Chapter 20: Trust

"It means we can be ambushed on our first night", I said after realizing what the man was trying to tell us. He just warned us about us being all killed but he seems to be so calm about it. Are they already used to it?

Every night, demons imprisoned in hell have a time to be free. They are still trapped here in the island though, and no one could ever step outside of the parameters.

The demons trapped in the hell including the 9th circle of it have the greatest and fearsome demons the whole world had ever seen.

"Does Azrael know about this?", Madison asked me. I was about to answer her when Bliant cut me off.

"For sure, he already knows. He is the angel of death after all."

But then, it suddenly came upon me. If there were really ambushes each night, here on this island, how is this man still alive?

I look at him in front of me. "How did you survive each night you were here?", I asked him.

He look at me with calm eyes and smile but then his smile slowly turned into a smirk.

He run towards me as we also run backwards, away from him.

We were about to lose our hope when suddenly, Azrael showed up.

"Seriously? A demon in the broad daylight?", he asked before doing his heart crushing trick again in front of us.

That is so gross even though it was only a shadow but it is still his heart.

"Correction, it is 'its' heart", Azrael reminded me.

"Okay okay, 'it'. Anyways, what kind of demon is that?", I asked him while analyzing the fave of the demon who hasn't turned into ash yet.

"It looks like a human", Bliant added. Azrael raised his eyebrows at him. "Well, with an evil intention, of course", Bliant said.

Azrael told us about the demon. He said it was a half demon, half human. Most half humans and half demons had turned their genes into a full demon as the demon's blood absorbs the human blood until there is nothing. In some instances, human blood may be more powerful if the human blood is from a sacred family or having a pure hearted soul without any kind of wrong doings.

Madison screams on top of her lungs which gained our attention.

"What happened?", I asked curiously but Bliant also screams in shock and seems to be disgusted.

"The bird just pooped at me! See? Ewww", Madison said before rushing back to the beach pushing Bliant's wheelchair.

After the talkings, we all went to the beach again, with the woods and sticks we brought.

"You saw a demon, I guess?", Jayden said while helping us with the woods.

"Yeah. Azrael said it was a half demon, half human", Madison answered him while still cleaning her hair.

I looked at Mason in shocked upon hearing the news. What is he shocked about? Is it his first time meeting it?

I looked at Azrael and just nodded at me. Okay, Mason really just heard this for the first time so that explains the shock. I thought there is something fishy about it but nah, maybe just a negative gut feeling.

"He also said about the island opening the gate of hell every night", I told them which they all looked at me unbelievably except for Azrael again.

"What the hell?! Hey Azrael, you want us to stay here when this whole island will become a demon den?", Jayden asked confusedly and seems to be irritated.

Azrael just sighed and didn't even look at us. "It was for the clue purposes okay?"

"Do you want us all die?!", Elinora asked in shock. "This was a suicide mission. We shouldn't been in here. I think we should leave now", she added angrily and grabbed the bags we have and rushes to our boats.

Everyone did the same while I just look at Azrael who seemed to be down because of the group not trusting him.

"You do have a plan, right?", I asked him and he just look at me.

"You will not gonna leave just like them?", he asked confusedly to me.

I just shrugged my shoulders. "Well, you are the leader and obviously, I owe you a lot for protecting me and actually..."

I look at him straight to his eyes but I just couldn't say what I wanted to say.

"What? Continue what you're going to tell me. I am kinda curious you know?"

I chuckled. "Well, actually, I just gained some trust... in you. And maybe I guess since you are the leader of the group, you wouldn't just barge in here knowing it is an island with a weird name that opens the hell gate every night and will try to kill us all. It just doesn't sound the 'Azrael's' way of killing", I explained.

He smiled at me. "Then what is my way of killing then?"

I put my hand in front of me and slowly grip it making a fist trying to do his heart crushing trick in the air.

"Well that was not it but you did great", he said and brought my hands down.

I looked at the other members helping each other to bring the boats onto the sea but they just couldn't because of the sea level. The sea level wasn't enough for them to go up since it is really now so low that the boat keeps bumping into the sand.

"We should do something about this right? They just don't believe in you anymore", I said to him.

Azrael just made his eyes little to try looking for them.

"Oh god! Did you see their eyes? It turned blue, am I right?", he asked me and pointed our comrades.

I look at them and they really did have an icy blue eyes which always switches from time to time.

"Are they?..."

"Hypnotized?!", I asked Azrael in shock.

Oh my god. This is so unreal. "How come I didn't notice anything? And how come I am not hypnotized unlike them?"

Azrael didn't answer me and just stormed off towards them. "Hey what are you doing?"

"I'll try read their minds", he answered and hold Jayden's hand but before he finally read his mind, Jayden walk away from him.

"Don't touch me! I want to go home, okay?", he said before he jumps on the boat.

I saw some massive waves on the sea. If they will try padding towards the path we take earlier, they will die because of the waves.

So the demon are trying to lure them off the island to be killed. What the hell?

Azrael keeps on barricading the beach. He even uses his cloning skills to keep them on the island parameters.

Meanwhile, I am still standing here thinking why the hell I am not hypnotized like them? Is it because of my eyes? Or is it because I have no contact on the demon who made this?

But I was with Madison and Bliant and we just saw the half demon, half human which was already killed by Azrael.

W-wait. Is it the b-bird?

I remember Bliant and Madison had been pooped by a bird. I don't know what kind of bird it is but on this type of island, most of the animals aren't really an animal but the other persona of a demon.

"Azrael!", I shouted which then he just nodded at me.

"I get it! I read your thoughts. Help me tie them or make unconscious", he told me which I did.

I hit their neck which I just watched on televisions but it is certainly a real thing. Jayden and Mason passed out as I hit them and I tied them on a palm tree near the beach.

"How long will they be knocked out?", I asked Azrael who is doing the same to Elinora, Bliant and Madison.

"Just enough for us to kill this damn demon", he answered.

Azrael's clones was pulling the boats back to the beach and also tied it in a tree.

I rushed towards the kitchen tools and get a bread knife. Well I think this is enough to kill a bird demon.

"You don't need that. Here, get this", Azrael said and throw me a gun.

"Gun is so loud. This might wake up some sleeping demons here", I told him.

"That gun wasn't that loud. It has silencers okay?", he said before walking towards the forest.

"Wait for me!", I shouted at him but he just didn't even try to walk slow but he walks faster than before.

Seriously? How can I even be with this man today?

"Be alert. That bird might just be everywhere", he said and lead the path for me.

I heard some mumbling and chuckles everywhere. Even though it was just like a whisper, I still can hear it.

"I can also hear that. Just move and don't try to walk on the different path."

I did what he told me but the whispers just kept on getting louder and louder and before I knew it, I was now alone in this deep forest.
