I was hoping that by the end of lunch, that would change.
“Um, Roxanne has told me so much about you guys,” Daxon offered after minutes of silence. “You guys seem like great friends.”
“And she told us not a thing about you before yesterday. Why is that?” Beatrix asked.
“I told you, I was a little embarrassed about cheating,” I shrugged.
“But we’re best friends. We tell each other everything, Rox.” Remy stated. “We have for six years.”
“I know…I guess I just never expected things to get this far with Daxon.”
“So Daxon…what are you getting out of this relationship?” Beatrix asked bluntly.
“You mean besides…love and affection?” Daxon asked slowly.
“Exactly.”
“Um…you seem to think I have some ulterior motives with Roxanne and I promise you I don’t. I care deeply about her. I love her.”
Remy scoffed. “You’re using her and it’s horribly obvious.”
“Yeah, and what am I using her for?”
“Your image. You’re tired of your bad boy man w***e reputation so you’re using Roxanne in order to seem like you’ve gotten your life together for the tabloids or your family or something.”
Remy was always too smart for his own damn good.
“And how would that benefit Roxanne?” Daxon questioned.
“We haven’t figured that part out yet,” Beatrix admitted. “But money probably.”
“So you think I’m manipulating her into legally marrying me for possibly money?”
Even though that was a version of the truth, I couldn’t help but laugh. Daxon’s seemingly genuine confusion was fully entertaining.
“You think this is funny Rox?” Beatrix demanded.
“Kinda,” I giggled. “You’re sitting here interrogating my fiance because he’s…rich and hot? Like do you think he’s too good for me or something?”
“What? No, Roxanne. The opposite!” Remy insisted. “You are amazing and wonderful and talented and you’re too good for this ‘f**k everything that moves’ pretentious douche who has tricked you into marrying him.”
My jaw dropped. “Remy, what the f**k?! You don’t even know him! You have no kind of proof that he’s tricking me into doing anything!”
“No, but we do have this,” Beatrix handed me a folder.
“And what is this?” I sighed.
“That’s at least ten women Daxon has slept with since he’s claimed to be in love with you. One of those is from four days ago, just so you know. Your fiance is a cheater.”
Daxon
My stomach dropped when Beatrix pulled out the folder.
I watched in horror as Roxanne opened it and was met with pictures of me with various different women. Most of whose names I didn’t remember at all.
I really wanted her friends to like me, but it seemed that wasn’t going to happen at all.
Roxanne looked over at me.
“Can you guys give Daxon and I some privacy please?”
“With pleasure,” Remy smirked. “We’re gonna go to the bar.”
Roxanne made sure they were out of ear shot. “Okay, I need you to look really remorseful right now, like really sad.” I frowned and I saw Roxanne hold her laughter. “You gotta give me more to work with. Think about this morning, how sad you were that I misunderstood you.”
That was easy to tap into. I felt like s**t this morning thinking I might have f****d up with Roxanne.
An angry look came across Roxanne’s face and shook her head. “They have to think that we’re discussing this. You have to seem like you’re groveling.”
“Do you need me to cry?”
“Can you cry on command?” She seemed impressed.
“I’m a spoiled rich kid, babe of course I can.” I took a moment before mustering up some tears.
I grabbed Roxanne’s hands. “Please forgive me, Roxanne, I f****d up. I’m a man with many flaws, but I’m trying to be better. Especially for you. You deserve the best. I love you, sweetheart. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, just please let me prove I can be the man that you deserve.”
She looked taken aback. “Daxon, you’re strangely good at this.”
“It’s like I was born to play this role right?” I brought her hands to my head as though I was begging her to stay. “Maybe I should be an actor too.”
Roxanne shook her head in disbelief. “Absolutely not, I’ll be the only one acting in this relationship. You handle the assets.”
“Do you forgive me?” I looked at her through tear filled eyes.
She sighed and nodded. I glanced over at her friends. They looked disappointed with her. I decided to make them even more disappointed.
I put my hands on Roxanne’s face and kissed her. She was hesitant at first, but gave in to me eventually.
There was something insane about kissing this woman. I didn’t know if it was her passion, her eagerness, or the fact that she strangely always tasted like mango. I slipped my tongue in her mouth, knowing it was probably too much, but I couldn’t help myself.
I also felt the need to make sure she knew that I was insanely attracted to her, even if we couldn’t exactly have s*x just yet. I felt her hand squeeze my thigh. At first I thought it was a signal to stop, but I think she was kind of turned on.
“What the hell, Roxanne?!”
I reluctantly pulled away from Roxanne and saw her friends had sat back down.
“Are you forgiving this cheating bastard?” Remy questioned.
Roxanne sighed. “Daxon isn’t perfect, but he’s trying. I know he can change. I mean I was with someone else just two days ago.”
“But that was different!” Beatrix stated.
“Well, how?”
“Because he was the mistress.”
Roxanne groaned. “Look, I trust Daxon and I know he won't hurt me again. We’re very committed to each other and we’re going to get married.”
“Look, guys, I’m actually really happy Roxanne has friends who care this much about her. I get why you’re angry with me. And the same way I’m going to work for Roxanne’s trust, I’m going to work for yours. By the time the wedding comes around, I promise, you guys will see how much I love her.”
Maybe I should be an actor? This was too easy to do. Had I been wasting my talents in asset management?
“Just give him a chance,” Roxanne begged.
“You said the same thing about Tyson,” Beatrix pointed out. “And look how right we were about him.”
“Honestly, your taste in men is horrible, Roxanne!” Remy shook his head. “Tyson was cheating on you all over town and you just sat there and took it. Are you gonna do the same thing with him?!”
“Remy!” Beatrix hissed.
Roxanne looked between them. “You guys knew he was cheating on me?”
Well, this would not end well.
