Chapter 5

Robin 

Being the Alpha of my pack, it became my responsibility that I make my pack one of the strongest in the world. I had the responsibility of the whole pack on my shoulders and it was becoming very difficult for me to run my pack, because of many issues. One being the rogues trying to infiltrate my border and the other and the most important one, I hadn’t found my Luna yet. 

When I reached 10 years, my dad, Thadeus Blackwell took me to the oracle of our land to get a read on my destiny. It had become a routine in the Alpha family that the pups of the Alpha were taken to the oracle to learn about their future, so that the Alpha could make a decision of whether or not to hand over their pack to their pups or to find someone right to run the pack. 

I still remember the day like it happened yesterday. 

FLASHBACK

“Wake up Robin”, my maid and nanny came to me and started waking me up. 

“5 more minutes Berta. Please”, I started whining from inside the duvet. 

“Wake up my child. Don't you know what it is today? How can you be late on your special day of meeting the pack oracle. Come on my child. Luna and Alpha are waiting to meet you”, she said to me and I sighed. 

She was right. It was my birthday today and especially the 10th birthday. According to the pack tradition, I was meeting the oracle today, and she would let me know whether I am capable of becoming the Alpha and running my pack or not. I took a deep breath and came out of my duvet. 

I saw Berta standing near my bed and waiting for me to come out of my bed. I gently kicked the duvet from my body and got down from my mattress. I got my slippers on and stood from the mattress. 

“Happy birthday my child, my future Alpha. I wish all the happiness in the world for you. Have a wonderful day my child”, Berta came near and hugged me and wished me. 

It had become a routine for her to come and hug me and shower me the blessings to have a great day on my normal days, and special wishes on my birthdays. I hugged her back and inhaled her smell. She smelled like coffee and bacon and eggs, my favorite breakfast meal. 

I hugged her tighter and she gently let go of me. I also let her go and felt her lips on my forehead. I smiled and kissed her on her cheeks and left my way towards my bathroom. I completed my morning chores and came out and saw a pair of trousers and shirt and shoes all neatly pressed and arranged on my mattress. 

It was one of Berta's routines to bring out the clothing of the day for me. I got dressed and combed my hair neatly. I looked at myself in the mirror and left my way towards the dining area. Even though we had a very big pack house that could accommodate more than thousands of wolves and their families, my father preferred staying separately with his family. 

We were not far away from the packhouse, and it was just a few yards from our house. If you listen carefully, then you could hear the chattering of the pack members, with the sensitive hearing and all. 

My room was on the first floor of the house. I made my way downstairs towards the dining area and saw my mom and dad waiting for me there. Berta was already there and she had even prepared my breakfast and had placed it on the place in the dining table, where I normally sit. I just went towards the dining table. 

I saw my mom Lina Blackwell come towards me and hug me tighter. I hugged her back and inhaled her smell. She was the most beautiful woman in the whole world and smelled like flowers all the time. She always managed to look fresh and smell like flowers all the time and I always loved to get lost in her hugs. 

“Happy birthday Robin. Finally my pup has reached almost adulthood. 7 to 8 more years and I will have my daughter-in-law with me”, she said with a chuckle. 

I let her go and started frowning. I could see a mischievous glint in her eyes and Berta was also laughing with her. Dad stayed stoic like he always does. I sighed and went towards the dining table and sat before my plate. 

“Awww. . . my baby is frowning. I was kidding darling. . .  I am so happy that you have reached 10 years and now is the time to enjoy everything that comes with being the pup of an Alpha”, she said to me while sitting before me. She held my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. 

“Mom. . . thank you for your wishes. . “, I replied to her and started blushing without me knowing, because the thought of a mate made me feel so happy. Even though I was just 10 years old, I had seen the love and adoration that my father had for my mother. It was enough for me to know that a mate is someone whom you love and adore, just like my father does to my mother. 

We had our breakfast and me and dad made our way towards the pack’s holy ground, which was also the place where the oracle stayed with her family. We reached the place and dad took me towards the house that looked more or less like a normal house, but with more touch of plantations around it. 

My dad knocked on the door and a woman opened it. She looked like she was in her early 20s and had dark black hair that was left to flow till her waist. She had deep blue colored orbs, which looked like they withheld mysteries of the world in them. She had a black colored long gown with full arm sleeves and she was petite, yet very pretty to look at. 

“Hello Mina, how are you doing?”, my dad was the one to speak after we were gestured to enter the house. 

“Hello Alpha. I am doing fine, thank you. How about you and Luna?” she replied. 

“She is also doing fine, thank you for asking. Is Celeste around?”, he asked. 

“Oh yes Alpha. She is preparing her mind to see what holds in the future of our young Alpha. If you will excuse me, then I will go and inform her about your arrival”, she said and left her way towards one of the rooms that was located inside the house. 

I sat on the couch and started taking in my surroundings. It was just like a regular house and not at all like what I had expected it to be. There was a TV, a couch set with a loveseat and an ottoman. There was a coffee table placed in the middle of the living area and the house was decorated with regular things like pictures of the family, nature, and so on. The only difference that I noticed in the house was that there were plants, many plants placed here and there throughout the house. 

After a few minutes of whispering and discussing, Mina came out and gestured to us to enter the room. Dad stood up and started towards the room, but was stopped by Mina. Dad was surprised with the gesture, but Mina had a straight face. We just kept looking at her, and my dad was trying to understand what was happening. 

It was when we heard her from inside the room. Even though it was just a whisper, our sensitive hearing picked it very well. She informed us that only I was allowed to go inside the room and my dad had to stay back. We were still standing in the living room of the house and dad was deciding what to do. 

“Alpha, please let the little Alpha proceed further into the room and you stay behind. She just needs to meet your son alone”, Mina who was standing next to us told my dad with a gesture stating that she will take me further into the room. 

Dad sighed and looked at Mina again and gestured something to her. He looked at me once and pushed me gently to go into the room with Mina. I looked at dad once and then at Mina. Both of them gave me a gentle smile and Mina came towards me and put forth her right hand towards me. I held onto her hand and she looked at my dad once again. They had a stern look, but they both smiled when they looked at me. 

Now Mina took me towards the room where the oracle was supposed to be and we started walking towards the threshold. I stopped and turned around and saw my dad sitting on the couch and running both hands on his face. All these gestures made me think that the oracle knew something about my future and she wanted to confirm it by meeting me personally. 

I started going towards the room with Mina holding onto my shoulder in a gentle way. We reached the room and she told me to go inside. I just stood there and looked around the room and that was when I saw her.
